- Just goofing off here with a little sound check, NOTHING serious here.. ha..ha... :-) I love this 2003 American G&L Classic ASAT guitar. Premium Off white see through finish into swamp ash body. Gun oil tent birds eye neck. :-) Cheers!
Cheers!
Danny
I can't tell you how many times I've watched this over the last 3 years.
Thanks so much buddy :-) I had no idea people would react to this sound check they way they have... lots of kind comments. Just jammin around here :-)
Cheers to you..
Danny
@@dlrdanny it keeps getting better

Holy Mackerel that sound incredible! Your playing… along with those MFD pickups…very nice!
Marc buddy thanks man :-) Love this guitar!
5-6 years late to this party....got a S-500 Tribute a few months ago....wow....MFDs....now I know why I kept buying and selling my Fenders (two Mex, two USA/Deluxe). I have a 2016 USA ASAT Tele on it's way here from NYC. Can't wait...
My ASAT is a 2005 and love it to death... It is a keeper!
Cheers and have fun,
Danny
Very complete demo Dan. Thank you. Tone is well rounded. You serve it up well my friend👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Joe thanks buddy, fin little demo here. Cheers toy you!
Danny
This is why you're one of my favorite UA-cam guitarists :-) beautiful transitions from soulful to ethereal to rude!
mudbone80 Hey man great to see you! Thanks buddy, just goofing off and just felt like playing anything... ha..ha.... :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Insane tone and playing.
Thank you my friend :-) Just some fun :-)
Great demo. I've been playing a G&L ASAT classic for about 5 years now in 2 live bands every weekend, and every time I stray to another guitar, I quickly return to my G&L. It does it all!!
Ha...ha.. I know what you mean.... I have nine guitars but still prefer my G&L's :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Danny,
Great playing and the tone is amazing. Made me go out and get one today.
Ha..ha... I love mine and its a keeper. It is all stock and will stay that way :-)
Have fun!
Danny
Been a while since I've been here. Beautiful stuff as usual and that tone!!!! Cheers bud!
Rozq Hello my friend :-) Just jamming around and testing sound.
Cheers!
Danny
sounds awesome. you play so great! fun to watch.
Thanks a bunch my friend :-) Have a great Christmas!
Cheers,
Danny
you are a great player. I played my ASAT classic with the church band the other week and I couldn't get over how much sustain it had if you heard the recording you would have thought i was a Les Paul
Love mine my friend, it is a 2003 with a transparent while milk finish, you can see the swamp ash grain. Video idoes not really show this :-). Cheers and have fun man!!
Incredibly awesome sound and playing.
Tamir what a nice thing to say my friend, thank you :-). Love this G&L ASAT Custom Classic!
Cheers!
Danny
Now that's a tone. Like the fullness and the extra bite and your tastefull playin' ofcourse. Bookmarked this vid as my tone reference.
Thanks man, love this G&L. It sounds good in everything I plug it into.
Cheers,
Danny
Ordered myself it's little cousin, the tribute version. Hopefully its not too far away from the original one like yours, tone-wise spoken. Can't hear no hum; are those USA G&L's somehow factory shielded or you do it by yourself? Thanks for responding. Peter.
They have less noise than regular single coils but they still have it. it's just the sound am using. You still have to turn a little left or right to minimize hum :-). That's ok though :-). Have fun with it, the tributes are nice my friend!!
Cheers,
Danny
Yeah! Really sweet sound and awesome playing, Danny!!! Thumbs up! :-)
I love that guitar, too! Take care, Kauchi
***** Kauchi this guitar is so sweet to me... it is my favorite that I have :-) Cheers and thanks!!
Cheers!
Danny
Hey Danny, awesome and in fact it's so sweet I went today and bought a G&L ASAT myself....So sweet - I will send you a couple pics in a day or two... Great playing as always brother Danny! You seriously rock and make anything thing sound fabulas
Ah... cool! I really love mine for what I do, I will always have it. Love the sock pickups!! Love to see the pics :-)
That thing sounds amazing. Nice playin'
Craig buddy thanks my friend. Love this guitar, had for quite a while now, a keeper :-)

Awsome as always! cheers
lucianoobelo Thanks man :-) A fun little sound check test :-)
Cheers!
Danny
I can't tell you how many times I have watched this, and tried to mimic this tone... nor how many times I have shared it to others to share the sonic range and raw powerful betercaster tone of the G&L ASAT classic. I love mine, it will be with me till the end.
Yep. other guitar come and go... this will always stay :-) Love this guitar!
Thanks man!
Danny
Great sound from the Tele, and some cool playing Danny
All the best.............Mick
Mick Wilkinson Mick my friend thank buddy :-) It sounded really sweet to me when I picked it up and just wanted to post its sound :-)

+Phill PT : Thanks Phill, fun little test my friend :-)
Cheers!
Danny
100% love your tone man!
Zane buddy thanks man! Had this guitar for a while now and love it :-)
Cheers!
Danny
What sound is that on the eleven rack?
Hey Zane! I used the MS-30 head and the 4-12 Greenback 25 watt speakers, and the 414 mic for this. The effects was my old Alesis Quadraverb. Cheers! Danny
I made it myself Zane....
Cheers,
Danny
Hey Danny, thanks for the vid! Sounds great. I've been doing a bit of research lately as I'm in the market for a Tele. Glad I remembered G&L. I think I've watched over 100 vids. The USA made ASAT Classic is the obvious choice. Also, I appreciate you being responsive to people that have left comments. One thing I have noticed with a lot of guitar players is that they never respond! People ask; hey what amp? what pedal? etc. Never a response...thanks for taking the time to do that. No need to respond to me...hahaha!!! Take care, Andy from WA state.
Have a great day man.... cheers my friend :-)
Danny
Excellent et quel son magnifique !!! génial
franck O-O Franck thank you! :-)
Cheers!
Danny
great sound danny, i was searching for this demo on youtube and bump on your video. i actually want to buy this guitar. my decision has made..hahaha... thx a lot for the video
+Yudhi Irawan : Thank you Yudhi :-). I love this guitar my friend... it fits me :-)
Cheers!
Danny
You have some sweet tones!!! I just traded off my (us) fender tele for my asat classic (us). I'm glad I did. Great playing. Cheers
Thanks man :-) Love mine! Have fun with your new toy!
Cheers!
Danny
Finally a video worth listening to. I am now sold on a G&L ASAT. Thanks.
Brian thanks man, love this guitar.... it fits me :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Iam strictly an acoustic player, but have had Tele's in the past. Thought about a Mexican Tele, but like the G&L. I like the color you have, but probably will go with the Butterscotch. What is the amp you are playing through.
Brian Nogueira Good morning Brian, I am using an 11 Rack and a ol Alesis Quadraverb. Love the guitar, it fits me :-)
The Tribute G&Ls are roughly the same price as the Mexican Fenders and very close to American Standard Fenders in quality, play-ability and tone, IMO.
Hi Danny,
Did you buy the Eleven Rack new or used? do you use a controller board, the unit's interface, or...? (I know you can store patches in ProTools, but if you don't have Protools is there still a windows interface? Eleven Rack is somewhat notorious for their poor product support...
Thanks in advance...
Great, great, really a great tone!
David thanks buddy :-). Great guitar to me, so touch sensitive.....
Cheers,
Danny
Pleasure!
Good evening Igor :-)
Cheers,
Danny
perfect sound :)
Thanks my friend, sweet guitar :-)

Danny
great playing! good demonstration of the sounds
Franklin thanks buddy, love my G&L's :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Just wondering, is this the american one or the tribute model asian one?
2003 American :-)
I have a sunburst classic USA, just ordered a USA bluesboy, I agree with the volume knob cleaning up the gain very well, way better than my les paul cleans up
Yep, it works better than any of my guitars. I actually use my volume control! Ha..ha... Have fun with the Bluesboy, used to have one :-). Cheers!
Danny
Best demo I've seen for the ASAT ! great representation of its capabilities. would love to see the same done with that Bluesboy in the back
Oh, that's a Tele in the back. 😬
Jonathan thanks my friend :-). Fun stuff! That in back is a Fender but here is my Bluesboy:
ua-cam.com/video/cTzwnbf7qVc/v-deo.html
Thank you!
Danny
Awesome! Thanks my friend. I just order a tribute Bluesboy and seeing you playing is very similar to my style and tones so it's really inspiring. Thanks
Have fun with your new toy man :-)
Cheers!
Danny
:-)
I don't know why so many people think they need the Bluesboy with the humbucker neck pickup when this magnetic field design single coil neck pickup in the Asat Classic is the best sounding pickup G&L puts in any of their guitars. It's just a killer sounding neck pickup. I love mine.
+Gomer Pyle - I agree, I had a Bluesboy and perfer this pickup much better than the Bluesboy for what I do. Just love these pickups myself :-) They responce to touch so well....
Cheers!
Danny
Man, that guitar sounds great!
Thanks Billy, fun stuff man :-)
Danny
wow. This dude rocks!!
Hey Don thanks buddy :-). Fun test man!
Cheers,
Danny
Fantastic playing. Great sound check!!
Hey Danny! Thanks buddy, fun little test man :-)
Cheers!
I've got an Tribute ASAT Classic being shipped to me right now, hope to get it tomorrow. Can't wait to do my own test! Thoroughly enjoyed yours.
Have fun with it Danny, the tributes are real nice! This one in USA Made :-)
How do you like your Tribute ASAT? I've got a Tribute Bluesboy and it's awesome...
Mike Austin Hey Mike, this is a USA 2005 model. I love it and will never part with it. I have had it for quit a while now :-). Have fun man!
Hi Danny, please please do a review and talk through of this ASAT
I did ask you sometime ago to do one and you said you would. We would love to see a close up of the guitar and other gear you use. Please as I’m sure plenty of people would love it. Lastly feel free to put more videos up of you playing as much as we like the ones you’ve done I know I’m not alone when I say we want more. Thank you Danny.
All the best, Paul.
Paul buddy sorry for the late response. UA-cam had this comment stuck in my "approval" folder so I did not see this... just found and approved the comment... dang. Yes I remember you :-). I have not had time to do another with work and life requiring my attention. I may int the future do that video. I have that guitar out right now... ha..ha..
Cheers,
Danny
tks! good demo
+關惠中 Thank you my friend :-)

Danny
Amazing!
Alex thank you my friend :-) A fun little test!
Cheers,
Danny
Cheers from Seoul...
Stephen Allard Cheers Stephen!!!
Danny
That neck pickup is stellar! As is that telescope.
I love it also man, never change both of these pickups. The bridge is a little gritty and like it that way. The neck can be sweet and warm with a full sound but can also be ballsy when you nail it :-). The volume control works so well on this guitar.... it acks like a gain control indtead of a volume control.
Cheers,
Danny
very nice tone~~~
namsu kita Thanks Namsu!! :-) Cheers!
Danny
Sounds great Danny, theres some good deals on asat classics at the minute & i'm weighing up buying one. Videos are very hard to find, but thankfully i found yours.
Excellent playing & the guitar sounds and looks great!! i think i might have to buy one ;-)
+Steveq Wilson : Love the guitar Steveq, it is a keeper for me :-)
Cheers!
Danny
I've got 4 USA G&Ls and a Tribute and they're excellent. You (probably) can't go wrong with a G&L...
Mike Austin I have 3 American G&L's. 2 Legacy Specials, one a 1992, the other 1996, both have 3 bolt necks and this ASAT Classic, love them all :-)
Nice sound Danny !! I've also a G&L Asat with signature (I've subs you)
Thanks David, sweet guitars :-) Subbed
Cheers!
Danny
Thank You!!
Fabulous
Thanks my friend... love the guitar :-)
Cheers!
Danny
I love my Asat Classic. I play mainly a lot of chicken pickin country guitar when I'm on the road and in the studio and my Asat is my go to everytime. Love your Eric Johnson style licks man.
+Lindsey Myers : Lindsey thanks my friend :-). Love this G&L, I also have a 1993 G&L Legacy Special Strat that I put Dimarizio Virtual Vintage pickups on, old style 3 bolt neck.... sweet guitar also. It has a swamp ash body :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Sorry to hijack the thread, but how would you rate the 3-bolt neck versus the 4-bolt neck? The plastic-looking' hardware is kind of a turn-off. Any reasons to be particularly excited about the 3-bolt design?
I think both the 3 & 4 bolt necks are good but just like the older G&L's better. When I say earlier I just mean 2004 or less. My ASAT Classic is a 2003 and love it. The 3 bolt necks are different and have an old school feel to them and I just like that. Everyone will have different opinions of course :-)
Oh... the plastic hardware on all my 3 G&Ls is high quality, not sure what you mean there... Cheers :-)
The rear neck plate and rear cover for the string holes look like plastic in pictures (perhaps because they aren't chrome). It is some kind of black metal, then? Probably one of the dumbest questions in history, since, of course, the rear plate would be metal.
Danny, I keep returning to this, I love to hear how you make the guitar go so many places. Could I ask please, what the amp/pedal setup is here?
+MrCopperthwaite : Good evening my friend :-). I was using an 11 Rack and a 23 year old (lost count) Alesis Quadraverb for echo and reverb. This went straight into my line in jack of my PC. That's it. Thanks for the kind words :-)
Cheers!
Danny
I have both the g&L and classic vibe..I can’t tell the difference.
Really? American G&L?
cHEERS,
Danny
WOW!!!!!
Thanks buddy :-)
Cheers,
Danny
You are REALLY FUCKING GOOD!! my friend!!
ha..ha... thanks man, just goofing off and surprised so many people like this demo. Thanks a bunch my friend :-)
Cheers,

Shades of Eric Johnson in there! :) Great guitar.
;Love Eric's playing :-). A little demo for the heck of it. Love this G&L for sure.
Cheers and thanks,
Danny
Very nice...
Thanks Steven :-). Fun little sound check :-)

I hope to be able to "goof off" like you someday.......NICE!
Cool! I love my American G&L ASAT... Have fun!

perfect sound !
what amp and pedal you use?
+Kang Yu Lu : Good morning Kang.... thanks my friend :-). I am using a 11 Rack and a 23 year old Alesis Quadraverb for echo and reverb. This runs into my PC line in jack.

Lalairu Thank you Lalairu :-) I really like the G&L'S I have... Cheers!!
Danny
good tone...!!
Ado Nakamura Hello Ado! Great to see you my friend! Thank you :-)
Cheers!
Danny
even a simple test drive sounds great when u r doing it. I have question for you: these ASAT's are well known for their 60 cycle hum, what do u do to avoid it all and most importantly at the volume level that u play I like g&l's a lot but I always have to replace the pickups for their noise. thanx and keep posting. I enjoy ur playing! .
Francisco Felix Francisco that's the first time I have heard that. Sure these are single coils and you may need to shift your guitar left or right like a Strat a little depending how much gain you are using but much more quiet than a Strat. I do not really have issues with that at all. I love the dynamics of the guitar and the sound in the different dynamics. The volume control works so well, it's like turning down the gain without effecting the tone, this is sooooo useful. It really does not effect the tone as far as I can tell.
Cheers Francisco and thank you!
Danny
Great!
Thanks David, love this guitar :-)
Cheers,
Danny
@@dlrdanny I also have a G&L ASAT Classic from the year '95, it's an amazing guitar and it's also maple birdeyes. Regards, David.
@@ADavid_ Ah... what a treat! I will always keep mine :-) I also have a 1995 G&L Legacy Special and 97 Legacy :-) Love them!
@@dlrdanny Great, good instruments. Hug from Portugal. =)
❤❤❤
Thanks :-)
Hey Danny nice noodling Is that a bluesboy in the background? What does the humbucker add in the BB vs single coil? Also, I noticed you use either the neck or bridge pickup in this vid. without center position(both pickups) Much different than a strat?
A 2011 Fender in the background. Humbucker is little mellow and fuller. I like singles best but the Humbucker has it's place. This TELE I am playing can get pretty Stat like when you nail it.... pickups are the stock G&L's which I love :-) Cheers!
Danny
Hey! Great playing and great tone. Been considering one of these. Does yours have the MFD pups?
Ted Pileggi Hey Ted! Thanks man, yes is guitar is all stock. Original pickups and all :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Thanks Danny. About ready to get one and has the MFD pups which I really like. But was suggested I try one with the jumbo MFD pups first for added tone variations but no one seems to carry them to play first. Great to hear yours stock. What a sound. Keep up the postings.
Ted Pileggi Funny Ted that not many carry this brand..... really nice guitars man... Have fun if you get one :-)
Cheers!
I was wondering if I could put some of Your vids on My page
TheMudskipper999 Any time and you do not have to ask :-) That is a nice compliment my friend :-) This is all for fun and for anyone who likes what I do :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Danny I've got swamp ash 2015 American Standard Telecaster that I loved until I heard this! Man what a tone. Needless to say I'm buying a G&L ASAT Classic made in the USA asap you have got the sound that's in my head and as you know how do you try and explain a sound to someone it's impossible don't get me wrong I'm a good player with a good sound but nothing that compares to your sound. Please tell me what amp & overdrive you are using for this video. Many thanks my new friend.
Paul this is a 2003 swamp ash body that you can see through to the wood, video you cannot really see it. The neck is birds eye with the gun oil tint. I love these stock pickups myself and are more raw and gritty but not overwound. On this video I am just plugged into my Eleven Rack and using a mild overdrive pedal that's inside of it. The echo and reverb come from a 25 year old Alesis Quadraverb I have had forever... ha..ha.. This plugs into my interface directly to my PC, no real amp. Thats it :-) I will always have this guitar, its a keeper. You can find these used for great prices. Cheers and thanks man!
Danny
Hi Danny, thank you for your response are you by any chance in the USA where I guess these guitars are common place? Because let me tell you over here in the UK they are as common as hens teeth. Can't even get them new.the importer over here is Blackstar I believe and they've filled our shops with the ones made in Indonesia :-( I want an American G&L asat classic! Not a lot to ask really but asking the music shops to get you a American made asat over here it would be easier to get toothpaste back in the tube and can't understand why?
The Americans ones have mojo Paul. I have a 1996 Legacy Special Strat, a 1997 Legacy strat and this 2003 ASAT Classic all American. I had a G&L S500 at one time that was real nice from indonesia but did not feel American enough for me and got rid of it pretty quick. Not all American G&L's are created equal like other guitars though.... I have play some I did not care for but still were nice. The 3 I have seem special to me.
Hi again Danny, what finish is your ASAT classic is it a ash body with a translucent blonde finish? It’s hard to tell on the video. Also what’s the neck radius 9.5” or 12”
Thanks again, Paul.
Hey Paul... yes ash body with translucent finish. The video does not really show this. Not sure of the radius but think it is a 12". More of a flat feel.
Cheers man,
Danny
May i ask for your honest opinion on g&L ASAT Classic vs fender tele american standard? Which one should i go for?
My honest answer is I do not know. I have had both and my fender Tele I had was nice also. I prefer the G&L but others may not. For what I do I love the ASAT Classic. If I was a hard core country picker then I would just change the pickups but you can get the standard type of pickups that Fender uses from G&L if you like. These are the G&L MFD type that are in mine. This guitar to me is a Custom shop guitar without the price especially used. They do not hold their value as well as Fender but who cares... I did not get it as an investment. This has a see through cream/white finish that shows the swamp ash body, I gun oil tented neck with some birds-eye and a super build. Love it :-)
Tight playing and killer tone.. what are you playing though?
Thanks my friend :-) Just playing through an Eleven Rack and a old Alesis Quadraverb for echo and reverb.
Cheers,
Danny
I have a question: Is the ASAT "faster" guitar than the Legacy? Great playing BTW
I can play both fast when needed. Can't really say one is faster than the other. This ASAT feels like it has a little flatter fret board than both my Legacy's and it is quick to play. Love it just the way it is... stock, it's a keeper for me :-).
Cheers,
Danny
Hi Danny, it's hard to tell from the video: are those MFD or alnico pickups? I've got an ASAT Classic S (MFD) and 3 other G&Ls. Love them. Very playable and they don't sound like their Fender equivalents.
Hey Mike. they are the stock MFD pickups..... I will never change them :-) I have 3 American G&L's and love them.
Cheers,
Danny
Dang!!!

Me french 🇨🇵me fan 😂❤❤❤❤
Hows the hum with the MFD pickups and overdrive?
You still have buzz like any single coil. it is the nature of the beast. I think it is not as bad as standard strat singles myself though :-) It does not bother me though...
Danny...could you note what gauge you're using on this axe, and do you use the same on all of 'em? Also, what brand? TIA
+Kevin : I use only "Curt Mangan" strings on all my guitars and love them myself :-). I use Nickle wound 10-46 except for a jazz guitar which I use 11's. Cheers!!

Hello from Argentina!! what effect pedal do you use?
No pedals, don't have any...ha..ha.. Just an Eleven Rack and a 25 year old Alesis Quadraverb for echo and reverb :-). Cheers David!
Danny Roffe Ok. Is a great sound!!
pedaliera Vox tonelab LE ?
A standard ST Sergio :-)
Good stuff. Sounds a lot like Eric Johnson...

Signal chain?
craig4fsu Guitar into my 11 rack, out of that into a small Mackie board analog (No EQ on board used), Out of the Mackie analog to the line of my PC. The effects are a 22 year old Alesis Quadraverb going into the boards effect send stereo. Thats it. I use the Mackie as a way to interface the impedence properly. All eq is from the 11 rack.
Cheers!
Danny
Danny Roffe You've certainly got the sound tweaked.Sounds great.I hear a lot of influences in your playing.I'm guessing you really dig the MFD's?I have two USA S500's that the MFD's really stand out.More middy/growly and quieter than my USA Fender pups.Just my opinion of course.Currently shopping a USA ASAT classic in butter scotch.
Quadraverb holding up okay?Older gear can be a pain to keep running sometimes and an even bigger pain to find parts for.

Take care,
Is it swamp ash or alder?
+brettdiaz : It's swamp ash :-)
Cheers!
Danny
Listening to your playing made up my mind to go asat instead of 52 Fender
I love my ASAT. had it quite a while now. This one is a 2003, swamp ash see through while finish body, gun oil tent birds eye maple neck. Stock pickups and love them myself :-). Nothing against Fender Tele's but for the price of this G&L only a high priced custom shop would be better to me. You can get these with Fender type pickups also if you prefer that sound :-).
Cheers!
Danny
@@dlrdanny , won't let me put a picture up but got a butterscotch, plan on playing a bunch of Stone's stuff
@@70snuttodd95 Sounds nice my friend :-)

Hey man. What drive are you using ?
Zane I think I was using MS-30 amp in the 11 Rack. No overdrive, just the amp wide open and me beating the guitar :-).
Cheers!
Danny
Dude. Your tone is way mad. You use the vox tone lab pedals a lot. Do you know how I might your tones with a amp and drive pedal combination? Your tone is basically exactly what I'm looking for. I'm about to buy a Fender bass breaker. What's your main amp?
Zane I am using the 11 Rack and have been for a while now. I have not used the Tonelab in a couple years but was able to get 3 or 4 usable sounds out of it and still have. This is the 11 Rack and a 24 year old Alesis Quadraverb for echo and reverb. Nothing special :-). I have a large 110 watt VOX modeling amp I use if I play out which is rare. The 11 rack was just an amp turned up with no pedals or overdrive. Just the amp and quadraverb for this one :-)
I bet you you can play some Van Halen with that axe. :)
If it only had a whammy bar! Ha...ha...
If I was your neighbour I would be banging on the wall and saying "Why have you stopped?"
+John Willoughby Ha....ha... John... You made me spit coffee everywhere! Cheers buddy and hope your doing well.
