I don't have many skills, and i don't know much. But I have watched every single music performance on youtube, and I can with full confidence say that this is the best one.
But does he use Linux?
@@karlio3368 yes. slackware.
Charlie is the goat
Guy is a treasure - a true original, great picker and song writer.
Absolutely
Still stands as the best traditional American musician.
Discovered him thru a good friend of mine few days back....yes ive been living under a rock
Is anyone else just cracking up during "On Stealing a Sailboat"?
Charlie Parr is a (too) rare combination of extraordinary talent and deep, genuine humility. Cheap Wine alone is enough to assure his status as a legendary storyteller.
Throughout my life there have been 4 artists that have altered my mind through their music. Gun's n Roses (school years), Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Moreland and most recently Charlie Parr. I've been a life long musician and now well in to my 40's listening to Charlie seems like an all too rare musical treasure for me.
ah the smell of dark roasted coffee, cowboy breakfast and the sound of charlie parr in the morning. lovely
Let me just say, the sound quality of these KEXP recordings is second to none. My word. A tip of my cap. Charlie Parr is a treasure. Cheap Wine is haunting, beautiful and terrifying.
Cheap wine is MY FAVORITE!!
I keep coming back to this. I've never heard any better.
I can smell this songs throughout the fucking screen damn
That fingerpicking is next level. It almost sounds like two guitars.
It's awesome, I agree! He plays a 12 string guitars, that's probably why it sounds like two guitars :)
Check out Leo Kottke's 12-string work too if you don't know his stuff.
New Charlie Parr? Heck yes. 2020 doesn't seem so bad anymore. Charlie is such a good story teller. A true Minnesota legend right up there with Bob Dylan and Prince, even if not as famous.
I also think about the jayhawks and kinda sorta Leo Kottke too
You read my mind
Charlie is famous in the right circles.. those who know, know 🙌🤘❤️🤘
Trampled by 🐢.. Charlie Parr.. and The lowest pair.. all in a one small bar in Bloomington, IN. Perhaps best concert I ever experienced
When I was a teenager I stumbled across Charlie performing on KEXP. I forgot to save the video, so I lost his name. I spent months trawling through the channel before I could find him again. It remains one of my favourite videos on this channel from a beloved performer. Thank you KEXP.
Minnesota Legend Charlie Parr
Yo Adam! It's me, Dirk! hahahaha!
@@bearingtondudesly9168 Hey! Where you at these days?
Y’all know Minnesota Molly, card player?🤷🏻♂️
I ebb and flow into Charlie every few years. I'm delighted every time and always blown away by what a talent he is. I'm an age of overproduced music it's a breath of fresh air. He's an American treasure.
I love Charlie’s playing, his personality and his stories. His songs can be haunting or really funny but always have tons of feeling. I hope to see him play live some day. Regards from across the pond.
I saw him live a couple years ago. He opened for a Mandolin Orange concert and he was amazing!
UK and Europe dates coming up in 2022 :)
@@oddballrecords6551 I see that he has a date in Cork. Fingers crossed!

Never figured a song about car wheels could make me cry
Charlie Parr is a lovely human being and songwriter!
We saw him play in Bozeman a couple years ago. Fantastic. We caught him after the show to say thanks and he was indeed a warm and lovely human being. I appreciate him.
Saw Charlie in Austin MN a few weeks ago. My absolute favorite concert I’ve EVER been to!
He puts on a GREAT show! even solo like this - an amazement of musical movement and words.
Met Charlie once In two harbors, and I'm on the Stoney River loving the north minnesota woods, good family good times. Listening to that Real music 🎵✌️💚🎶😈
Can't wait! Saw him open for Mandolin Orange last year and he killed it.
Gonna be a while but yeah, look forward to seeing him
His voice is quite pleasant
When I was a teenager in the late 1970's and early 1980's, I wished for a Guild or a Martin 12-string guitar.
Charlie Parr. One of the reasons I’m glad to call Duluth home.
I live in Wisconsin and have the joy of going through Duluth every year en route to Canada. As a kid I was fascinated by the industrial sights (the freighters, the grain silos, etc). As a teenager, I began to appreciate the incredible beauty of the hills and bluffs. As an adult, I began to dig into the history (Bob Dylan, the railroad, etc). It wasn't until I attended a wedding there that I got to spend three full days in the town. Incredible experience.
Fellow northerner from Wisconsin who's been lucky enough to experience him in person. Truly mesmerizing 🙌
Another Duluth great who no longer is together... "Tin Can gin" checkout - Mighty Fitz 👌
My favorite solo musician. Thx Charlie
Charlie Parr is so special... I feel very very very lucky to be hearing and enjoying his music.
A legend. So lucky to see him perform at The Tractor here is Seattle. Don’t miss him when he comes to your town.

Parr is a true storyteller with MAGIC in his picking hand.

Local #1 or not, spotify told me you are my #1 listened to artists in 2019. So there are no conditions on that one.

enthralling from the first second he played!
The grace that is necessary to respond to asinine questions like he did... I'll get there.

Charlie's America
Were a whole life
Can be lived in a song
Stone beauty trickling
Out
but Firm and stout
Sporting
A breathless doubt
Of a new world order
That just gets us poorer
And poorer
A last lament
Of what was so much better
Delivered unfettered
Now a slave of what should never be
Taking all giving and nothing back
So we do what we do
We get high and watch
Give up
Just have fun
While waiting for it all to end
We ll send it off
With the pops of a million rifles
And pistols
books of sigils
And
One last
Incantation for it all to end
To start again
But don t hold your breath friends
Just keep doing what keeps you right
What you decide
P$
Everytime i hear this song
(Mag wheels)
I see that scene in my minds eye
Just two guys sitting beside
Each other at a bar
Swapping the stories of
Their Sweet yesterdays
And the bird of youth
That has long flown away
Wondering where did it all go
Somehow Knowing that
Speaking it
Keeps it true
And alive
Thanks so much CHARLIE AND KEXP

Just found this man a few days ago, wow, so blown away by his 12 string playing, and the lyrics, so good. Chord progression anyone, please?
@KEXP Get Chris Acker and the Growing Boys on!!
Fucking awesome!
Good. Honest. True.
Thanks Nick Swann for steering me to Charlie !

Damn Charlie is my new favorite, just discovered him recently doing the First Ave Sunday night online concerts with Liz Draper. Hey so does anyone know the model of this Guild 12 String Charlie is using in this vid ? Thanks in advance & Peace !
Jesus I got that guitar!! Can't play it like that....but I got one 🤘
Would love to see Charlie and fellow MN singer songwriter Frankie Lee do something together. Get Bob involved too for a full MN musician trio.
Mason Dixon how about a Dave Simonett Charlie Parr collaboration.
1st song sounds like story of my life
Gosh, how I love you, Charlie!!!
Charlie can ya play “Stumpjumper”?!

Hooked.
I thought it was the actor John Hurt. It's like the country mirror of him
