I don't have any comic book history but I welcome any comic book-centric videos! There's so many, it often feels too overwhelming to start. Would love any recs and guidelines.

I don’t tend to read comics but I also prefer DC to Marvel. The last graphic novel I read was The Crow, bought it because I’m a huge fan of the 1994 film and the film’s soundtrack.

I'm in my vampire renaissance (which isn't hard to be because of all the amazing vampiere literature coming out these days!) and now you've got me all psyched to reread Interview (and all the other Vampire Chronicles books) and Carmilla! Also very very psyched about your vampy foreshadowing 👀🧛

Ooo, I’m so happy to see Anne Rice here. She’s my favorite novelist. Please read her book Cry to Heaven if you haven’t already. It’s not one of her supernatural books. It’s basically about 18th century Italian castrati in the opera world (altho the story is far more complex than just that). I miss Anne. Her attitude towards sexuality and gender identity was beautiful. She said many times she didn’t consider herself male or female and that she had a bisexual mind (even tho she’d only ever physically been with one man). And she said trans people were magical and humanity had so much to learn from the trans experience. We need more people like her. Her book The Witching Hour is absolutely stunning as well.

I love comics but I definitely understand why you don't talk about them. It seems in order to do that it has to be on a channel meant for comics. Crossover on booktube is tricky, especially with superhero comics.

Interview With A Vampire is definitely a great book. I have only been to New Orleans once and visited Anne’s grave site. I have been to so many of her book signings including her last one with her son in Palm Springs. Happy that another Interview With a Vampire fan has found Willow. 😊

I love The Interview with the Vampire movie. It was the first vampire movie I'd ever seen as a young teen and it absolutely blew me away. I definitely want to read the book one day. Have you seen the TV show adaptation that was released relatively recently? It's on my list of things to watch. I can't wait to read Private Rites. I'm on the waiting list at my library for it. I loved Our Wives Under the Sea. And I definitely want to read Service Model. I'm on the waiting list for that one too. Sounds like you had a brilliant reading month! ☺

Hi Willow, I almost hesitate to mention more books when you've got such a stack, but this sounded too good not to share info right away. I was watching a "mid-year freakout tag" video by Lindy Magpie Reads, and five minutes in discovered an author I think you'll love, John Elizabeth Stanzi. Watch Lindy's comments on the upcoming short story collection (Bad Houses). There is also a book of poetry I'm definitely going to check out, Junebat. Or maybe you already know about this (Canadian, nonbinary) author? 😀

I've read Interview with a Vampire not too long ago and was surprised to find out how many of the modern vampire tropes are stemming from this book.
The only beef I have with this book is it's formatting - every edition of this book I ever looked is the same: page after page of block of text, without even as much as a paragraph to break it out, not to mention pretty much absense of chapters. This made for a very tiring experience, despite fascinating and captivating contents, even for my friends with non-neurodivergent brains.

if you enjoyed Zdarksy's Batman run (which tbf I haven't read but it's in the basket after hearing the review here!), then you should definitely check out his Daredevil run he recently wrapped up! it's a crazy journey about catholic guilt, the all trapping power of capitalism and politics, as well as what brings someone to extremism! so good! plus Elektra in this series is so good. the series is super standalone too, as long as you have a rough knowledge of daredevil (a friend who onky watched the show picked it up and wasn't left confused by any random lore assumptions)

@@wifeundertheseait definitely follows the events of the book for the most part, the framing device for why the interview is even happening is a bit different tho as well as multiple changes to character which, in my opinion, only gives them more depth! I watched the show first so I might be biased when I say you can watch it first but I highly recommend reading the book anyway, even if it's after. It's gorgeously written anyway and gives you more insight into the world and it's interesting to see what changes were made.
