    Al, great idea. Now you have one for the house and one for the shop. Nice project.

      Thanks Paul I actually did a gate out of pallet wood and put up the doors on the shelves but in the end figured I would just highlight one project. I still need to get some vinyl so I can make the tardis on the shelves

    That's a great idea and love that it repurposes the wood that someone else would burn! Nice work fella!😁👍

      I am not a "lathe" turner but I can see how someone can get hooked.

    Great use of the up cycled pallet wood. (Careful with pallet sawdust, it can contain pesticides)

    • @kilroy79763
      @kilroy79763  3 роки тому

      Great point Sapper...I watched a video on safety the other day and that is something I will be emphasizing more. Those pallets I use are not treated they are just kiln dried so it "should" be ok. In any case one should always observe safety by wearing breathing hearing eye and other protective gear.

    Nicely done Kilroy! You really transformed an old piece of pallet wood.

      Yep - turning that pine was not all that hard either - I really enjoyed it. I thought it was going to be harder. I also made some doors and a gate for bella...look in the discord. Not sure if I like the way kilroy came out...I still can redo him... cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/454398030259552257/483478489975095306/20180826_191854.jpg

      I need to change the head the proportions are not right. I used a piece of pallet wood I had thinking I was going to enter it in the contest but just entered the back scratchers

    These and your videos are lovely. I could be being persnickety, but I found myself watching wondering when you were going to define the fingers of the back scratcher more trying to guess which machine makes it easiest, but hey my Dad had the shop, it went to my brother. He let it go with the childhood house and is traveling the country in an RV. Drats. Really great job, Al. Truly beautiful. I can also see where defining the fingers might up the challenge a few notches. peaking of upping the challenge, You gonna try for one that has rollers on the other end? Hmmm...and a hole through it so you can hang it up in a place of honor and "not lose yet another backscratcher ever again?" Especially a homemade one? That is the rationale I used for one at a flea market made of bamboo, which is a different animal than a pallet, I understand. I cleaned it up really well, and it hangs near my computer. It suffices. GREAT VIDEO!

      Odessa Woodworking and Maker Shop Jacksonville I live 5 miles away fr Atlantic Ocean and on other side of me 2 miles fr St Johns River which is the only river in the United States that runs in to the Atlantic ocean so I get freshwater and saltwater fish plus I have a lake in my backyard that we own some of along with other neighbors. It’s the perfect location. If you can do with the heat and humidity here like yesterday 95 feel like temperature was 102degrees. Take care

    • @kilroy79763
      @kilroy79763  6 років тому

      I love the area but the humidity I don't like. I was working on the whirligig in my sister's garage and I was miserable. I live in Texas and it's a "dry" heat. She lives in Lakeland and there are plenty of lakes as you know. Thank you and have a great day.

      Odessa Woodworking and Maker Shop yes I was born in Nebraska and lived there till I was 16 so for my childhood I got to e experience all the seasons and being a tornado survivor it took our whole City the stairs was the only thing left when we came out of cellar. Then survived although I was a young toddler the biggest blizzard. I love that I have seen both sides of growing up since moving to Florida we survived a couple hurricanes. Mother Nature is a force.
      It took me 2 yrs to get use to the extremely humid hot days here in Florida but now I would not ever want to leave. However you have to leave your AC running all year long if you don’t the humidity and salt air will destroy you house cars u name it. Lots of high electricity bills that’s for sure.
      But I don’t want anymore tornados or winter storms. I just like to visit lol.
      Lakeland is very pretty and some parts country for Florida. Glad u can visit and nothing feels better than to visit but to return to home sweet home.
      Take care nice talking to you.
