- Detroit police moved to fire an officer who was hit with 85 complaints, and accused of harassing and threatening Black residents for years. Instead, he was promoted to sergeant. 7 Investigator Ross Jones looks into his record, and speaks with people about their encounters with him.
Blame his superiors for allowing this to go on for so long.
Maybe we need to look at the service records of his superior's and then FIRE THEM ALONG WITH KUE.

This is why body cameras should be mandatory. If an officer turns it off at any time during their shift, they should be found automatically guilty. Accountability 🤷🏽♀️
pretty much all major city police departments are required to have them and i believe detroit should definitely have them given the history of corruption that has plagued the detroit pd for decades, this officer is why body cameras are a must when comparing both sides of the story and especially if the person has footage from a recording device, record police even if its a traffic stop, it always starts with a routine traffic stop such as "your license plate light bulb is out" or better yet "you didn't use your turn signal properly" or "your taillight/headlight are out"
They do WHATEVER to protect each other. They’ll find some kind of way to allow him to leave with a pension intact or maybe even let him go with severance

Sorry, happens way too often…even with the officer that murdered George Floyd. There should be a consequence for not recording encounters with civilians while on duty.
Zero tolerance should be exercised and enforced.

@@detroitsurvivor4989 it's really not when you look at the numbers and see how disproportionate police departments are funded. It's only increased, most arrests are nonviolent and minorities are disproportionately affected. The reasons are legitimate
@@jowens197 minority are also more affected by crime so for them to have more contact makes perfect sense. The reasons are not valid. I used to work for a company that attempted to train police but they never had funding. A few counties and cities have tons of funding, like NY or anywhere in Northern VA but for the most part police departments around the US are underfunded. What needs to happen is better vetting, higher standards for hiring and naturally more pay to attract better candidates. O, and the y need to stop this politicizing this fake "cops hate blacks" so we can get to figuring out real solution. I looked at become a Detroit cop at one point and they were starting at around 20k a year. That is a problem
@@detroitsurvivor4989 I don't know about smaller cities, but big cities have an insane amount of funding, and funding increased during the war on drugs, which was shown to be ineffective. Funding things that are actually preventative like education and healthcare are necessary, which is why people say to defund. Yes police salary is low, but it's not because of lack of funding. I suppose it's all a matter of perspective

This is why you have to record every single police encounter. Just like the cop doesnt know if hes dealing with a bad citizen or a good citizen, you never know if youre dealing with a good cop or a bad cop.

While I agree they should absolutely get rid of him, I disagree with your second statement. Segregation only breeds more intolerance. Having each neighborhood policed by their own would be detrimental. What happens when you leave that neighborhood ? Do you look over your shoulder in fear constantly? The justice system and other systems need a complete overhaul in terms of training and policy to focus on protect and serve instead of subjugate and demean.
