  • A perfect addition to any Game Room, Man Cave or Woman Cave. This video will show you how to build a flexible, portable putting green which can be easily reconfigured in seconds. Spite what I might have said in the video at around 1:07 minutes, the holes are 4.25 inches.

    Materials list:
    a putting green surface, AstroTurf, I got mine at Home Depot
    2 - 2 ft by 2 ft foam floor squares
    3 to 4 - 3/4 inch 8 ft lengths of foam pipe insulation.
    2 - roles of double sided carpet tape.
    1 roll of plastic sheeting or carpet protector approx. 20 ft long
    markers, cutting tool or blade
    a roll of duct or packing tape
    2 to 3 plastic lids off a nut container

    This is beautiful! Great craftsmanship and ingenuity. I may try something like this as I want to make a chipping/putting green relatively cheap.

    Wow, thank you so much for this video and having the items in the description.
    I was looking for a cost effective way to build a putting green that could be rolled up.
    Where I started work, the one for rec activities is more of a hazard for the seniors.

    How well has the carpet tape held up? Would you recommend using another type of adhesive instead?

    I got my material from Camrygolf 10ft x 15ft. Super low price and honestly the best rolling material out there. All the Pros have been using it.

    Mike, great video. I'm building a 6'x8' green with 12 tiles and tape, from harbor freight $25 and green turf from Lowes $21 that looks like trunk carpet.
    How is your green holding up? Would you do anything different?

      Kurtis, My green is holding up great, thanks for asking. I have a role of turf I got from Costco they were selling during end of season sale plan to to make some more holes and obstacles and see how it compares. Plan to have these videos out soon.

    I only have room to create a 2 x14 grren for my hallway. Will these foam bumpers raise the green on both sides and skew the level of the putting surface? Thanks

      @@MakeItorBreakItNow my dad owns an abandoned football field it a normal like high school foot ball deal but we removed all the grass so it’s just concrete and made a putting coarse with 20 levels using this technique thank you so much

      Lucas, flat closed foam exercise tiles you can get at 5 and below.

    Why did you attach a matt to the end where the holes are? doesn't that create a bump on your green?

      xostolenheartox, the mat is to make room for the holes. If you are concerned about the bump you can use a box cutter to carve out a slope similar to what I did in this video. ua-cam.com/video/hOoHM_0pnRw/v-deo.html

    I went out and bought the same astroturf as you but I've noticed that the ball always rolls slightly to one side of the mat. I think this is due to the way the grains of the turf are facing (maybe not?). Do you have any suggestions on how to overcome this problem? I'm not expecting something perfect but it's pretty significant on a putt longer than a few feet.

      Dan B, wow, that's interesting. That hasn't happened to us. It might have to do with how long the roll was sitting around on the floor at the store. You might try using a broom and see if you could coax the rug to stand up again, or it might do it itself after lying flat for a bit of time...

      @@MakeItorBreakItNow Ah yeah you're probably right. I tried brushing it but didn't see much change. I'm considering soaking in water to see if that would loosen them up at all. I would love to hear other suggestions if you come up any.

    What do you recommend to take away little bumps from the carpet and divots from standing too long on the carpet?

      Lucas, I don't seem to have that problem on mine and I've used it both on tile and carpet.

    Sorry if I missed the length and width of this in the video but is like more or less a 2ft by 10ft build? Approximately how many foam tiles are underneath just to get an idea of how much to purchase. Thanks!

      Johnny, the putting green is 4 ft X 10-12 ft. Its currently rolled up. I used 2 foam tiles where the holes were and strips from another to contour the length of the green, so 3-4 foam tiles depending on how fancy you want to be.

      Home Depot is where I got mine. Costco also has a nice version I picked up for 50% off when it was on sale.

      Thanks for your question. I recall, I spent less than $30. For the additions listed in the comments section below (my two newer videos) were around $15 total. I have a dozen or so other ideas for obstacles all around $12 or less, which I plan to make future videos on soon.

      yes, you buy it by the linear foot. The rolls are typically 8-10 ft long.

      Tony Yoo, sure just double or triple up on the foam padding. In fact I'm thinking about making an updated version that has the foam floor panels the entire length of the run. Thanks for your question.
