TLDR of Tri's Story:-

I swear, this was NOT meant to be a 6 part series. This is a 1 hour special plot AT BEST, the fact that the writers want me to be invested in the plague cat that barely has any characterization for 6 movies is delusional. I wanted it dead by the 2nd movie and why should i care if it dies? because meiko would be sad? why would i care if Meiko is sad? She's a trash OC. The only good thing that came out of this was the backstory of Original Heroes.
What really boggles my mind the fact that they didn't have any qualms killing off maki&Daigo and yet they couldn't have some humans die to make Taichi be hesitant about Digimon battles, his aversion to fighting would make sense if he like saw someone getting killed in the crossfire but no, the most we see is some broken cellphones. And now that i think about it, Taichi should've been making everyone stop fighting and yelling at MImi for being reckless. Taichi should've just went to the Digital World because waiting for threats to appear in the Real World is DUMB, especially for a taichi that wants no one to get hurt, this is my major complaint with the show, the main characters are REACTING to the plot instead of being proactive and driving the plot forward.
Let's also not forget that Digimon Adventure Tri was not even created by the original creator of Digimon she didn't even take part in its creation or production, let's also not forget that Digimon Adventure Tri was originally meant to rewrite the ending of the 02 epilogue but nope apparently the 02 epilogue is still Canon,
Toei Animation literally trolled the fans

As someone that loved the OG Adventure and 02(well to an extent), I'm glad to hear someone else just felt tired while watching it. Honestly after the 1st or 2nd movie I just wanted it to end, it was so bad and tiresome to watch I can't believe I managed to watch all 6 movies.
Digimon was one of few franchises that used to have good looking CGI, even when it was low budget. Digievolutions in Adventure, 02, Tamers and Saver/Data Squad are great ones.
I can keep watching the Agumon warp digivolution scene and get hooked. But Tri is so bland... and cheap. Even when the animation looks good and the fights, they just aren't memorable because we aren't emotionally invested.
Remember when Greymon became MetalGreymon the first time? It only used one attack before disappearing and the animation wasn't impressive nor the fight, but it was a stay with you moment. Because we went with Tai's character arc and struggles as he got rewarded with a proper evolution.
The Megas in Tri come out of nowhere with no indication and don't feel like they matter. The Champion Evolutions in Adventure were handled better like Biyomon's first evolution or all the Armor Forms back in the day.
But these Mega Forms? They appear just too sudden and they feel like they could have accured at any part of the franchise like a generic Champion evolution. But these are MEGA forms. The ultimate stages of a Digimon threated less important than when the first time they reached their Rookie stage. Which is a disappointment.
The only exception would be Tentomon's final form because of the context in the series and the involvement of Izzy's crest.
Sorry but Tentomon digivolving to Herakles Kabuterimpn was lame,Izzy didn't seems to have that moment in which his Knowledge's trait is showed. In Adventure 2020 was way better in how Tentomon got his mega
Flanderizations in Digimon tri are like bugs in Warcraft 3 reforged: both are sins where these things wasn't known for
Thank you for this review. Also, it feels like this was just a review of the 1st Digimon series, not the 02 characters. TK just barely made that cut, but they forgot the 02 character growth. Kari-what did they do to her. Also-Ken had the largest character growth of all of them-and bridged the gap between teens and kids, and sure as hell would never have died so quick-he tended to look and listen of some sort of trouble was coming. It's like they forgot 02 AND character growth in the digimon themselves.
For claiming you're just a casual fan, you nail it on the head on so many problems this pathetic mini series had. What a disappointment, since there were actually some cool aspects, but just like everything else, they're left unanswered in exchange for pointless or boring sh*t. Also character bastardization left and right : Tai suddenly being a scaredy cat over destruction after, you know, witnessing and battling Digimons that destroyed an entire city block. Matt reverting to edgy rival again. No one giving a damn about the 02 kids, since that series received the same treatment as the Star Wars Prequels in the (god-awful) Disney Trilogy (to which Tri can be easily compared to).
Just coming back to this frustrates me to no end. And Last Evolution Kizuna, while slightly better, hardly made up for Tri.
Even if Digimon The Movie from 2000 was crap, not only the stories was nowhere near as stupid as in Tri but also it has really good animation (it was one movie when Tri has 6 with terrible animation) & the Characters were decent at least.
Digimon The Movie was crap because US censored the living zh1T out of 3 OVAs. Tri was originally horrible, US didn't need to censor anything to make it this bad.

OH GOD Digimon Tri, what a huge insulting piece of garbage.
from the lack continuity of the original series & 02 made, the terrible character development of both the old and new characters, terrible art style & animation, plot confidence, Terrible Villains, Confusing and Terrible Story, the pointless Death of Leomon and lastly Meiko & Fucking Meicoomon.
We waited over a decade for a sequel of Digimon Adventure and THIS is what we get?
The Pokemon Anime at least try to make something good with every new Era of the series even when they don't follow the continuity half the time.

I don’t understand modern digimon materials obsession with “you WILL lose your bond with your digimon as an adult. There’s nothing you can do.”
Their eyes being smaller was quite jarring also what the hell was the plot?
Even with others explaining it in in reviews, I’m still confused what the plot was too, or confused why make tai a complete wimp about collateral damage that was honestly nothing compared to when they were dealing with myotismon and his digivolution to venom myotismon.

If only Ophanimon had been in these movies. It wouldn't have fixed anything in the story, but I could've at least forgiven the movies with her inclusion.
I actually like the intro theme for the dub, it’s not exactly a remix of the original digimon adventure dub theme but it sounds almost completely faithful to it. I love the goofy energy of the original digimon dubs and that new theme carries the spirit so well. I honestly wish they had something similar for 02: The Beginning. It would give some life to that movie, it really needs it
Edit: I’m also super glad that even some of the original dub cast came back to voice their characters, especially Joshua Seth as Tai and Tom Fahn as Agumon. They just don’t feel like the same characters without the original actors, at least to me. Super excited for the movie collection 1 though!

I was watching this and thinking "I don't remember these movies being that bad and I just watched all six in a row last year." Then I remembered I turned them on while studying for finals and that's why I don't remember it being bad cause I was barely watching it.

The thing that pissed me off the most was that you have massive amounts of shirtless guy fanservice in the bathhouse scene, then when it comes time to do fanservice of the girls cheerleading it's a damn slideshow.
As an OG Digimon Adventure enjoyer since it aired in America in 2000
• Mei is annoying
• The way they dismiss the 02 kids and just. Don't care about them being missing?? Nah man fuck that lol go find them kids
• i hate Vic as Matt. I honestly do not care about the allegations in regards to his performance, i just don't like him in this role. They could've gotten Michael Reisz since funimation got most of the other OGs but they were either too cheap or homophobic or idk what ANYWAY
• The plot is dumb. The way they deal with the plot is dumb. The anime tropes (hot spring, school festival, etc) are dumb.
• all the great character moments from Adventure is missing. They're basically just their surface-level selves without any of the depth they had in the original. Matt is a tsundere asshole. Sora is A Woman. Izzy is Tech Nerd. Mimi is selfish. Joe is obsessed with school. TK and Kari are non- characters. It's like they reverted back to who they were prior to going to the Digital World.
• There were SO MANY things they could've done that would've been cool but instead they went the most basic route and reset the Digimon just for Sad Points and to make future fights harder

40:23. This is the reason the 02 cast got sidelined, they did that in hurrricane touchdown. Well mainly Davis and Wallace and guess who also had a piece of apoclyomon in them.....Kokomon. And guess what Kokomon died in the real world no overlap either and got reborn with no evil data.
Not giving a shit about the 02 members disappearing is normal, I myself try to pretend that season didn't exist.

Yes, moving on from death is difficult. But it is an issue when you let it stew for over a decade/childhood to adulthood and take it out on the world/kids like Maki did. At that point, you seek a therapist, not revenge. I do feel sorry for your loss though.
Tri was one of the worst shitty sequels ever,too many plot holes and dumb excuses
Why couldn't they just bring back daemon as the villain of the tri series
At the end of the 6th movie gennai mentions that the next digimon could be daemon or diaboramon but its left as a cliffhanger thats never resolved even years later
I will still complain about the character design, and not because of small eyes. It is that the faces are all the same! I remember the first teaser poster to come out, you could swap the character's faces and nothing would change. Hair and glasses became the only defining features especially when they're all wearing school uniforms for most of it. Zapped so much of the personality away from them.

I could give a huge message why I hate Digimon Tri, but instead i'll just say this.
I love Digimon Tri Abridged far better than Digimon Tri, I watched it once and that was it I have had no urge to rewatch it.
