I've really been enjoying the naval vids of late, but this is outstanding. Haven't watched the series in quite a while, however I don't have anything to do today and it's Iron Chancellor time. Cheers from Tennessee
Thank you for posting this mate, I appreciate it. This vast field of historical subjects from Frederick the Great to Bismarck and on fascinates! Keep it up mate!
There seemed to be a pattern of Prussian soldiers often outnumbered and spread out against the Austrians but still coming out strong with its efficient firepower and discipline. We also start to see the impact of the industrial revolution in its weaponry and the first uses of railways.
"No battle plan survives contact with the enemy" quote by Von Moltke reminds me of "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face" by Mike Tyson.
@@HoH FYI, after the German-Italian Unification Wars of 1866, Austria was beaten so badly, to make sure Hungary don’t apart, the Habsburg gave them leverage in the empire by becoming the Austro-Hungarian Empire or Austria-Hungary. And Italy was also involved which was for the Third Italian War of Independence which happens simultaneously with the Austro-Prussian War as well. First Italian War of Independence 1848-1849, Second Italian War of Independence 1859, Expedition of the Thousand 1861, Third Italian of Independence 1866, Brigands war in south of Italy 1860s, and Capture of Rome 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War 1870-1871. Would you consider during a series based on Italian Wars of Independence as well not now, but later on?
What did you use for sources? Im interested in learning more about Bismarck's attempt to get the Hungarians to revolt and what the initial territorial demands that Wilhelm wanted were. Great video. Loved it
Very detailed, great video and a great channel. Have you covered the Franco Prussian War? Couldn't see anything, but maybe I've missed it? Many Thanks.
I wonder how the war would have gone if the Austrians had decided to simply give the Veneto to Italy in exchange for their neutrality, then they could have mustered all of their armies against the Prussians. But fighting a two fronts war was madness on their part.
Austria were doomed regardless. Their dumb-ass tactics got way too many of their troops killed versus Prussia. Trying to spam bayonet charges into groups of soldiers with breech loaders is simply stupidity.
Austrians were just too disorganized and played right into the Prussian advantage of the Needle Gun, disjointed corps being defeated in detail by smaller Prussian forces, with Austrian commanders simply not having the required information to act independently and decisively, even if they possessed superior numbers. The Prussian troops also appear to have been far more disciplined, not breaking as easily when in dangerous predicaments.
Very, VERY excellent documentary. I’ve never knew that there was more battles other than konnigratz or they were described as skirmishes. Although I was rotting for the Prussians (even if we know that they won the war) Austria surprisingly wasn’t really a pushover as I thought they were as the joke was that Austria was like the Italian German in having such a weak army, but not they fought well. Although yeah they lost, they did gave the Prussians a good run for their money and were (in my opinion) just hamstrung by poor logistics and somewhat poor command (well Benedek was indeed incompetent). The Prussians I think suffered more from cocky commanders thinking that the Austrians could be shrugged and I think that led them to commit more mistakes even if they won the war and almost every battle. Any ways, great video and can’t wait to see the Franco Prussian war and the unification of Germany!
Who wrote this source material J R R Tolkien? What book did you get this info from? It's lord of the rings in its purest form. It reads just like it. I can point out 100 reasons why. Even the map resembles middle earth. I wouldn't have been surprised if a dragon showed up. 109:23 let me guess, the name of the helpful peasant that helped guide through the marshes was Gollum
So much research but one cant make the german danish border right. ugh Ribe was never handed over the the Prussians and its kinda an important little detail :/
You know when you say Australia and Russia relationship was still cool , how cool are we talking, like tight or bros ? Or just like at a party where you give eaxh other a head not and a sup .

This series was incredible! Thanks For this! This movie will be great! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's called Lord of the Rings. It won the Oscar

Who knew Mike Tyson was such a great strategist and political theorist. Perhaps Von Moltke had a hidden passion for boxing.
Perhaps.
Or that Iron Mike was a von Moltke fan
Great job ! This ALL PARTRS films on the end of series are epic.
This is really good. If I could suggest one thing, it would be to remove the popping sounds when an icon appears on the map.
Thanks for the feedback!

I will slowly start working on crafting the script, yes!

The losses are described as staggering. Those are rookie numbers for a student of WW2. Stalingrad, Moscow, and Berlin are staggering.
