    you can put the car in "brake service mode" instead of using the battery method. but both works. :)

      how to put the car in brake service mode?

    • @pbear216

      Chock front wheel(s). Turn on the ignition by either pressing the start button twice without pressing the brake or turning the key to on position. Then press brake pedal and disengage parking brake. Pull parking brake button 3 times and then push parking brake button twice (holding brake pedal down), release brake pedal and push and hold parking brake button until you hear the parking brake winding out. Keep holding parking brake button down until motor stops. Shut of ignition and you are all set to service brakes.

    i was gonna say just put it in the service mode, but i tried putting it in service mode with the caliper off 😂 don't do that btw 😂 also don't try to press the brakes after the piston is about popped out 😂ended up needing a power supply to manually compress the piston, and i have no idea how the piston went back in 😂 got to bleed some brakes, and also got a service code doing it this way, plug in my icarsoft scanner to reset the EPB, and i get "failed connection" 😂

    Next time you are near your brakes; clean your hub and disc mounting surfaces, lubricate the sliding pins and clean the brake pads hardware. You will be able to keep the caliper for much longer!

    I noticed something on your car many of us gen5 owners don't have. Couple of questions lol
    Under your hood I see you have insulation. Did your car come with it ?
    Where did you get it ? Link plz
    Have you noticed a difference in engine noise?
    Did you install it using the recommended glass hammer ?

    • @TheEtixzShow
      @TheEtixzShow  5 місяців тому

      Yes, the insulation came with car.
      Yes, i have noticed in engine noise, it runs way smoother.
      Yes

      Depends on year and trim level. My 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium does not have hood insulation but my 2021 Prime SE does. It makes a significant difference in cabin noise

    • @TheEtixzShow
      @TheEtixzShow  Рік тому +1

      Its easy. 2 long wires and a battery.

    • @rickiebriana2546
      @rickiebriana2546 Рік тому +4

      @@BabyBirdFOHYes there is a much easier option. You can put the rav4 in service mode. All you have to do is pull the ebrake button 3 times then push down 3 times push down one more time and hold it for 30 seconds, the motor will completely retract. There are some videos on UA-cam just look for them.

    Used OBD2 with ABS Service or Service mode by Toyota will easily replaced the break pad.

    For those of you who do use this video, always change rotors when doing new pads. Also, it is very important to check slide pins for proper movement and re-grease or replace as necessary. Any contact points between caliper and pads need high temp grease as well. Again though, I highly recommend you not use this video at all because it is mostly wrong and very incomplete!

    • @bryans2790
      @bryans2790 2 місяці тому

      If your rotors still look good and above the min thickness, then you are just throwing away good rotors. I change my rotors on every second brake pad change.

    • @pbear216
      @pbear216 2 місяці тому

      @bryans2790 resurfacing would still be required for proper pad contact with the rotors but most modern car rotors are not designed for resurfacing. You can do as you please but it is not a great idea.
