- Nordstrand Audio is rolling out their hot new short-scale bass. It's an updated take on the Goya Panther and the modern touches really make a difference in playability. The Acinonyx bass is very lightweight and very easy to play.

Great vid man! Very excited for these to come out.
Thanks, Hondo. Me too!
"In Lake Placid Blue? YES" words never rang so true, my friend 💙
Excellent demo review!! We bass players need more of these!!
Thanks, Karl! Need to get back on the horse, but I’m heads down working on an album right now.
You make me want to be a bass player again! Great review, wonderful-er playing. I think I might need one of those. A lot.
Go for it! Playing bass has been a great way to stay sane indoors. Thanks for the kind words.
Temple 💯❗ Great review of a great sounding bass 🤘🏻
Go owls! Thanks for watching, Steve!
Good for someone who has every bass already
Great video, hope to purchase one of these bad boys!
Thanks for watching, Tyler!
Sunday Papers! (the great Graham Maby) Thank you for the detailed and in depth review.
One of my favorite basslines :). Thanks for watching!
Nice demo. Best one I’ve seen for this bass.
Thanks!
I agree. Did you get one? Do you rate it?
This bass seems cool. I wonder what it sounds like.
*5 minutes later*
I NEED IT!
Haha!!
Sounds really good.
Thanks, KJC!
I actually really appreciate the fact that you know how to pronounce it acinonix :)
Thanks, Ricardo. Trying to be better about doing my research. :)
Check out the Atelier Z short scales for the Jaco thing and a more modern J-type sound, they kick ass, you'd like them.
Thanks for watching, qbass00! I’ll have to check them out. The point I was trying to make (inelegantly) is that it is fun to play something different. :)
Great vid! What was the awesome song you played at the start of the intro?
Thanks, lloyd! Anyone want to venture a guess? The clue is the video overlay.
What an awesome bass. Captain Dobey approved!
@@GildedEntries Nailed it! For those who don't recognize the track or footage, the intro is the Starsky and Hutch theme.
Nice video, there is models of short
basses with 5 string (high c)?
Hi Basilaras, short scale 5 strings are less common, but still exist. You could start by looking at the Ibanez Talman TMB35. You would have to switch the string configuration from low B to high C, but that is easy. If your budget is on the higher end, check out Serek, New York Bass Works, and Muckelroy basses. Great question and thanks for watching!
@@soundslikeben thx you!
Love it, but at $1,000 it’s a bit out of my range right now.
I enjoy playing bass but find playing a normal scale bass not physically enjoyable to play. Would you recommend this for someone with a shorter stature?
Do you still have that obs?
No, I sold it several years ago. It popped up for sale again last year on Talkbass.
What strings are on it?
It had the stock strings, but I don’t remember what they were.
The whole button thing seems a bit gimmicky to me. You can have any sound you want, so long as you can get it with our preselected options.
Just put the deposit down on a Lake Placid blue one!
Awesome!
your thoughts so far?
Joe Jackson!
Good ear! One of my all time favorite bass lines and tones.
I think you have just pushed me over the edge.
It is a cool bass for sure!
Ordered mine yesterday. And the wait is already too long...
how do you like it so far?
A Cheetah isn't a Panther though, its a Feline. Panthers can roar, Felines cannot.
Proportionally Cheetahs are longscale, with a proportionality long spine compared to other cats.
And now I know something I didn’t know before. Thanks, Lester!
Imagine during a live show, in the dark, under pressure - having to press all 4 buttons at the same time just to switch to ‘’series mode’. Such a needless complication. Whoever designed this is not a gigging bassist. Nor did the designer ask any gigging bassist if this was a good idea, because I guarantee you not a single one of them would have said Yes. This is over-engineering at its worst. A simple 2-way toggle switch would be much more user friendly.
I’ve found that the only thing that really gets me on a gig is fret markets that I can’t see. I’m looking at you, Fender American Original series!
Well, yes. It's mimicking a 60s style of controls. For me that's fine . Everyone who gets one I would bet has a 'normal' fender type bass at home already
Sounds really well. But boy is it ugly :-).
Beauty is in the eyeballs as they say…
@@soundslikeben Well, I've commented from my own account. So where is the argument?
No argument, friend. Just meant that everyone has their own view on what is beautiful.
