- In each episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. In this episode, Jimmy builds a curio box to hold the many odds and end he finds. Check out his free-form box joint technique.

Jimmy, you need another TV show! This whole, every other Wednesday, thing is not enough! I always end up going back and watching previous projects.
You never disappoint us Jimmy.
Thank you !!!!!
I love the hinges, I had one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments watching that.
This videos should be uploaded more frequently, they are the only reason I'm subscribed to MAKE
Cool! Halfway through, I thought,"Wait. An all wood project? Wheres the metal?"
Wasn't disappointed!
I love how you made your box joints with such simplicity, there is another youtuber that made a box joint rig, that all these gears and complicated stuff. I love how you achieved the same precision but with such simplicity. The way you work with wood is awesome.
Bryce A Yeah, but if I recall correctly. Matthias' jig can do multiple sizes (by adjusting his gear system). DiResta here has to make a new jig (or a new insert) everytime he wants a different size for the joints
Jeroen Demaeght I think all he does is cut a small piece of wood to size and hot glues or super glues it to the slide table. When he is done he can just pop it off.
You make me think of my future visits to the tool store. Seriously. Every man after watching your videos feels like, oh well I can do that too, and now I Must! (one day).
Thus MAKE is the most inspirational channel on youtube.
Thank you very much for that.
Man watchin' you beats my morning cup of coffee. What I wouldn't give to do it all over again as your apprentice. Love it Jimmy. Keep it comin'
Jimmy DiResta is the man. I just voted for the Ford Transit 10k thing but I'm disappointed I only found out about it today. Jimmy, if you reply to this comment you'll make my week.
Thank you for voting !!!!!! have a great week !
I've leaned again SOOO many things ! Brilliant
Wow, nice box joint jig. Easily customized joint dimensions. So simple and yet so ingenious. Thanks!
Wow I love the way each side interlocks with another, the way it opens is really cool too! Also, great choice of items to put on the top, the colors look great.
The DiResta videos hypnotizes me. Awesome.
I am convinced the only thing you would fail at is trying to do crappy work. It is fascinating watching you work
Thank you Jimmy.
A pleasure to watch you work Sir, a lovely project every time!
Jimmy DiResta I really like how you do those fingers on the end of the boards. I know Matthias Wandel has his box joint jig which is also cool, but if you could do a video or include a section showing how you do yours, it would be great. I like the simplicity of your system. Do you make the spacer to suit? is it hot glued in place? etc etc. Great video as always, I always look forward to the next one!
You're the man jimmy. Can't get enough of your videos!
This is awesome. Love the hinge.
I gave it a thumbs up just for the hinge alone.
You make everything look so easy to MAKE!
that 50 cal
I was raised right. lol.
Hah! I would had never thought of making a box and lid that way. Ingenious!
I get so hyped when I see another DiResta video!
mee too :)

Planning on making this for my desk. It's a beautiful design!
I watched all of your videos. Another great video! Thank you.
Greez from Germany
A great artist and teacher as always!
Wow! unbelievable!
Good stuff as always. Thanks, Jimmy.
Awesome! My 2 favorite parts: using epoxy to fill the gaps in the finger joints (genius!) and the hinges you made/used. Seriously dope box.
Jimmy is unbelievable. Is the Master.
Never cease to amaze.
Another great video! I always learn a new technique or trick when you post a new video. Keep up the good work!
Another awesome work of art.
Those are some tiny box joints! I like!!
Great video. Might have to try this one myself sometime. Thanks for sharing!
Simple, yet elegant. can be changed for what ever use you would like it for.

This is a cool box. Thanks for the video.
Enjoyable!! It was worth a look.
Your skills are amazing!
i very much enjoyed the time lapse tutorial! favorite part was the slow-mo at the end :P
Winner Hinge Idea! Non Flip-Top lid ideal for workshop. Less chance of tipping over. And my router table. Good to know.
Nice box joint jig!
Wow, I was waiting for this.
learned more from him than the shop classes at school
Great video. Going to go make one of these for my self
My week is complete.
Very neat, I have a padlock just like that, and half a possum jawbone in my old box, maybe it's your other half!
Wow! that is a great curio just for men.
THANX again for share.
Where is the two thumbs up button? Great job. Thanks for sharing.
Great job!
Very nice job!
Just found your work. You are pretty incredible. Beautiful work. I think I'm buying some new "toys".
Respect for the masters! :D
Awesome as usual
besides all the creepy stuff you glued in the front is a good looking box I would buy it.
Really cool lift top, I'm going to have to try that.
oh man that is just too cool. love the way you get by without a gazzillion tools. thumbs up :)
So cool!
Great job, as usual!
Wow amazing you are great jimmy sir
awsome box .
Thanks for the idea on the router!
One of your best, keep it up
Very nice project!
nice work ... very nice details
Outstanding 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow. I think I met you briefly at Maker Faire Bay Area earlier this year, but I didn't know who you were. I have since watched all your videos and whenever a new one is published, it becomes my favorite video that week. Amazing to watch you work and also to see the huge range of things you set out to create and then execute so masterfully. Are there practice versions that didn't turn out as well that don't make it on UA-cam? :)
Love it!
You never fail to impress me! :D
Diresta was the guy who wrote his name on all the desk in school
Damn! That guy works fast!
amazing, bravo!
You should've give Frank Howarth some credit, but I like your take on it.
power tools sound adorable in fast forward
Bravo!!!
very very good job
Nice!
Not a fan personally of the two tone wood on the box but great idea with the box construction!
Amazing...
As always tiptoppingpongpiddlytastic
Happy Christmas.
is there any thing you haven't built or have new life to your channel is awsome.
I thought you were going to fill the top with epoxy level with the wood instead of leaving the 3D vibe. cool box
nice work
