Nordstrand ACINONYX Bass Demo

- Lovingly nicknamed the "Cat Bass” in the workshop, The Acinonyx is an insanely cool, somewhat weird, and deceptively menacing instrument. This bass has all of the playability and phat tone you would expect from a short scale, plus the added fun of the tone control switches. Tone choices are available with a push of a button. Go “All In” by punching all of the buttons at once, which puts the pickups in series mode resulting in a a loud, thick, and punchy tone. The 1 over 3 headstock may seem unusual, but it provides straight string pull while honoring the original aesthetic of the Goya Panther.

Love the base, and I’m glad it’s a short scale. It has a real nice tone.
I can appreciate the bass' history and improvements over the original design. Not my favorite looking bass but hey, I'm sure folks who like traditional basses with modern advantages will dig it.
I still don't know how Geddy sings over that bass line ! I saw RUSH every tour since '85.
He’s an alien
You're man of culture . First show I've seen was snakes and arrows when I was like 9
Short scales are my favorite. I am looking for a teal or purple one
I've had this bass for 2 years now. I absolutely love it for the most part. It's perfect for me. Light, small, sounds amazing, neck is perfect, looks cool, I could go on. I will say, the bass was set up absolutely PERFECT out of the box. Good job there. I also got the custom gig bag, which rules too.
Only complaints are 1.) the stock saddles stink. Replace them ASAP. Hopefully they fixed these later on. The screws slip down on mine, and I've seen similar complaints online. 2.) The 2nd and 3rd eq options (sorry, I don't know what they are called) aren't very useful to me. Maybe others use them, but I wonder if the settings could be tweaked. 3.) The tuning heads look great, but don't seem quite as stable as other basses I've had. Very minor complaint there though. 4.) The string spacing might be too tight for some fingerstyle players. However, since I am a pick player this is not an issue.
Pretty nifty. I have a Nordenbocker pickup in my Ric---impressed with Nordstrand's stuff.
I bought one it's my favorite bass now...very versatle instrument...I highly recommand
Interesting bass, gonna have to try one, one day
Huge ups for the KISS bass line! 🤟
Love the lollipop tuners on that headstock. Cool bass!
That bass is killer!
I love how that bass sounds were can I get one at. Please let me know. I'm a huge fan of norstrand pickups I have them in all of my basses well two that's all I own and they sound great with norstrand pickups in them . Peace
Vital Signs! Yeaaahhhhhh!
The tone options are great but I'm too shallow to get past that horrible headstock.
You’re missing out!
The "Butter Face" of basses.
Mind on sharing the Kemper presets used for this video?
That’s an interesting bass. It kinda reminds me of a teisco bass.
That is pretty sweet! 😊👍
Looks like a cheap pawn shop bass at first, but sounds amazing 🤩
Nirvana!
When are you guys getting a Jackson on the channel ? 🧐
When are they going to be available again?
I believe they’re going to have another run this fall.
@@Stewr306 Thanks for the info.
Looks like "Кавказ" bass from Soviet Union. It's body was made of plywood while the neck was made of beech with beech fingerboard
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this one is slightly better but the plywood beechwood fingerboard combo sounds pretty interesting too!
Seafoam green and a parchment pickguard for me.
Headstock look awesome! Every other Headstock looks the same. However the buttons look very cheap
I bought this bass in the UK and it was shipped to Germany. The build quality is totally disappointing for a 1000 eur bass. I have seen 200 eur basses with similar quality. The volume knob was loose (turn 360°), the neck screw is totally stiff in both directions, under the pick guard are wood shavings pressed into the paint, the fingerboard wood is stained on one spot, the button screw heads are to big and scratching on the buttons and no white outline in the buttons for its functions anymore. (On stage you don't see anything)
In the moment I wouldn't recommend to buy the bass to anybody I know.
Dude, you're playing Love Buzz wrong.
It looks like a mix of every cheap European and Japanese knockoff instrument from the 60s
The body style looks pretty cool and it sounds pretty good. But that headstock doesn't look good to me. \m/
Looks tiny. Are you a giant?
It’s a short scale and yes I’m HUGE in Japan 😬🤷🏻♂️
you speak more than the bass.. 🥱
You’re super interesting too! Comment more with your Oxford English and complete sentences. It’s awesome! Thanks for watching!
