I think it was this very same year when Johnny Carson asked Burt Reynolds if he was stranded on a desert island who he would choose to be with and he said Carol Burnett! Said he would rather spend time with someone who has a great sense of humor. When Carol was asked about this on one of her shows, she just batted her eyelashes like of course, who else would he pick?!! She is and was always such a classy lady. I will always love her. Such a fine comic who gave laughter to so many. This just goes to prove that the real comic's don't have to swear, or be crude, or be rude, in order to be funny. Carol was a true Artiste.
In 1978 I was in college and had the only TV on my floor of the dorm. Each Saturday from 10 to 11 there would be dozens of people jammed in my room to watch Carol. The keg wasn't tapped until she had tugged her earlobe and said "Goodnight". Not only isn't there any true entertainment on TV anymore - I doubt anyone much younger than 40 would even appreciate this stuff. Their loss.
Well, now you know why Zappa made those doo-wop parodies. It's of a popular musical period. And it's Steve Martin on Carol Burnett doing a beach movie. Brilliant.
Both television and music were TOPS. early 60's were good too. And of course there are some great classic form the late 50's. Music and TV were peaking throughout those wonderful years. After about the late 80's it wasn't the same or as consistently good. I was so sad when Carol ended her show in 1978. Saturday nights were never as good ever for television.
Brooke Kavanaugh I read where 1939 was the golden year for movies and 1957 for music. I would agree. Up for best picture in 1939: Stagecoach, Goodbye Mr. Chips, Gone With The Wind, Wizard of Oz, Of Mice and Men, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Dark Victory and a couple of other greats. Even the "B" movies were great! Now it's like politics-go for the least crappy choice.
@@gjc82071 I agree with most of what you have to say about the late 60's through early 80's, but the 50's and early 60's had some gems when it came to sitcoms ("I Love Lucy," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," and "The Patty Duke Show"), and the entire decade of the 80's had some great Saturday Morning Cartoons, in my opinion (though I'm biased since I was born in 1982).
Even though I up-loaded it... I still watch it every once in a while. LOVE those Burnett shows. Brilliant. Actually funny!! I actually laugh!! Great writing!!
Back in the day when this was on, I am not ashamed to admit to having a huge crush on Vicki Lawrence. Seeing this sketch, I absolutely remember why. She was a doll!
OH MY GOD IT'S STEVE MARTIN. I almost did a spit take and I'm not even drinking anything. I am SO glad I didn't read the comments before watching this.
Love it. Also, funny to think that at the time of this show, the movies parodied were only more or less 10 years old. Culture and times had changed so much by the middle 1970s. Trying to think of something funny from about 2000, being parodied today, I don't think that the pop culture gap would be as noticeable. Thanks so much for posting this! :)
I lived this, It's still hilarious! There's nothing on TV that compares today. So for those of you who are young, so glad you appreciate real (funny) entertainment. They are of course parodies, but life was really kinda like that back then. It was simple and goofy, but I miss it.
An I only one who finds Carol Burnett attractive? She's not "ugly". Not by any means. But she's hardly a supermodel type. I don't know what it is about her. Perhaps it's her apparent fun loving personality & sense of humor? Whatever it is, IMO she's sexy & attractive.
Holy shit this is epic... Steve martin and tim conway... the the 3 funniest women all inspired by the one lucile ball... that kinda thing is gonna be hard to find for the future... Loved this... the early green screen thing was hilarious too.
I'm only 20 and grew up watching reruns of Carol and a lot of other shows from around the same time. I have to agree, they just don't make comedy like this anymore..
They had run a contest to find a look-a-like of Carol. Vicki was on from the first show and the only one that stayed on all 11 years.(besides Carol herself) She had a hit record with the Billboard Hot 100 #1 "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" written by her 1st husband Bobby Russell. There were a few other songs but "Georgia" was the biggest. She's still performing!
its really funny seeing Vicki Lawrence out of her Mama costume! LOL! she still sounds like her though, that is the funny part! HA HA! Carol looks like a drag queen! HA HA! this is the best show ever! SO DAMN FUNNY! I love it!
Betty White as a biker chick? AWESOME! Let's face it, no matter what Betty White does, it will always be awesome, because Betty White is just awesome.
Steve Martin is so funny. I love this show, so wholesome, and entertaining. I wish they had variety shows like this now instead of all the reality TV.
Do what I did .. throw your tv out. I tossed mine over 20 years ago .. soooo peaceful... Haven't had one in my house since.

You’re probably right! I’m 37 and adore it but I also dig movies from the 1930s
RIP Betty White thank you for being a friend for 100 years we'll miss you greatly 🖤
this is from 1978 - so Betty is 57 - looks great

I bought a surfer’s cross on my high school trip 55 years ago. It was smaller than Tim’s, and was blue. I wish I still had it!
It's 1965 all over again!! Love it!
Bring back this kind of Tv Carol and Company is still the best
betty white, steve martin and carol burnett? Uau, what a great bunch! I love this. A Parody to Elvis movies and "Grease". Funny and so spot on!
That's Betty White? Holy cow!!!
+DanInBranson My thoughts exactly!!!!
+DanInBranson The younger generation doesn't realize there was a pre Golden Girl Betty White lol
***** I know there was one, I just didn't expect her to look like this.
rest in peace Tim, comedy legends all over this
And Betty. She just passed today 😭
Nothing on TV, with all of the networks out there, can compare to the Carol Burnett show. This was great entertainment.

When he pulled the mic out at 2:28....snort....bhwahahahah!
Betty is a fox!!! Looove this! Betty, Tim & Carol is some of the funniest people of all time!!
Hilarious! Classic Carol Burnett - she'll never be matched. Watched her every week "back in the day" She had fabulous writers.
Got to love Steve Martin, hilarious.
I grew up watching Carol Burnett and friends. Usually when I spent the weekend with my mom's parents. Great family entertainment.
The surfing scenes were amazingly realistic.
that was fairly new technology back then...
The golden age of television. :)
All the greats in one place!
Even though I up-loaded it... I still watch it every once in a while. LOVE those Burnett shows. Brilliant. Actually funny!! I actually laugh!! Great writing!!
I don't recall this skit..........hysterical! And Betty White is such a living legend!
No one does it quite like Carol and her gang! Kudos!!!
I'd pay big money to see the sequel to this done by these actors today!
I'm 29, and have enjoyed the reruns of Carol Burnett show for as long as I can remember. If it's good, you can't deny it, at any age.
Betty White was an icon. I will miss her.
I'm going to smile all day after watching this.
Back in the day when this was on, I am not ashamed to admit to having a huge crush on Vicki Lawrence. Seeing this sketch, I absolutely remember why. She was a doll!
Wow! That was great! Funny, funny, funny.
RIP Betty White. She will be missed.
Thanks for posting....... Wonderful
"Somethin' 'bout the smell of Coppertone. Gets me goosepimply all over." lmao!

OH MY GOD IT'S STEVE MARTIN. I almost did a spit take and I'm not even drinking anything. I am SO glad I didn't read the comments before watching this.
Pre little shop of horror. Love Carol Burnett. Wish we had someone like her now.
Carol was great. I wish they still made T.V. like this.
Love it. Also, funny to think that at the time of this show, the movies parodied were only more or less 10 years old. Culture and times had changed so much by the middle 1970s. Steve Martin ROCKS!!!
Can't believe the poster of this video didn't even mention the fact this is an early appearance by a young legend, Steve Martin!
man, Vicki Lawrence had a nice body!
moo cow Love the tassels.
love Steve Martin what a wild and crazy man
Tim Conway as the "Eric Von Zipper" character was awesome...what else could he be?!
That was great. Thanks for posting.
Evidently Carol Burnett felt the exact same way about these "beach" movies as I did.
Thanks for this post! Great nostalgia!
RIP BETTY WHITE...VERSATILITY...GREAT ACTOR...!

Love every minute of this. Had never seen it before. Thanks!
Tim Conway and Steve Martin; two generations of great comedians!
Loved it!
Carol Burnett is BRILLIANT!
OM Gosh! Does this ever make me nostalgic for the old shows. Clean fun all the way, entertaining and funny.
That surfing motor cycle was great.
Betty White looked great
She was one of the best deadpan comics ever to have lived.
I wish my generation appreciated these old classic comedies. The stuff on tv these days is downright awful--too many reality shows!! -_____-
Steve Martin is awesome!
I miss white lipstick! lol
51 people don't understand what real comedy is.
An I only one who finds Carol Burnett attractive? She's not "ugly". Not by any means. But she's hardly a supermodel type. I don't know what it is about her. Perhaps it's her apparent fun loving personality & sense of humor? Whatever it is, IMO she's sexy & attractive.
You're not alone.
No butt.
Carol Burnett is an utter babe. so you are not alone.
gjc82071 I agree.
She is "fugly."
Steve Martin was hunkish~
Seashore Girl still is
+Seashore Girl In a black slick-back wiggy sort of way.
I love Carol Burnett! I love her more than any other comedian!!!
Holy shit this is epic... Steve martin and tim conway... the the 3 funniest women all inspired by the one lucile ball... that kinda thing is gonna be hard to find for the future... Loved this... the early green screen thing was hilarious too.
Betty in black leather!
I'm only 20 and grew up watching reruns of Carol and a lot of other shows from around the same time. I have to agree, they just don't make comedy like this anymore..
Nice band/orchestra!!
They were so young!!! It's lovely to watch them beginning their successful careers...
I remember watching this! Love it!
Oh I loved this show. It's still funny as hell... the 2000s could really use one like this. Instead of stupid reality shows.
All my faves on one stage - what a classic bit of silliness!
steve is special, when he's singing this song.
Oh my Steve Martin!!!...cool. And Carol and Vicki were cute in one pieces. and Betty....HOT MAMA! :)
This is one long skit but with all the classics!
Love this so much 😂 -the first time I’ve made it all the way through a surf movie.
Four of the greats! Shades of "Grease."
This was great to watch.
Steve Martin!
Why spend two hours watching a beach bunny movie when you can spend 13 and a half minutes worth of Carol Burnett goodness. Oh yeah. Ha!
Took me a minute to realize that was Tim Conway. lol
This makes me happy😃
Betty White was 23 years older than Steve Martin in this skit.
Still is.
+David Grossenbacher Guy's got a point.
Frankie to Nanette:
"I can't wait for the wedding, I finally get to see you with your clothes on."
Oh that wax silly! Loved it!
Betty white was in her 50s when this was filmed! Crazy!
New appreciation for Vicki Lawrence "pre-mama!"...
its really funny seeing Vicki Lawrence out of her Mama costume! LOL! she still sounds like her though, that is the funny part! HA HA! Carol looks like a drag queen! HA HA! this is the best show ever! SO DAMN FUNNY! I love it!
Betty White was in her mid 50s here and looked absolutely stunning!
According to another poster this was an episode that either aired or was taped on March 5, 1978. So she would be 56 here. Amazing.
":I hope they gag on her hair " 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Beach Blanket Boo Boo. Second favorite next to "Went With The Wind"
Carol Burnett...best female comedian who paved the way for all those unfunny women on Saturday Night Live...
this should have been in the Betty White's 90th Birthday Tribute!
i
Between this, "King Tut", and the SNL "Wild And Crazy Guys", it looks like Steve Martin only has ONE dance move!
damn Vicki had nice legs
She did look pretty hot in this skit. I like the way she danced.
great tan too... well, compare to Carol's...lol
GO BETTY!!!! wow, betty white was a betty!
CLASSIC!
Miss Steve Martin doing comedy. Great that he's doing music but get back to doing stuff like this.
Your prayers have been answered
Wow, the music is actually an improvement on the originals! :)
