Hey, cool reaction. People always assume metal is just long haired guys screaming. They're actually masterclass musicians with meaningful lyrics. The world will always try to tarnish good things. Glad you're discovering how powerful this music is. A lot of these tunes were written in the eighties and still hold true today, rock on 😎🤘🤘✌️🇨🇦, and by the way, not sure if you guys have heard of freedom convoy that is happening in Canada, they are standing up to government to end ALL mandates, US truckers are standing with our truckers also, gonna be huge, check it out, send your support in a message if you feel the same way, thanks😊
Heavy metal is such a unique style of music. Most people just complain that its noise and screaming. But if you actually listen to the instruments & lyrics heavy metal tells some of the best stories in the world
The bass line is classic. It was the opening for MTV News for a long time. To my understanding, Dave wrote this about how people at the time viewed heavy metal fans
It's funny how many old-school hip hop fans end up liking heavy metal. They're similar in that they both have something serious to say especially concerning social injustices and prejudices. Back in my high school days (the '80s) for every hour I spent listening to Megadeth or Iron Maiden I spent an hour listening to KRS-One or Afrika Bambaataa. Cheers.
It's quite an interesting intersection I'm glad somebody else pointed it out. In my younger more immature days I absolutely wouldn't give rap or hip hop a chance but I loved metal. As I got older and opened up my musical tastes I found I really liked a lot of rap and hip hop and it was awesome to go discover it all like it was new.
The first Megadeth song that I heard that I liked was Angry Again from the Last Action Hero soundtrack. The next one was Symphony of Destruction. Either of these songs, plus Addicted to Chaos, would be great for a reaction.
I've gotten to the point where I don't even listen to my music alone anymore, I wait for the reactions to enjoy it with great people like yourselves. This is awesome to jam out, and share your journey into this whole new experience. Thanks for sharing with us, and keep enjoying the music. Love you guys. ROCK ON!!!
Dave Mustaine is Megadeth… Singer and one of the guitarist. He was in Metallica, got kicked out for being too drunk… He created Megadeth to compete and has been excellent at it. You all are jamming to the heavy thrash bands. The other softer bands are hair metal. Great job loving you guys!
The Peace Sells tour was the first time I saw Megadeth live........in a club! Either '85 or '86. I was like 18 or 19. It's floating around UA-cam. They were just getting popular after Dave formed the band and played a few clubs in the Bay Area. Most of the hardcore metal bands would come up to Sacramento from SF and play at the El Dorado Saloon. Yes, Megadeth absolutely ruled that show. It was a special time in music and we lived in the golden age! All worship this time in music!
Dave Mustaine is the main rhythm guitarist in Megadeth, but he can definitely solo also. They've had a revolving door of lead (solo) guitarists. My favorite is probably Marty Friedman. Check out Tornado of Souls for one of his most epic solos. More Megadeth to check out: Symphony of Destruction, Countdown To Extinction, and Sweating Bullets are 3 great tracks from the early 90s.
Good on you Asia for realizing the art is more important than the noise💜 Sweating bullets is one of the best thrash videos ever made, completely genius
I remember back in the days. They played a couple of songs on the Arsenio Hall Show. Blew their audience away , awkward silence when the songs ended then the crowd would erupted in cheers, woof woof aja! They weren't used to this kind of music but knew it was bad ass. Arsenio and Dave Mustaine got along. Arsenio invited Megadeth twice to the show. early '90s, he liked Megadeth. We all talked about it at school. Might be some footage here on youtube, should see if its there.
Yeah I watched that it was funny to look on arsenio's face he didn't know what to say or think and neither did the audience it was weird I didn't see the second time though if it was a little bit more comfortable than that because it was weird and awkward I don't think the audience or Arsenio was even expecting that
Compared to other Thrash Metal bands Megadeth’s bass lines, drum work, snd rhythm during guitar transitions have a jazz and/or blues feel to them hidden within the technicality of the guitars. Especially in this song wheee the bass feels jazzy and blues influenced. The way Megadeth pulls you into this sound is what I like about this band. And their lyrics actually have a meaning that in certain songs sound prophetic. I grew up a Metallica fan and Megadeth hater because as a Metallica fan your supposed to back then because “we” had kicked out Dave Mustaine because he was a violent drunk who punched James Hetfield dropping him on his back. What we didn’t know at the time was that James had kicked his pit bull puppy for chewing on Cliff Burtons Bass guitars. Then years later after Megadeth dropped the Rust in Peace album I was at a friends pool party and he had a song called 5 Magics playing when I got there and it was fire. But I had no idea I was hearing Megadeth, so my friend told me it was Megadeth. He then put on The Conjuring and I was mind blown. He gave me 2 CD’s named Peace Sells and Rust in Peace and told me that he knew we were Metallica fan boys but to give them a try and if I didn’t like them I could give them back to him. Have been a Megadeth fan ever since.
Asia, you're not alone among the ladies, very few were at any Megadeth or Metallica concerts in the '80s! They were watching the hair bands like Poison and Skid Row.
People used to think we were a bunch of angry kids, well.... we were lol. That listened to Megadeth back in the days, tshirts and everything, BAck in the '80s and '90s. yes, technical heavy sound and chaotic but with great lyrical messages. lol
This is my Favorite song that this band plays. Seriously LOVE THAT THESE ARE THE WORDS WE SANG ALL TOGETHER as teenagers, IN THE 80's & it should still be the same way. ❤
*My favorite Megadeth song of them all.* Dave is guitar and sings. He was the original lead guitarist for Metallica. I saw Metallica with both Dave and Cliff in SF in early '83.
This was such a landmark song when it was released. The amazing piece about this is that the song still holds relevant as much today as it did when it first came out in 1982. I love the musicianship and of course, as I’m sure you’ve heard with lots of comments, the iconic bass intro Was used for MTV news. MTV was still really cool. Great song and a great reaction. This still kicks ass to this day! And you guys too!!
I partied with Megadeth in Philly and New York. They were a brand new band and they opened for....of all bands Squeeze. My friend and I met a DJ who got us into the after concert party in philly and we were invited to go see them again the next week in NY.
The video for this was cool. There’s this kid watching the video to this song and the video showing the evils that men do and his dad comes in and shuts the tv off and say’s “I want to watch the news”. The kid turns the tv back on and says “ This is the news”.
As a kid I would listen to disco, some rock and pop music. I wouldn't get into heavy metal at all. Once I got to high school I dived into metal right away so fast that I now have around 300 tapes, over 300 CD's and building up on vinyl records but only those albums that deserves to be purchased on this format. Megadeth is my favorite. Funny story: I was once cleaning and organizing my closet and found a special edition magazine about Madonna. I started to glimpsed on it and came across a questionnaire which was already answered (hand written), so I started to read it and two of the questions got my attention. Which genre of music you like? Which genre of music you dislike? When I got to the second, I read: heavy metal. I was amazed of how I could have possibly answered that I dislike heavy metal. I even analyzed the hand righting to se if it was really me that answered it. Yes, it was me. At that time I was listening to metal all day long as much
If you ever looked at one of these thrash metal or speed metal bands drums their are small bits and pieces of wood from the drumsticks in the drumheads.
kept a copy of this album my whole life since 86...my favorite album ever. sentamental value and what not. from 9 to 45 yrs old always kept a copy and still listen to it today
I'm 50 now and I remember being like 15 years old loving this song and band. So glad metal and classic rock and early rap shaped my growing mind. And you guys are great 👍
In case u are wondering, this is what a band tripping on heroin sounds like... 😂Back in 1985, Megadeth was mainman Dave Mustaine (vocals/guitar) , David Ellefson (bass), Chris Poland (guitar) & Gar Samuelson (drums)... Poland and Samuelson came from jazz music backgrounds prior to joining Megadeth in 1983/'84, so they were involved w/ heroin, and they brought that habit into the band... Mustaine had been a drug dealer since he was a teen, but this was hardcore drug use. And Ellefson was the kid of the band who got into the habit to keep up... When Megadeth toured in 1986 for the 'Peace sells' record, the band members were literally fighting each other on a regular basis ... When they came home after the tour, both Poland & Samuelson were fired for pawning Megadeth's equipment for drug money... Mustaine & Ellefson hired Jeff Young (guitar) & Chuck Behler (drums) in 1987 to record the next Megadeth album 'So far, so good, so what!' Gar Samuelson died in 1999 from liver failure after years of drug abuse. Chris Poland said he got clean after being fired from Megadeth, and still makes music today.
Learn to love all members of all bands, without all of them coming together at the right moment we would have never gotten such great music to have eargasms to - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNSS ✌☮
Megadeth is one of the big 4 of thrash. Along with Slayer, Anthrax, and Metallica... That being said, may i suggest Slayer - South of Heaven or Anthrax - Among the Living?
Back in 1988 as a spotty out of control irresponsible idiot with a death wish standing in the middle of a muddy field with a 120,000 other metalheads in the pouring rain , high, drunk and totally wasted and Megadeth kicked in to Peace Sells. It was a fucking magical moment and everything just fitted in to place. A very maturing moment when your only 17, the message was loud and clear. I will admit the magical moment could have been the drugs kicking in but a moment in life i will never forget.
I always give all kinds of music a chance and what appeals to one... might not appeal to another . Like I've said before my music collection goes from Patsy Cline to Meshuggah ( over 1500 albums and over 160 concerts ) and I love it all.
Marty Friedman gets a lot of credit for being the bands best lead guitar player and deservedly so given the records released during his time in the band. But for me personally, Chris Poland was the best guitar player in Megadeth's history. Those first two records he played on, nobody sounded like him at that time. He is a very underrated player.
You are on the road to becoming metal heads.... before you know it you'll be jumping off the couch slinging hair head banging like Beavis and Butthead 😂😂.... you guys are awesome and welcome to the realm of metal... enjoy the rollercoaster ride that's to come 🤘😎🤘
This... (cassette I'll call it) came out just in time for the war with Anthrax-Indians/Slayer-Angel of Death/Metallica-Master of Puppets/ and this was their big song. I still like this album the best of Megadeths'. Slayer has me mixed between 3 or 4 or their own stuff. It's great that Mustaine and Hetfield separated. Otherwise only 1/2 the music would exist
Dave Mustaine is not only an awesome guitarist he is the lead singer. 3 of my favorites and also worth your time and reaction videos are Hangar 18, In My Darkest Hour, and Sweating Bullets.
You both gave me chills all over my body! The best reaction ever. And I like all of your reactions. You both would appreciate "Hook in Mouth" from Megadeth. Killer song about the PMRC. The PMRC is The Parent Music Resource Center, lead by Tipper Gore (Al Gores wife). You guys will definitely understand it and appreciate it
Ah, this brings me back to my childhood. Jean jackets with buttons and long nights in front of bond fires talking with friends. What a deep lyric. "Peace sells, but who's buying" Think about it...
when I was a teenager I listened to bands like Megadeath and Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Slayer.. what's strange is that on the radio or TV you never heard this music, it was always pop or rock.. it seemed if I knew cool songs from a parallel universe.
If you would like experience an earthquake you have to listen to Wake Up Dead by Megadeth from the same album. Best thrash metal song ever. That Is actually The Thrash Metal Song
Megadeth has been called "Intelligent Speed Metal"... I agree.
More like the father of trash metal 🤘
Totally agree. Megadeth and Priest (later Maiden) are what got me in to metal. Just couldn't get into Metallica until later.
Hey, cool reaction. People always assume metal is just long haired guys screaming. They're actually masterclass musicians with meaningful lyrics. The world will always try to tarnish good things. 100% and they hold because they have depth of content
Agree with your message on the metal and the truckers 🤘
The Bassline makes this song!
The theme to MTV News back in the day.
What makes this album unique is Chris Poland comes from a blues and jazz guitar background.
The intro is classic, but the chorus, and the way Dave sings it....."If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line"......LOVE IT!
@@jonathanmartin3767 Forever burned into my brain! 🔥🧠
Heavy metal is such a unique style of music. Most people just complain that its noise and screaming. But if you actually listen to the instruments & lyrics heavy metal tells some of the best stories in the world
I agree.
The bass line is classic. It was the opening for MTV News for a long time.
To my understanding, Dave wrote this about how people at the time viewed heavy metal fans
with Kurt Loder
I 100% cannot hear that base line without thinking about Kurt Loder and MTV news.
Listening to Asia describe the feeling of getting over the shock of metal and realizing you love it gave me goosebumps.
What do you mean I don't believe in God?... I talk to him everyday. Always loved that opening line in the song. Asia and BJ liking metal🤘
It's funny how many old-school hip hop fans end up liking heavy metal. They're similar in that they both have something serious to say especially concerning social injustices and prejudices. Anthrax was way ahead of their time with I'm the Man bringing Rap into the thrash realm. Then later with Anthrax/Run DMC Bring the Noise.
The first Megadeth song that I heard that I liked was Angry Again from the Last Action Hero soundtrack. The next one was Symphony of Destruction. Either of these songs, plus Addicted to Chaos, would be great for a reaction.

This song always reminds me of Headbangers Ball on MTV late Saturday nights
Dave Mustaine is the main rhythm guitarist in Megadeth, but he can definitely solo also. They've had a revolving door of lead (solo) guitarists. My favorite is probably Marty Friedman. Check out Tornado of Souls for one of his most epic solos.

When MTV still was a music oriented channel, the bass l iij ne was the intro to MTV News.
The more we all get to appreciate our differences, the more we realize how much we have in common!
Those of a certain age will recall the baseline was the theme for MTV news for about 10 years. Back when MTV played music.

Asia, you're not alone among the ladies, very few were at any Megadeth or Metallica concerts in the '80s! They were watching the hair bands like Poison and Skid Row.
My ideal boyfriend in the 80's had bigger hair than me,and more makeup than me.lol I miss those days
MEGADETH... All time favorite!
People used to think we were a bunch of angry kids, well.... we were lol. That listened to Megadeth back in the days, tshirts and everything, BAck in the '80s and '90s. yes, technical heavy sound and chaotic but with great lyrical messages. lol

Guys, you have to react to "She Wolf" live by Megadeth. Drum and guitar work is INCREDIBLE on this performance!!!
Metal has some of the greatest, most dedicated and talented musicians of ANY genre.
This was such a landmark song when it was released. The amazing piece about this is that the song still holds relevant as much today as it did when it first came out in 1982. Dave was always really cool to people when you were able to meet him.
Never thought to read the lyrics and ive known this song for about 10 years. Now being older its scary how relatable those lyrics are.
Dave Mustaine and Chris Poland on the other guitar, Gar (RIP) on drums Ellefson rocking that bass.
Legendary Lineup!
I think Asia's hands are larger than BJ's.... she is gonna beat him senseless!
The video for this was cool. There’s this kid watching the video to this song and the video showing the evils that men do and his dad comes in and shuts the tv off and say’s “I want to watch the news”. The kid turns the tv back on and says “ This is the news”.

1st metal album i discovered at age 9 in 86..changed my life. been a metal and punk head since

Such good choices
Think Testament should be in the mix. "Practice What You Preach" would be a great start.
Back in 1988 as a spotty out of control irresponsible idiot with a death wish standing in the middle of a muddy field with a 120,000 other metalheads in the pouring rain , high, drunk and totally wasted and Megadeth kicked in to Peace Sells. I like the fact that BJ is one of the few reactors who actually reads up on the musicians.

Megadeth "angry again" is one you need to listen to
the most iconic MTV intro was this!! for years !!! ICONIC intro
Megadeth She Wolf (Live Rude Awakenings) will blow you away, must be this live version though
I love how she gets into it on the solos and how he gets into the drums or the rhythm of the song
YALL ARE SOOOOO BEAUTIFULL 🤍
PLEEEASE DO MORE MEGA , FAM ..
502 , NEVER WALK ALONE ,
ANYTHING FROM YOUTHANASIA ,, ETC ETC ETC

great pick again, one true classic! what a pity you don´t show official videos anymore
Why do ya think I'm broke! Great son truly enjoyed it thanks.
Check out Ice T's heavy metal band, 'Body Count'. Perhaps start with the song 'Born Dead' - great lyrics.
Gar Samuelson was a great drummer with Jazz and Fusion roots.
"Rattlehead" off of the first record is probably my favorite Megadeth track
That first record is just face melting
If I ever run for public office, even school board, this is my Campaign Song!!!
Saw Savatoge, Megadeth and Dio back in the day, GREAT triple bill👍👍👍
3:41 bless you
Dave Mustaine is not only an awesome guitarist he is the lead singer. 3 of my favorites and also worth your time and reaction videos are Hangar 18, In My Darkest Hour, and Sweating Bullets.
This song is one of my favorite set of lyrics.
Mustaine's also singing BJ.
🥰 love Megadeath...Good pick!!!
Their transitions are amazing 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Dave mustane was originally in Metallica until 1983 I think
You just listened to one of the songs off the top 10 metal albums of all time. “Peace Sells…But who’s Buying”

The PMRC is The Parent Music Resource Center, lead by Tipper Gore (Al Gores wife).
You guys will definitely understand it and appreciate it
Great choice! Amazing band 💜💜💜
there re 2 guitarist on this album thead is Chris Poland he and Dave are ping and ponging back and forth lead solos
I keep thinking back to Asia laughing her ass off to that cat attacking that dog in a different video. Her laugh is contagious.
Foreclosure of a Dream sums up everything in one song, Hit that joint up!!
This is like a metal anthem
I love the reaction. It reminds me of when i heard it for the first time in 1986.
Dave Mustain is a musical genius. Should see how he wiped the floor with everyone on rock n roll jeopardy.
Everyone needs a heavy metal epiphany. 🤘🤘
Ah, this brings me back to my childhood. Jean jackets with buttons and long nights in front of bond fires talking with friends. What a deep lyric. "Peace sells, but who's buying" Think about it...
i'm so bummed I missed your live last night! I had to hit the rack early. Great reaction..
They are one of my fave bands to see live ^_^
You notice that it's always the female that seems to get the heavy metal concept first hahaha love it
when I was a teenager I listened to bands like Megadeath and Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Slayer.. what's strange is that on the radio or TV you never heard this music, it was always pop or rock.. it seemed if I knew cool songs from a parallel universe.
Just hearing her say megadeth y'all made me smile. Like when ice t said "motorhead fool"
One of my favs..symphony of destruction.
Dave splits the solos with whoever is the other guitarist. They all are really good.
Peace Sells my fav Megadeth album!
MEGADETH song FORECLOSURE OF A DREAM
Just love Dave M. , he writes some deep songs !! 🎵 Hope he's doing 👍!!
Love your reactions!!! Please check out “ In my darkest hour” from Megadeth. It’s an amazing song. Keep up all the good work.
Good analyses!!! Congratulations for your channel
"Practice What You Preach" by Testament and "All We Are" by Warlock. Give them a try.
Whats cool about Megadeth Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland have a background in jazz. You can hear tthat influence in their songs
Megadeth, holy wars
If you would like experience an earthquake you have to listen to Wake Up Dead by Megadeth from the same album. Best thrash metal song ever. That Is actually The Thrash Metal Song
The show last night was fire. Loved it!
