What does FLYING with a 2-Year-Old Look Like? *vlog* + BEST TIPS

  • Here's my first ever real vlog!?! I hope you enjoy it and that it's helpful. I want parents to know that traveling with a toddler or a baby can definitely be tough --
    But for me, the toughest part is in my head. The stress, the worry, and the anxiety that come BEFORE I ever even get to the airport is usually the worst part! Once I'm "doing the day" everything usually unfolds just fine, with some hiccups here and there of course -- but nothing I can't deal with (especially if my husband is there to help!).
    My best advice for traveling with a toddler or a baby: PREPARE!! PREPARE. PREPARE in the days before you fly. And then try your best to relax on the day of and deal with whatever happens as it happens. You can do your best but it's simply not possible to plan for every scenario.

    Hi Brittany and the Wayfaring family!
    My 20m old and I will be flying to Montreal from Tokyo to visit my parents in a week. It’s his first time on an aircraft and my first time visiting the West in five years 😂 I just wanted to say your videos have been CRUCIAL for our prep, (and my mental health lol). Thank you for making these videos and I hope your adventure to Indonesia will be amazing and as smooth as this flight was for you and your family! Love from JP🇯🇵❤️

    Question: when you’re traveling with your partner and your toddler, are you more or less stressed?
    I find when I’m traveling solo with my toddler, I find myself less stressed. When my husband is with us, I feel like the load should be shared equally and it always ends up being 95% me and 5% him.

    • @wayfaringhumans
      @wayfaringhumans  7 місяців тому +2

      Ahhh this is very interesting. I do actually feel less stressed with my partner because I do feel like I get a lot of help with him there. But it’s never equal (especially when I was breastfeeding). I know what you’re saying and how it could potentially be less stress-inducing alone (strangely).

    Can I ask what that pram was? It looks like a detachable toddler car seat on a pram frame. Does that exist? Please say it is so.

    • @wayfaringhumans
      @wayfaringhumans  7 місяців тому

      Man, I wish I could tell you that's what it is! We've just always shoved our car seat into it like this when we need to lug it up to the check-in counter!

    I thought kids under 6 need to be in a car seat? Is that true or airline dependent? I’d rather check-in my car seat if I don’t need to bring it

    Hi..i am travelling with my toddler 19 months next month and have reserved the bassinet seat even though he wont fit into it but considering the space we will get. Do you suggest bassinet seat?

    • @wayfaringhumans
      @wayfaringhumans  Рік тому

      Hi! It really depends on your personal preferences. I liked it more when my son was little but now that he’s a toddler, I don’t like the bulkhead row unless I know that I can put the arm rests up. If that’s something you think will be important to you, maybe another row would work better.

    • @radhikabarma4042
      @radhikabarma4042 Рік тому

      @@wayfaringhumans thanks for your reply! Yes i am only concerned because arm rests wont go up. I have thought to use the space ahead to make him sleep as he will be travelling on my lap.

    • @wayfaringhumans
      @wayfaringhumans  Рік тому

      Yes, that’s an option as well. If you can make a makeshift bed on the floor in front of you with some blankets and jackets, it could work!

      If you're nursing do so during take off but wait until you're literally leaving the ground. If they aren't nursing using a sippy cup with straw works the same. If they're old enough for a lollypop you can do that too. Anything that gets them sucking during take off and landing. Good luck!

    OK, just making sure, it was fine for him to travel on the plane with no car seat? I have a two year old who is very tall for his age. I think he would be fine sitting in the seat as is, but I don't want to be unsafe or breaking some sort of rule.

    • @wayfaringhumans
      @wayfaringhumans  7 місяців тому

      Yeah for sure! Car seats aren’t required on any airlines (that I’ve ever heard of). They’re the safest way and some parents also prefer them because their kids are used to them, so it’s kind of a “safe space” in an unfamiliar environment (it also ensures your kid is ‘contained’ 😂). But I’ve personally never used a car seat on the plane and we’ve taken 50 ish flights with our son.

  • @ASITL

    did the airline not make it compulsory to use the car seat on the flight?
