Hey everyone! Happy holidays! I’m so excited to share this video with you! Let me know if you traveled and where you are celebrating the holidays this year! 😍✈️
They are beautiful and lovable and can see why, you are so attentive and affectionate with them. Loved this! Thanks for the smooth vibes for my first flight with 3 year this weekend.✌🏽🥰
You know you’re a mom of a toddler when you go “wow that’s impressive!” When you see a toddler drinking out of a water bottle like a champ without getting herself messy😂
Going from portland to manchester with a 1 year old and 4 year old in May! Also your little are so cute thank you for this video....summer and winter stop thats too cute 💖💖
I have 6 month mo/di twin girls and this gives me hope that travel will be possible haha! We haven't traveled yet but have lots of family out of state! You have amazing tips too!! So glad I found your channel!!
Yay, twin girls!! So glad you’re here! Yes it’s totally possible to travel with them - so glad to share our tips & experiences with you! Thanks for watching; feel free to let me know if there are ever specific videos you’d like to see to answer certain questions! Here is another video I did about flying with our twins when they were only 9 months old - I hope this is helpful as well! ua-cam.com/video/7bAZsIEwhmE/v-deo.html
@@SummerWinterMom ooo thank you so much!! I'm a first time mom haha so anything twin related is helpful! I've been enjoying your day in the life videos also! I'll let you know if I think of anything specific!! Thank you so much! ❤
This video makes me feel sooo much better about the plane ride to Germany with my son that will be 1 year 7 months when we move! Would’ve never thought about putting a car seat in the plane seat!
Yes! The car seat totally revolutionized the smoothness of our flight! Let me know if you have any other travel questions & I’m happy to help if I can!
As a single mom of 20 month old twins.... just waiting until I can manage it ny myself with them. If only getting the carseats to the plane and then getting luggage and car seats from baggage claim to a rental car were something they'd do for a fee, we could manage it.
Yeah I also wish there were more resources like that but I found it to be difficult yet doable to fly alone with my twins around that age - but I didn’t have to check too many items because I had people picking us up on both sides. With that said for the flight portion, here are two videos of me flying alone with my twins - I hope that perhaps these can be helpful in some way! You go mama! 🙌 - part 1: ua-cam.com/video/MKeA8CN02FE/v-deo.html - part 2: ua-cam.com/video/FOC7Sp5dBdg/v-deo.html
Love your videos Carolyn ! You are all pros and the girls are ADORABLE! Those little boots, too!!!! We also have the Nuna rava and I haven't traveled with it yet. I am nervous because when I was flying with our infant car seat on a flight from Greece to Germany, I was told the infant car seat wouldn't fit in the seat and they almost made me gate check it! A little nerve wrecking when I don't have a case or anything for it. Anyways it worked out, but the unpredictability when you are traveling internationally can be so stressful! Also, I always ask the flight attendant which bathroom is biggest for changing purposes! Usually one is bigger (I think you know that already though!). Happy new year!
We thank you!! Yes we actually can relate so much to that experience… on the way back from Germany (video/story coming soon) they didn’t allow us to have our car seats even though we had tons of extra seats around us; they made us check them. As you can imagine I was less then thrilled… it was a much more exciting flight 😅 they did not want to sit still haha but we went with the flow and made it. So glad this flight was so smooth and I could share about it! With those two experiences I can definitely say flying with car seats is way easier. & Yes you’re totally right about the changing space! Happy new year!!
Another tips is to get premium economy when possible with wider seats and less people. Sign up for credit cards with miles / points when they have promotion (such as chase sapphire preferred sometimes run 80K-100K points bonus). Using points to travels business class / premium economy definitely worth it, especially with the babies.
Hi! Thanks for watching! So glad you found this helpful! Our twins flew for free until they turned 2 (booked as lap infants) but then once they turned 2 they were a full ticket. Then also if I flew alone with them then I would have to pay for one extra seat even before they turned 2 because there needs to be a second adult ticket for a second lap infants ticket. I hope this helps!
I am amazed at your girls and how well they travel! Did they stay in their car seats the full 10 hr flight?? If so that is absolutely amazing. I’m sorry little Summer got sick on the second flight. I hope she was okay. 💜
Thank you so much! They stayed in them for most of the time - we did take a breaks to get diapers changed and also just to play, sitting on our laps. But otherwise the car seats were definitely helpful and we kept them entertained while in there. I was also very happy with how smooth it went overall! Thanks for your love and support!
Hi. Do you have a video when you install the car seat on the plane? Also, I have the britax grow with you click tight plus. Will that fit on the seat? Thank you so much
and as for the britax grow, I am not currently super familiar with that one. I would look up the measurements from the aircraft you'll be on and compare it to the measurements of the car seat. You can also call ahead to the flight company to ask about their requirements. I hope this helps!
Question, how did you get an infant lap on seat ticket (under 2 free) and still be able to keep them in their car seats on the plan in a seat? They didn’t object?
Great question! So we have brought the seats with us multiple times when we only booked infant lap seat tickets and have had both experiences. It really just depends on who the agent is that checks you in, if they’re in a good mood, and also if there are extra seats available. I always just say be as friendly as possible and it can’t hurt to ask if you can have an open seat placed next to you. Then you can ask to bring the carseat to the gate for gate check. Here’s a video where things didn’t go as planned haha… ua-cam.com/video/gaLgV1dyGNY/v-deo.htmlsi=uRckxLQCxaCgCVVy
Hi! Great video! I have a question about the car seats. You said you didn’t know if you’ll find empty seats for the girls and that you booked them as lap toddlers. Then how did they let you bring car seats on the plane? What were you going to do with the car seats In case there were no available seats for them on the plane? I also wanted to ask what do you mean exactly by saying that your daughter got sick? Thanks!
Hey! Thanks! So if we bring the car seats and don’t book them a seat it’s a gamble on if they’ll let us bring them on but 4 out of 5 times we got lucky and had no issues. We just simply asked at the check in desk if there was open space and they even rearranged our seats to have open seats near us. There was only one time when the person said no (even though there were still open seats) and therefore we brought bags for the car seats to be checked in that event. It was a major bummer to not have them the one time that happened but it worked out just fine (that video is here if you’re curious; ua-cam.com/video/lML4xf4w-rg/v-deo.html). Regarding your question about one of my daughters getting sick - she just had too much milk during landing and threw up some of her milk during the pressure change. Poor little thing handled it like a champ. It was at the end of a 24 hour international flying day, & That’s the only time either of them has ever thrown up flying out of about 10 trips so not really something to worry about unless your little one is usually prone to car sickness, etc. hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Hi, thank you for your videos and the information you provide. travelling with 1 year twin girls soon, Just wondering did you book the seats for your babies too.
Hi! Happy to help! Before they turned 2 years old, we always booked their tickets as lap infants and always got lucky and hoped there would be extra seats. We asked at the check in desk if we could sit next to an open seat and usually they were very accommodating. Rarely have we had short flights where we needed to have them actually on our laps for the whole time. Then once they turned 2 we began always paying for their own seat 💺 Hope this helps! Happy travels!
Watching this two years later. We're going on a 6 hourb fluffy in October with a week be 2 year old and turning 4 on trip. We're taking car seats. What is it like going through TSA with a car seat in the little cart?
That’s so exciting! Hope it all goes great! Going through security we would have to take it all apart and show them the whole seat but then it’s easy to get it back together. 🥰
Omg thanks for sharing this video! I have a trip planned to Jamaica with my 21 month old daughter and I will be travelling by myself. Love the idea of the travel carts for the car seats. Can you please share your review on it? I plan to use that same model with a Clek Foonf car seat. Thanks
Hi Carolyn, if you can help with a few questions about installing this on the plane, it will be greatly appreciated. I'll be bringing my son on his first trip! - Was forward facing easier than rear facing? - Did you have to ask for a seat belt extender? - In the manual, it says "install aircraft belt ON TOP of closed True Tension Door and under Seat Cover." but I noticed you did it under the true tension door. Was that easier? Thank you
Hi, so it is definitely best to follow the instructions in the manual. When I did it the first time with the belt under the true tension door I later realized it might not have been correct so definitely make sure to follow the manual (I am not a certified car seat installer or anything, just a mom trying to also figure it out haha) but I will say it worked out great having it facing forward (I don’t think there is enough space for it to face backwards) As for the seatbelt extender I didn’t need it. I hope this is helpful! Sorry for any confusion! Hope you have a great trip 🥰
@@SummerWinterMomI am solo traveling in a few months with my boy who will be 13 months old. We are bringing his Rava. Just curious if you think there is enough space to pull the car seat forward slightly in order to increase the recline while forward facing?
This was the video I was searching for as I will be making the trek to Germany this August for work and I'll be able to bring my baby who will be 18 months by then and my partner. You daughters did amazing in their car seats. I just don't know if my lil boy would be able to sit there as long but it might be worth a shot. Thank you for leaving the product info as well. Also, I was certain you had booked them a seat since you had their car seats. How did you go about securing a spot for them other than being on your lap? Anyway, thanks again for a great and helpful video!
Hey! Thanks for watching - I’m so glad you found this helpful! Regarding booking a seat, vs. not booking one, we chanced it and got lucky the whole way there. When we got to the check in desk we asked if there were any extra seats and they were able to locate us next to open spots! The only thing they require is seeing that there is proof that the car seats are FAA approved and then you can bring the carseat. With long haul fights, we find there are usually lots of seats open but then again there’s no guarantee. It all depends on how you feel about it along with costs 😌 Regardless I recommend bringing a car seat cover bag in case you need to gate check it. Hope this helps & hope you have a great trip!!
Hi! Great question - no we did not pay for extra seats for them. Since they were not 2 yet, they flew for free and we stayed hopeful that we would get seats for them. We were lucky flying out there, however coming back we were not so lucky... check out our flight video back to see how it went: ua-cam.com/video/lML4xf4w-rg/v-deo.html
Hi! We booked a flight with our 19 month old. We did not purchase her own seat. I bought the same britax travel cart you have. You mentioned you guys did not also buy them seats, if there are no seats available are we supposed to check in the travel cart and car seat? I am really confused of I should just buy a stroller for her. Would really need some advice. Thank you in advance for your response!
Hi! Great questions! If it’s fully booked, you can usually still bring it to the gate and gate check everything at the plane. You can actually check the car seat there and then bring the travel cart on the plan and store it in the overhead bin. I hope this helps! Oh - and just in case they ask you to check it, I’d recommend bringing a car seat cover bag so the car seat doesn’t get dirty if it has to be checked. Hope you have a great trip!
This gives me hope that we can travel with our toddler! We have the exact car seat. Thank you for showing the uninstallation briefly. Did you weave it over the true tension doors? As in, not under, like you would in the car. I was reading the user guide and it was over the doors. So you just follow the belt path, put it through, tighten and then click it?
When did you know you would be able to use the car seats? Did you ask at the ticket counter? At the gate? Thank you for the great video. It really helps me to visualize what it will be like before we actually leave for our trip.
We got our official confirmation at the check-in desk. As long as they have open seats and you can show proof that your car seat is FAA approved then you shouldn’t have any issues, (but if you paid for seat for your little one that’s the only real way to know for sure they’ll have a seat open for them.) We had one other experience where the person was in a bad mood and just didn’t want to give us a spot for our kids even though there were tons of open seats around us. It was an 11 hour flight 😞 but we made it 🤪 here’s that video if you’re curious: ua-cam.com/video/lML4xf4w-rg/v-deo.html Hope this helps! Happy travels!
Yes! It was a perfect fit! Thanks hey worked great in Germany - every car is different but the ones we rode in both had the lower anchor installation latch. Only one of the two cars we rode in had locking seat belts (so that installation method is less likely to be used in Europe because their cars don’t come standard with locking seatbelts) but the latch seemed to be always available for us so we were glad to have that.
We love to travel all over! Frankfort, Munich, Berlin, we also spent some time at the Baltic, and before kids when I was pregnant with my twins I backpacked for 3 weeks along the southern regions and got to visit the beautiful Neuschwanstein Castle (so cool!) 😍
Thx so much for your video. I’m planning a long haul trip in October when my LO will be 13 months. We are currently using Nuna Pipa lite lx but it requires base to be installed and I don’t wanna bring that heavy base with me on board since we have to transfer once before getting on the international flight. So now I’m contemplating to buy Rava. My LO is 10 months now. My questions are: when did you start using Rava for your girls and would you recommend for 10 mo who’s 21 lbs. I see that Rava worked perfectly for international flight, but do you have any experience installing it on US domestic flight, and if so, was there any trouble?
Hi! Sorry I’m just seeing this a tad late. I hope you had a great trip! What did you decide? To answer your questions though, I’d say the Rava would be fine but if it were me, I’d skip the car seat in flight and would have little one in a carrier or bassinet. But the Rava is great too. Hope everything went great!
Going to Saudi Arabia with my 1year old super nervous because it will be my first flight not to mention with a toddler all the way from South Africa which is basically flying a whole day
For this trip we didn’t buy the extra seats but went just hoping there would be a couple extra available and they were friendly and allowed us to use extra seats 💺☺️
I’m going to travel with my 2nd child and he’s 2yrs old and 7month. We are going to Pensacola Florida and I hope the plane will let’s me bring the car seat on the plane for him. It’s been a while to travel on the plane with toddler.
That’s exciting! I hope all your travels went smoothly! It’s always helpful to call the airline ahead of time if there’s ever a question about if they allow car seats, etc.
Not sure if I missed this info but what car seat did you use in Lufthansa? I just got this info that they dont accept all kind of car seats. Is that true?
Hi! As long as your car seat has proof of being FAA approved then you shouldn’t have any issues. We used Nuna Rava car seats. It was only denied one time and that was a time we hadn’t purchased separate infant seats and the person at the check in counter was in a bad mood… but most the time we were lucky and got to use them without purchasing the extra seats. But that can always happen if seats aren’t purchased
hi . just want to know is it require the car seat? i have 20 mos old baby. were planning tongo home in the phil. we are from milan. long travel. its my first time. i just want to know. tha nks😘😘😘
Hi! It’s not required to bring an infant car seat on any airplane but just encouraged for safety. I will say we’ve flown multiple times without it and it was definitely easier flying with it. I hope this helps and I hope you have a great trip!
Yeah haha they were really entertained just watching everything and rolling through the airport but we did take them out to get new diapers before boarding. Otherwise they got out their jitters a little once we boarded, but it was a fast transition getting to the airport to boarding so there wasn’t a lot of extra time to run around.
It’s not easy but could be doable. I flew alone with my twins when they were about 18 months old. Luckily the flight was only 2 hours - here is a link (I hope this helps!) - flying alone part 1: ua-cam.com/video/MKeA8CN02FE/v-deo.html - flying alone part 2: ua-cam.com/video/FOC7Sp5dBdg/v-deo.html
I am just incredibly impressed by your twins! Love your car seats and convenient wheels to wheel them around the airport.😇🥰 Mine are 1,5 year old and there is no way they would be comfortable about sitting in the car seat for 10 hours even with few breaks. Merry Christmas! And have fun in Germany.😌 Do they speak English and/or German?
Aw thank you so much!!! We’ve traveled a lot with them so they’re pretty comfortable flying but I was also impressed by how calm they were in their seats - it helped that the flight was overnight so they slept more than if it were during the day. They are learning to speak both languages - still learning to talk at this point but getting new words everyday 🥰 Thanks for watching & merry Christmas!
That’s a good question; I think that it likely has to be forward facing due to spacing and set up requirements but I’d still recommend checking what the specific car seat instructions are and would also ask if the airline also allows it / has enough space in the seats. Hope this helps!

#twinmom how exciting flying to Germany
Yes! Thanks for watching!
Hello did you pay An airplane ticket for both children since they are taking a seat ??
Yes you are correct! Just follow the instructions ☺️ you’ve got this! Happy travels! Hope everything goes great!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello! Thanks for watching!
It was an 11 hour flight 😞 but we made it 🤪 here’s that video if you’re curious: ua-cam.com/video/lML4xf4w-rg/v-deo.html
Hope this helps! Happy travels!
Wow you are super mom!!
Awwww thank you!!! Doing my best!
I’m so glad to see the Nuna Rava fits in the Lufthansa seats! How were the car seats for travel around Germany?
You have beautiful world traveling girls, so sweet.
Aw thank you so much!!
Cool! Where have you been in Germany?

My questions are:
when did you start using Rava for your girls and would you recommend for 10 mo who’s 21 lbs.
Going to Saudi Arabia with my 1year old super nervous because it will be my first flight not to mention with a toddler all the way from South Africa which is basically flying a whole day
You’ve got this!
😘😘🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍
☺️
Did you have to buy extra ticket/seat to be able to bring the car seats
They literally stayed in their car seats the entire time even at the airport? Dang, I can’t even sit for that long. How did you get their energy out?
Yeah haha they were really entertained just watching everything and rolling through the airport but we did take them out to get new diapers before boarding. Otherwise they got out their jitters a little once we boarded, but it was a fast transition getting to the airport to boarding so there wasn’t a lot of extra time to run around.
Did you use the car seat base?
Yes - these car seats are attached to the base (Nuna Rava)
Did you buy eat fir the babies?
Hi, I do not understand the question. Could you rephrase?
I want to travel with 2yrs old and 1yrs old alone as a mom is that doable? I’m so scared
It’s not easy but could be doable. I flew alone with my twins when they were about 18 months old. Luckily the flight was only 2 hours - here is a link (I hope this helps!)

I am just incredibly impressed by your twins! Love your car seats and convenient wheels to wheel them around the airport.😇🥰
Mine are 1,5 year old and there is no way they would be comfortable about sitting in the car seat for 10 hours even with few breaks.
Merry Christmas! And have fun in Germany.😌
Do they speak English and/or German?
Aw thank you so much!!! We’ve traveled a lot with them so they’re pretty comfortable flying but I was also impressed by how calm they were in their seats - it helped that the flight was overnight so they slept more than if it were during the day. They are learning to speak both languages - still learning to talk at this point but getting new words everyday 🥰 Thanks for watching & merry Christmas!
can you rearface a car seat on the plane for a child over 1
That’s a good question; I think that it likely has to be forward facing due to spacing and set up requirements but I’d still recommend checking what the specific car seat instructions are and would also ask if the airline also allows it / has enough space in the seats. Hope this helps!
@@SummerWinterMom thank you!
