Cameron if you think this punk rock I’m extremely worried, this is shitty pop punk. Don’t try and tell me that I ruin these festivals when I go practically every year and I didn’t go this year as there wasn’t enough rock bands? Fucking idiot
Gotta respect these guys. Out of all the punk bands from the 2000s, Sum 41 are the only ones who have kept themselves musically relevant -with their dignity intact. Where the rest of those bands became more pop-influenced, Sum 41 just became progressively heavier as they went on. The inspiration from Metallica & Iron Maiden was always there, but it became much more clear after their first album and onward 👌
@@dannygriffiths9021 yeah so dissapointed to ATL but the fans are royal to ATL their like the new stuff with electronicish. No heavy guitar or drums more
I count In Too Deep as a summer song. It fits perfectly well to play it on a hot summer day with clear blue skies if you go back watching their music video. All you need is a pool and some drinks and just welcome summer with that song
What?? This performance was crazy awesome, they sounded super fucking good! If I heard this song without watching the video or reading the title of the show (and just listened to the performance) you could've had me fooled if you told me this was straight from 2001!
A bad decision to leave but I guess he needed to find himself, work on his two other bands Brown Brigade and The Organ Thieves and the finale was a divorce. This would make anyone look at themselves and then hit the gym and start looking to get more chicks again! But the water solo sticks in everyone's mind. I miss the original drummer, he was full of jokes and stuff. He was even on Cribs (Parents Home) now he is selling homes as realtor in Sunny Palm Springs! www.paulkaplanrealtor.com/steve-jocz.php
Err - Papa Roach, Creeper, The Fever 333, The Used, La Dispute, Trophy Eyes, Underoath, The Xcerts, Skindred, Trash Boat, Blood Youth, Black Peaks, Beartooth, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Billy Talent, Don Broco, Hollywood Undead, Milk Teeth, Black Foxxes, The Bronx, Stray From The Path, and also Frank Carter & BMTH ("Secret Sets")....thats to name a few? I know Reading/Leeds is an easy festival to attack but when you actually look at the line up they still include alot of heavier bands over the weekend
They died out. Just like the good old times when those genres were considered mainstream. But times change and now Hip Hop and RnB are mainstream. I guess we all have to deal with that fact.
John Smith they were pretty good but it's not fair comparing because they're completely different styles of music. They were a bit tame compared to Sum 41 to me
@@adoresleep2541 that doesn't make any sense at all lmfao. The Foo Fighters are another prime example of a band that aged well. Heck even Green Day has kept their game up better than Blink.
I heard this song for the first time when I was like 5 or 6. I’m 23 now and it’s just as good as it was back then. Sum 41 are one of the few bands from my childhood that are just as awesome as they were in their heyday
To be Honest...I think this is the best they have sounded in years. Also...The guy that mixed this did a way better job than most of these kind of live stuff on youtube
Jordi Danen yep they're sounding really good now. Being a 5 piece now and the beast of a new drummer has tightened them up and made them sound bigger live
Phenomenal Live. Was great to see this in person. Especially when Frank threw his sticks into the crowd and hit one of the security guys at the front in the head. Brilliant.
Solos aren't lame. Only badly written, or badly placed. Many songs don't need it and this song, keeps it short, basic, and fits in nicely. A number of songs have have a fair bit of guitar wanking for 2 minutes, and don't sound nearly as good as this, because the context of the song makes it that much better. :D
Are there more videos of their performance? They're probably going to be one of the best of the whole weekend with this shit line up. They always bring energy and feels to any crowd
you guys are really lucky to live in Europe, there are many amazing band and amazing concert, I'm in Indonesia and its very rarely to see a great concert like this
Props to the sound guy. Sounds phenomenal
Studio Quality man.. fucking awesome.
Vocals too quiet
They sound great as a band, but the mixing is terrible, glad Sum41 is back.
The mix on this is brilliant, it sounds huge
I have no idea what speakers you people are listening to this on but it sounds dreadful
Probs to Deryck, the guy looks so much better than he did a few years ago
George Sherwood he went through alot man... He was almost dead... But he fought through
Props*
Yeah huge probs
R A T C H E T hahahaha you’re hilarious mate
Honestly, all male celebrities have to do to look healthy is not go bald.
Shout out to Deryck for overcoming his battles and looking and sounding better than ever!
THIS is what Reading festival is all about
OhThatsSoJames Too true brother James. Too true.
Ew no it's not, I agree indie and alternative rock should be the main. But bands like this are just wank😂😂
Oliver Allen you're wrong. Punk rock bands that stayed true to their style and not gone too mainstream are not wank unlike ahem Fall Out Boy
Oliver Allen Reading and Leeds used to be mainly punk/ rock/ alternative it's people like you that ruined it

so true. while you can't even hear the guitar on newer fall out boy and all time low stuff sum 41 make songs with 90 seconds guitar solos.
all time low really
Tbh Blinks most recent stuff is pretty good though,Matt just gets hated on , and All time low are awful lmao

It's the main song I link to the American Pie films. I'll always love the song
FRIGHTENINGLY close to 20 years ago, this came out. This performance was tight af tho
Sound engineer was spot on for a change too
Malcom in the Middle days. Ah, simpler times...
I miss those days
I remember when this song played when Reese stole that car, a truly iconic time
Sad day when I saw Malcolm in the Middle taken off Netflix :(
Reese drives!
kevin evangelista The series is on Hulu! Did some digging

disliked, Dave didn't come out of the water during the solo
He also didn't have a shirt off, dive 50 feet into the water, THEN appear with a shirt and guitar.
Dave got swoll af, remember how scrawny he was for the in too deep music video?
A bad decision to leave but I guess he needed to find himself, work on his two other bands Brown Brigade and The Organ Thieves and the finale was a divorce. He looks like Alistair Overeem
JAJSJSJSJS
So much nostalgia
I’m glad I was born in 1989 and was around for peak of of all the bands during the era of this song.
I was born in 1994 though
You can tell how often they have played this song. All stay in time perfectly.
Or the fact that they play to a click track live...
I feel like this is a Sum 41 video that people will keep coming back to for years to come.
PixelPerson almost like a return performance even though they've been back for a couple of years. Or hopefully it will be watched by new fans
BBC delete the reading videos after a few weeks they did last year....
Jackman1st What about green day at reading in 2013..?
correct💪
That’s one of the greatest stage setups I’ve ever seen
thederekjohnson he's called Bonesy
2:29 is so satisfying to know that 17 years on enough people still knew the lyrics to the song.
This band is better than ever now
They are awesome and I love their new album but I just miss Steveo:(
This is what bands on the main of Reading should be like. Where are all the alternative/punk/metal/emo bands that made Reading the festival it is now?
Figure It Out what makes it worse is that I hear the cash me outside girl or “bhad bhabie” is supposed to perform there. Fucking kill me.
its changed beyond all recognition now. mumble rap gets main stage slots.. its sort if just a place for 15 year olds to take selfies now.

They died out. Just like the good old times when those genres were considered mainstream. But times change and now Hip Hop and RnB are mainstream. I guess we all have to deal with that fact.
This dude never grows old lmao he looks the damn like he did 17 years ago
Brown Sound is looking jacked
That is exactly what I was thinking hahaha
Kind of like, it'd be nice to be held by him... y'know..
He is wearing his Iron maiden shirt, like in the music video
A snack
So pleased to see deryck doing so much better than he was a few years ago!!
Great to see sum41 back !!!! What a tune!!!
They still got it!
For me the best sounding recording of in too deep live was always Reading 2002, but this is actually better! ...and I was there :)
they are still the same!and its fucking awesome!)
Completely agree. Both this and 2002 are my all time favourite SUM41 live performances.
Sum 41 was by far the best at Reading.
John Smith they were pretty good but it's not fair comparing because they're completely different styles of music. They were a bit tame compared to Sum 41 to me
John Smith sum 41 shat over teeners
Papa Roach in the pit were insane too
It's crazy how Sum 41 seem to age like fine wine while Blink 182 seem to age like a pineapple.
They look crazy performing this at their age lol
so true... Blink is dead since 2004
you can blame Skiba for that.
Think sum are 10-12 years younger than the guys from blink tbf
@@adoresleep2541 that doesn't make any sense at all lmfao. The Foo Fighters are another prime example of a band that aged well. Heck even Green Day has kept their game up better than Blink.
Thanks BBC ..
It was such a good show. I got a crappy place right at the back but even there the sound was phenomenal.
One of, if not the Best band at the festival this year

Edward de Winton ah fairs man, I missed them for kings of Leon. Was probably the worst choice of the entire weekend tbh 😂
TheFringedMusician yeh they were great me and my mates saw the last bit of kings of Leon
Deryck looks GREAT!! 13 Voices was the story of his Rise!
I heard this song for the first time when I was like 5 or 6. I’m 23 now and it’s just as good as it was back then.

I was there and it was actually amazing :)
This is great!
The guitar tone is amazing!
Deryck is looking so much better/healthier these days.
The best band in this festival men
amazing live performance guys..
Great song, great LIVE !
Middle school was the best years of my life.
his voice is definitely getting better
I missed these guys
Great performance! Wish it wasn’t so rare to see a band actually play their music and not use a backing track :)
Dave preforming his iconic solo was the best part 🤩
I didn't think anybody announced guitar solo's anymore
It's not fat, dude. It's power. haha yeah because no one does them anymore
Conceptually, solos are just fucking lame. But there's always gonna be that part of me that's like YEEAAAAAAAAAAAA
R A T C H E T you're lame nerd. they're cool af
no u

Yo that’s funky
He sounds so much better than he did years ago.
Rhys M. Because he's not pissed up anymore and sober now lol
Classic. I'm learning the song right now.
Cone’s bass tone is badass!!! \m/
England is famously known around the world for having some of the best sounding engineers and staging music techs. :D!

Gosh its been so long since american, one of my fav teenagae movies
Performed there in August 2002, and then again in 2018.

Yep! And in that Malcolm in the Middle episode where Reese learns to drive.
And American Pie 2. Ahh, the early 2000's were a special time.
Paul Citti Ah man, can't believe I completely forgot about American Pie 2! That's a good scene too!

Does he?
Wow these guys managed to bring the 2000 vibes to 2018 without living in the past.
