Hey. Just checking out your reaction to Triumph. As a Canadian I’ve always been proud of our 3 piece bands like Rush. I think you would be blown away by Rock and Roll Machine by Triumph. Keep up the great reactions! Dan
Growing up in Canada in the 80's - I just love it when others discover the songs and moments that made up my youth. I always considered bands like Triumph, Loverboy, Rush, Kim Mitchel / Max Webster, BTO , The Tragically Hip etc. as our local secrets - you keep finding this Canadian gold dude - enjoy our music!
Anybody who says music in the 80's wasn't that good obviously didn't live through it. It was such a fun decade! (Yes, the 70's was better musically but also probably the greatest decade of music in human history).
Let's Gooooo! This was the first act I ever saw live. I was 10 They opened up for Bob Seger and I got the VIP treatment with front row center floors because my dad was friends with security. I had a smile for weeks 😂 please check out April Wine...Roller it's a certified banger as you refer to some songs 😂 Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
Loverboy & April Wine were house party staples growing up - almost over played at times because everyone loved 'm . I find the term "underrated" is used too often but Mike Reno's vocals kinda were ,especially on some songs that didn't get as much radio play - he has crazy range
Came back from a little fishing to find more Canadian content on your channel. Mike Reno is singing. A lot of times you find a video that says live but it has the studio version dubbed over it, this is definitely not the studio version. In almost all cases I prefer a live performance, this is a good example why. Loverboy was pretty big here in Canada and had a lot of hits. Mike Reno even teamed up with Ann Wilson for a song called Almost Paradise. Keep uncovering our Canadian talent and give them the exposure they deserve.
I absolutely love LOVERBOY!! I'm an old Ozzy, Metallica, Led Zep fan but I loved so much of the music that came out in the 80's. I saw Loverboy live in 1986 and they ROCKED!!
@@jessejamessimons483 Oh wow!! That’s awesome! When you show up to a concert and the band throws down and exceeds expectations, that’s always a treat!! 🔥
The bassist fell off of his boat years ago and was never found. The guitarist and drummer were in a band called Streetheart you really should visit, the bassist from that band is with them since the boating accident. The live video for Streethearts' cover of the Rolling Stones' Under my Thumb is awesome.
If you want to check out more from Loverboy, I suggest the song, Take Me To The Top. It's such a cool song. The guitar and the bass line along with the synth bass line make it such a memorable song. Easily my favorite from them.
I just love how happy that made you. They were an awesome band and massively underrated everywhere but Canada I feel. I shouldn't say 'were', I'm pretty sure they're still rockin'. Lots of great tracks to come. Thanks, you pumped up my day with this one. ✌❤
And Canada strikes again! 🇨🇦 Loverboy are definitely one of the best bands we’ve produced! Turn Me Loose was one of their biggest hits….and, yeah, I bought their albums back in the day…still have them!
I saw these guys 3x in the span of 4.5 years 81-86. The first time I saw them in 81, they opened for ZZ Top...in Texas...a tough order for anyone. They had their first hit...this one...and nothing else. The crowd was there for the Top and these guys heard that. My hometown was brutal to openers. Next time I saw them (summer of 82) they were the 4th band in a five band show in the Kingdome in Seattle. Opener was Bryan Adams (a last-minute addition...a newcomer at the time), Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Blue Öyster Cult, Loverboy, and headlining was Foreigner. They rocked the freakin' house that day. Guitarist wailed. Third time in January 86 was a lark. My buddy & I had just completed almost 2 years of training in the Navy and were on a month-long leave. We had driven all night from our duty station in Idaho and rolled into my hometown about noon. On the way in, we heard on the radio they were playing that night, so we went. They were the headliner that time, but I gotta tell ya, I don't really remember too much about that show...my buddy & I were turning it loose after almost 2 years! 😂😂😂

You were asking about when the hair metal bands started to emerge. Hair metal was around even a little before the 80's, it just hadn't caught on nationwide yet. As far as the bands. Well Loverboy here came out right in 1980. That's when the album for this song Turn Me Loose was released. Bon jovi's first single was released in 1980 titled "Little Runaway", and Motley Crue dropped their first album in 1980 titled Too Fast For Love". Their major song "Livewire" from that album is a Killer! The video is too awesome! Wait until you watch that one. Good reaction. 🎼🎵🎵
@@erickent3557 I never said that Loverboy was a hair band, just stating that they came out in 1980. However, there were several bands with long hair in the 80's metal scene that didn't consider themselves hair metal. A typical band was Metallica. I saw them in an interview once and they said: "There are a lot of bands out here with long hair, but we don't all consider ourselves hair bands, and we are one of the ones who don't see ourselves as a hair metal band".
The retro-actively applied "genre" term for this style is "Camaro rock." A chunk of great music in this vein. I certainly enjoyed cruising around with my older brother in his '83 Camaro, blasting cassettes like Loverboy, Billy Squier, Night Ranger.
