These chord progressions remind me of Ruby My Dear by Thelonious Monk. Might be the flat 9 has the walking bass sound and feel similar to what Monk uses on half diminished scales no? Not a jazz pianist so I'm not too sure on the proper reasons for this

Superb video. You are so good at explaining the concepts. As you said, no point knowing how to play and practice the drills if you cant implement them. I'm thinking of joining your website although I'm not a huge jazz fan but all these techniques can be applied to popular music?. Would you be in agreement re your videos? The last minute of this video gave me such insight of how to apply the 251 alterations to a melody. Thank you for this.
