Bloom made me so anxious. At no point did I see it as a "sweet sapphic romance." In my opinion there's a sense of dread the entire time. It's so good though and I liked it a lot. I'm glad your videos reminded me of how much I wanted to read that book.

Bloom sounds good. Shame about Terry. He is my book guru and I have all of his books in a special bookcase. Read them as they came out. So agree about Lady Macbeth. She is the real power in the play.

The Cautious Traveller's Guide to the Wastelands is one of my favorite books of the year! I read it from the library so I'll be purchasing a copy for my collection - and the UK cover since it's way better than the US one imo.

I made a tbr once, tried to stick to it but I grew increasingly anxious and read like 0 books from that list. Never tried again 😂

The Tale of Genji has massively slowed down my reading progress in September… like running into quicksand🤔🤨

2 months that is awesome. It’s easier when all the books are good.

It is amazing to me you could do this 2 months in a row! I can rarely hit half my planned TBR never mind all of it!

Put Heads Will Roll on hold at the library based on your recommendation, not expecting to get it until November at the earliest. It just came in for me, just in time for spooky reading for October. So excited to read it!

Also I want to share in your frustrarion of "Feminist retellings" that aren't really that feminist at all. I haven't read Lady Macbeth but last year I read The Witch's Heart and it's still under my skin...I don’t know how it's been called feminist when the main character spends most of her time hiding away in her home doing chores and/or taking care of her children, waiting for her no good husband to come home, constantly letting said husband say demeaning things to her and be generally aewul while immediately forging him when he kisses her or whatever, and ending the story with her pairing up with her girl best friend (which I have no problem with in concept of course but there was NO foreshadowing or buildup of romantic chemistry between them at all when there were plenty of opportunities to do so) and yet STILL cares more about her shitty ex-husband while completley forgiving his destuctive role by claiming he actually didnt have any agency and he's just like that uwu. Like I don't care that he's Loki this whole book completley gives the apparently most powerful witch in the realms no agency or anything interesting to do, auuuugh. TLDR; I Get It.

Ooo - Ten Low is one that I’ve not heard of before. Instantly adding to my TBR!
