Awesome video. So amazing the generosity of the community. Anything from swag, inexpensive knivess, rare knives, to just knowledge, people giving their time and energy to each other. Outstanding stuff. Grateful for all of the folks who make it happen.
Your absolutely right. This knife community is awesome. Very proud to be apart of it now. Also following all the guys you tagged. Hope mike is not feeling bad off that 2nd shot.
I love that you put a stone in there! I'm the same way with those translucent stones! Great knives and stories to go with them. It's great when something awesome has meaning with it.
Imma gun guy just bc my Great Uncle who fought in WWII taught me how unique the Bill of Rights was, and the stories, o the stories. But what makes me happy is a good blade. I love modern folders, old slips, fixed, doesn't matter. I have his dog tags from the war and his bokers he took of a German, tips snapped off and all. He was my favorite person in life.
That's absolutely amazing, I had precious things like that at one point, I have the memories now, it makes me smile hearing those things you cherish because I get it, and the memories and stories that come with them. 👊
Mine first would be my sebenza 21. It was a gift from my mom. It has a scale show side that Chris himself made (that part is a long story). Oz machine Roosevelt because it was something I wanted for awhile then won a lottery spot. Got to pick all the customization that comes with that. My Asai Damascus gyuto because it was one of the last he forged before he passed and he is still in my opinion one of the greatest knife makers to ever live. Last two would be fixed blades from mastersmith Ed Caffrey. One is the bowie we made together because it reminds of my time training under him Montana. The second is a competition chopper he forged for me it’s in my shop and reminds of what excellence is and to always strive for it.
@@NeevesKnives happy to help if it’s fixed blades. You send me a design I can make it. I did just get a mill and I’m gonna start messing around with more folders.
The things that makes us so happy in this world aren't necessarily the things themselves but the memories attached to them. Knives as a tool can make us happy in the use of them being perfect for a certain job or a sense of accomplishment, but the emotional attachment is always the biggest factor I find. Definately a Great selection of knives and other things related to happiness. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
Great picks for your top 5! (or 6 or 7 or 8. 😂) My knives that make me happy are all for sentimental reasons also. I have my dad's knife that he actually had on him when he was killed and the other's were sent from some very incredible people in this amazing community. We are so lucky to be a part of a community that is filled with the absolute best people. Great video once again Jerad!
I’ve been loving these Five knifes that make me happy videos. I love seeing all the different picks and the stories behind them. Also Spyderco needs to make the Bowie a standard model. Not just a sprint run exclusive.
oooooo i would love to see a video of all Mr. Amazing knives! also thank you for the insight into your knife story. I feel touched to understand the root of your knife hobby on a deeper level. And as always, thanks for the amazing content!!
Bro your channel is honestly in my top 3 favorite channels, and not just knife ones I mean all different channels. You are a real person who is just like all of us who watch the channel and that I can't say about a lot of the UA-cam channels out there. Not to mention that you show some seriously awesome knives that many of them are grails of mine! That Medford is so sweet man I never saw that scale option. WOW those scales are gorgeous!! Thanks for the stories too I can appreciate a story that goes along with the knife!
Yeah all my sentimental stuff from my childhood is gone as well..now, I’m the most sentimental person you’d ever meet lol. Idk how you lost the things that meant something to you, but I am the reason I don’t have anything that meant something to me..it’s crazy what happens and what is important to you when you change your life. Awesome vid man, cool to see the tag making it this far!
That Slim Midi is absoutely gorgeous!! Don't care what anyone says, that's art. Sexy badass art at that lol. All Medford's sculpted handles are pretty cool but the "Falling Leaf" pattern is one of my favorites. I especially like how it was finished, with the milled areas bronze-to-violet ano (which is ALSO my favorite Medford fade/color combo) with what looks like PVD surfacing? Only thing that would be cooler is the Vulcan finish blade but I dont think they offer that on the Slim Midi. Recieving *THAT* as a gift is insane, I would be beside myself.
@@NeevesKnives Where/how did your buddy get a Marauder w/ a Vulcan blade?? Thats not even an option on their website configurator, On the website the Vulcan finish is exclusively avail to 1 model only, the Praetorian Ti...
I hope that pink or red socom elite tanto you and Kara were given makes this list.. That video where you guys unboxed it is the video that got me to instantly sub and start following the channel!! Your guys’ clearly genuine reaction of extreme gratitude hit me right in the feels!!
Been meaning to ask you: After you’ve sharpened a knife and got it screaming sharp, what is your go-to stone and method was getting it sharp again after you’ve used it and dulled it a little?
Ceramic Rod and Strop, or some sorta honing stone, something very fine like a very high grit stone, Ceramic stone, Arkansas Stone something really hard and fine
@@NeevesKnives Thanks! Do you do alternating light passes or sharpen for a burr? I’m thinking alternating passes to realign the edge, but just making sure. I may use my Spyderco XF ceramic for that.
@@MrEric0822 he has a video from not to long ago showing how you can strop it back or actually sharpen on a rod and when to do it! If I find it I’ll come back and link it for ya.
I remember your trip to CO when you got that Buck and the Grip. Hell..I remeber ones from before that. I've been subbed for a long time I guess, but it's been a joy to see how far you've come, and what you've done with the channel brother. I'm truly happy for you. Great knives, great video, love the stories behind them too.
I thought they owned the mine but discontinued mining from it, or who ever owns it, I know that's where they come from but I heard mining was stopped and they have a ton of it still in factory I could be wrong
Hard times make strong men. Never forget that. I've gone from a very, very poor kid growing up, living in a car that most often wouldn't start. Grew up and had success in life. But when my son was born, I became rich. He's 14 now and dealing with more than a kid should ever have to. He was diagnosed with autism when he was 3. Now, everything is gone so he can go to a school that can help him. One day you wake up, your parent's are gone, and it's just you and your boy. I wouldn't change a single thing in my life if it didn't lead me to tomorrow with my son. So, stay strong and appreciate everything and everyone you have in your lives.
I have 3 of my five my battle black hinderers, then I’m left with idk’s they are all different and that’s why I choose each one. Then I choose my full flat reground Lanza bgm fixed blade, lastly I choose???? Let’s see um, I guess I choose my zt0095bw because it’s the first nice knife I purchased that started the itch.
