I'm relieved to find out that I'm not the only one who will walk the length of my house just to pull out a particular knife and hold it.
All the time
I get off the couch and walk upstairs just to flip some knives a couple times, then go back downstairs with a different one in my pocket. I probably do that 10 times a day lol
I used to have a small collection and would do this. After selling all of them I miss it, and as useful as a Leatherman is it's just not the same. Big difference between utility and sentimental or aesthetic value.
Yep
Excited to see you tag friends from the community, your awesome Pete thanks for all your awesome content 👍
Just what the community needs....to recover the sense and purpose of the hobby. Thanks Pete fantastic vid❗👌👍😊👏👏👏
"I'm going to go hold my 'Apocalypse' for a few minutes and just stare blankly at it." Uh huh, we all know what that means, Pete.
@Chandler Smith You beat me to it. See what I did there.
Thank you very much for the tag. This is a cool idea for a video. I'll get to work. 🏋️.
You showed some great choices too. That Kabar looks sick.
I bought one of those "Work Sharp sharpener thingamagiggies". I call it the poor man's (or Gal's) KME. It's perfect for the person who just needs to sharpen their EDC knife now and again, and to maintain it. Add a strop with green compound and you're good to go. I'll still use my DMT diamond bench stones for my kitchen knives.
My Buddy just got one. It’s a great system. I wish it had come out earlier so I didn’t have to shell out for a Wicked Edge
If you ever want to improve it try some lapping films. They are cheap on Amazon if you cut them to size yourself and you can get near mirror polished results.
I'm glad to read this, I have been wanting to get it. Good to hear positive things about it. Thanks
@@kylearmstrong6876 you're welcome. If you want to get fancy, Gritomatic makes an adapter for it that lets you use any 4" stone and there's a guy on EBay selling a lapping film holder for it as well.
Pete, I fully get the feeling of holding and using a large 'tactical' knife that will never get used for its intended purpose. My number 1 happiness knife is my TOPS Operator 7. I purchased it on and whim for no real reason but love it. It's a chunk of steel that can take anything. I get a weird feeling that it's laughing at me every time I try to push it to its limits - and that makes me smile too. Weird - yes but that's the nature of knife collecting.
I absolutly know what you mean. I even considered getting the blackout version too. Amazing knives that absolutly work as a crowbar also😂
I can’t just hold the knife and smile. I have to check that it is shaving sharp and then hold it and smile. I have run out of hair but not smiles. Thank you for another thoughtful and thought provoking video. Off to pick my 5.
the k390 police is tops for sure- your channel is one of the best keep up the great work
I didn’t get a police in k390 but I did get a PM2 in K390 and it’s awesome
Good video!!! This is the core of what the knife world should be about, getting that dopamine rush from something you really enjoy.
I get that feeling when I hold my Pink Spyderco Squeak. 😊
My paper thin 15v trapper from BBB Handmade is by far my #1. Bonkers. It never gets old.
This happens to me all the time, fixed blades, pocket knives, axes make me happy and smile
When I first got my 940 I thought how could knives get better than this
Exactly. I fell in love with the 940 because wranglerstar talked so highly of it. I still find myself going back and watching those videos with my 940 in my hand XD. even though it has only 1 functional Omega spring, I still love it so much.
I felt like this when I got my Cold Steel Trail Master, that’s one of my grail knives
@@longshanks5531 the trail master is one of my dream knives. I love the shape and width of it (gigity). It looks like something I could rely on for everything. I could kill a bear with that thing AND skin it AND process firewood with it AND cook with it.
Great video. It's exactly what I needed today 🙏😀💯 Thanks for a reminder that this or any other hobby should be about the happiness it provides.
Honest too goodness personal opinions of knives is what I look for, not the endless "knife reviews" that so many channels pore out in the quest for "$$$$" be nice to see what others personal choices are? The knife #1 that always makes me happy is my first Sebenza, don't carry it much now, but very much appreciate her :)
You're going surfin' on the Internet was cyber as hell.
My observations, You speak from your heart, and your integrity is God like, thanks for allowing me to be enjoy your reviews,
Great stuff :) That Creely Mako really is an absolute beauty. The handle of the Ka-bar reminds me of the grips from my first BMX in the 80s haha.
Really appreciate all the new content Pete! 👌 keep em coming
Stoked for the vids coming up! So much to love here. Props for spreading enthusiasm about the hobby and reminding people why they fixate on sharp metal objects haha
Jimmy slice I enjoy his content, he seems so happy each time he whips out a cold steel.
Lovely title. My five happy go-to-knives, because they feel like...knives and I love using them: Helle Temagami, Brisa Trooper (used to be the Brisa/Enzo Camper for me, but now this one), LT Wright GNS (first made by Blind Horse Knives), Bark River Aurora LT, Casström Lars Fält Knife...
Shoulda called this 'knives that give me the fizz' in a nod to old wrangler star
Thanks for the video. It was good to see a few knives that just make you feel good. SMALL FIXED-BLADE EDC KNIVES DO NOT GET ENOUGH UA-cam LOVE!
A great reminder that having different hobbies and interests is good, and to do what makes you smile. Your videos are very entertaining, keep up the great work brother!
This is a great idea because you're the only one who knows what makes you happy and I don't think most ppl would debate something that makes someone happy
I just bought my woman a TRC South Pole in blue linen micarta / elmax . Just a beautiful blade
Pete, it made me so happy when you shouted out the police 4 in K390. Inexplicably it’s one of my favorite spydercos. Love how slicey it is and the blade length is so aggressively great!
wow...worth watching just for that last clip
NGL, I don't have five knives that aren't SAK (and I have five of those). But, when I'm camping, my versatile little Buck Bantam often calls out to be handled.
I know, I don't qualify as a hardcore knife fan, and I expect to be shunned by all and sundry, but I like Pete, and I like Gabe, and I do like Brickie!
Fantastic video - you are halfway around the world and opened my eyes to a knife maker Creely that’s 20 minutes from my house! Definitely picking one up! Thank you!
Nice work again Pete! Glad I’m not the only one who owns a few ‘staring knives!’
Happy to see you happy😁
I’m seeing you outside with a sweatshirt on and I can’t wait for that day to come back around. It’s so hot!!!!
Great choices. I like the style of blades you chose. They all see kind af silly and weird, but cool and fun. Good stuff man
Great selection. My Karen Hood chopper, and Cold Steel 4MAX make me smile. Cheers!
Pete being happy
makes me happy
happy happy joy joy.
Now I'm gonna crank up some Stinky Wizzleteats
I have well over 20 Bark River knives...but I only recently got a mini-aurora! I LOVE it, and it's definitely my current happy knife.
I think the only knife that makes me happy that I don't carry/use at least occasionally is my shuredge ka-bar that was my grandfather's during his stint as a seabee during WW2.
Honestly, the shape of a ka-bar is like that of a Coca-Cola glass bottle in that it's such an iconic design.
That little tiny bench made raised more questions, in my mind, than the worksharp ever did 🤣
That Mako is one of the nicest designs I've seen in a while. I only started using fixed blades as an EDC option recently, but if I keep enjoying it I think that will be my first really premium fixed blade.
I got my first Creely Mako Rex 121 earlier this year and it is a great knife. Great guy too.
Tough to pick 5. Looking forward to the KME vid!! Great choices Pete.
Never owned or even handled a Creely but it still makes me smile so it must be a fantastic knife.
Fantastic video sir keep them coming!!!!!!
I enjoy the home slice
Great vid Pete. Thanks for supporting your viewership. It's getting to be the season when your annual rankings of knife companies and steels come out. Maybe an annual review of sharpening gizmos can be added to your annual ranking offerings. I'm looking forward to your tier list vids.
I'm not a knife guy, but I find this channel somehow mesmerising. My small collection of multitools does however spark joy, particularly my EDC Surge. Ta Pete.
I was issued a Case XX Bowie in the service. I didn't use it for bushcrafting.
The knives that make me happy are my Kabar bk9, Cold Steel 4Max, Mora Companion HD, Twosun TS16-M390, Benchmade Mini Freek. These are the tools that make me happy because when I use then I always take them out and admire them knowing that the work im going to do is made so much easier with them. I tend to cut/carve wood more than anything else, but I like to have a slicer for the occasional cardboard and food prep. I would also add in my Leatherman Surge in the mix because it's the one tool I use the most that has a blade on it. If it had a better steel on the Surge blade I would drop the Mini Freek altogether. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
That lawman Wilhelm legitimately made me lol. 👍
My Buck 124 is choice of belt knife when then finally hand out hunting permits for jurassic park .
The 124 doesn’t get enough love.
I agree 100% on the creely, got the rex 121 with the sheath, such a great EDC fixed blade. I use the hell out of it.
Happy Happy, Joy Joy! "Not to mention the improvement in Peter's grades..." Lol, what was that about ? Well, it made me smile, and that is a good thing.
Great knives
I enjoyed this. Thanks you.
I checked all five channels. You have the awsomer sweater on!
Very nice list 👌
Shoutout to all the knife tubers, wrangler star, and even H3H3. Dope hoodie brotha!
Does h3h3 do knife videos?
You're a genius, I love this.
Good reminder!
Great knives! That police 4 in K390...should've snapped it up at the time (on my list).
My five Demko Knives AD20 MG in 3V, Sandrin Knives Torino in Tungsten Carbide, TwoSun TS90 in M390, DBAD Preacher, and Victorinox Pioneer X.
Love the Chris Reeve Pacific. At $325 it’s less than some newer companies’ fixed blades which don’t match up for value. Fits great in hand. It sits unused in case of extreme need.
That’s one of my favorite looking knives
Glad to see you happy! I like my cheap Megalodon Folder :-)
Great idea
The new quietcarry drift g10 is perfect
A rather curious list. That first one made me think of Hoge's immortal line in a well known classic old time film: "Now thet's a noif". I'm glad your happy. It's noice to be heppy. Long time no comment from this old dude from Canada. It's also nice to fondle a good knife. Cheers!
Struth mate! You're typing that accent like Pete's a bloody Kiwi. Our brothers across the ditch are the ones who say 'thet's some terrufuc fush end chups'. Have a good one ay Hoosier.
@@bennyc409 Sorry. Best I could do, being Canadian & all. No offence intended. It was all said/typed/commented affectionately.
@@Imightberiding no offence taken at all mate! I found it funny as to be honest 🤣
Another cool video, Pete. I have a few hold & admire fixed blades too. Nothing as exotic as that Apocalypse though.
I returned that worksharp Precision sharpener because I couldn't get all the way into the plunge grind on a bunch of knives so I'll be interested to see how it goes for you.
cool ill be sure to check this out in my review
Just had to come back to this vid and say congrats man, this vid has people not even tagged by anyone getting involed.
Great vid Pete, love to see what gives others the same feeling. Hard to understand unless you've got the knife bug. Fixed blades, i have a few bark rivers in ironwood burl that I pick up and admire. Spydercos are new to me, and I'm wondering what took me so long. Love just pulling that para 3 from pocket, actually gives me a dopamine kick i reckon.
I only own 3 knives,
WINKLER belt knife, a Dynamis alliance Revere, a TOOR darter in Ranger Green!
New sub, first time seeing your video. Excellent taste in knives.
Thanks for the video Pete, always fun and instructive ;) My five knives are : Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140mm ; Quiet Carry iQ ; Benchmade Axis Pardue Limited Edition S90V Red G10 ; Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2 (with Sharp Dressed Knives Brown Micarta's scales) ; Ray Laconico Keen (Purple anodised scales) ... Maybe might I do a video on them but I did yet one on my favorites knives ;) Take care dude :)
Benchmade 818 makes me all kinds of happy. Lost count of the number in my collection.
My latest happy blade is an RMJ tactical Unmei
I have a Helle Temagami and a BRKT Bravo 1 that I pick up all the time, but never use. My Terava Jaakaripuukkos and Moras, however, get carried and used all the time!😊😊
Ha!
We will have to trade surf spots someday in private 😎 we don't have sharks, saltwater crocodiles or box jellyfish here on the Great Lakes USA a much different vibe but I'm sure you would dig our small wave vibe 🤙
Ya! Make Happy!
Someone at KA-BAR thinks the USSF is super cool/hilarious. They have three knives and a breaching tool dedicated to the USSF in that same aesthetic. I got my SpaceBar the other day - it's supposed to be for my birthday in 2 months (the price was right) but I keep digging out just to stare and smile.
Talking about small fixed blade makers I love kor knife and tool
No advanced knife bro? Also, do you have a link for the last small fixed blade in the video?
the Wilhelm scream. I'm dying.
That was fun.
Loving the Spyderco weirdness. Yes
Speaking of good small fixed blades, have you ever had a Guardian 3 from Bradford Knives?
I personally love them and highly recommend them.
Was already subbed to 3/5 good taste 👍
the worksharp precision adjust is a pretty good system all by itself but in case you didnt know you can also modify it to take kme stones with a gritomatic 4 inch stone holder. the poor mans kme
They make the endura in K390 now too!
It seems you started a viral topic. Its all over YT now
you going to test the lap films on the worksharp?
I'm really tempted to get one, and the aftermarket lap films
No advanced knife bro tag, feels bad man
you should try the White River M1 backpaker, exelent blade
All my knives make me happy. That’s why I have em, but some make me happier hehehehe. I only have 10 and that’s too many for me hahahaha
I think you will really like the worksharp I have 2
That mako in magnacut not yet available, but I would LOVE to see the Mako in 14C28N to see what Gary Creely can do with that steel.
Wilhelm approved
Great video Pete. So true about Wranglerstar, I find Cody way too preachy these days.
