Wow man, you're an amazing player! Just got an ASAT Tribute about a month ago in Olympic white and I love it! Just ordered a custom black pickguard for it to replace the white one. What an incredible guitar for the money. Just subbed!

Thanks Jonathan. It is helpful that you share your opinion. Another plus is that you play the variety of styles each guitar can produce faithfully. I enjoy hearing play. Thank you for playing guitars in the neck pickup position, as well as playing the lower notes.

I was surprised how good the bridge pick up sounded, it was bright without being shrill. Love the overall look of it. It’s out of my price range unfortunately, but it would have surely gone on my short list if I did. Thanks again for a great demo of this great guitar.

G&L should give you one for as your demos will be selling loads of them. Can't wait for the Espada demo, that guitar has loads of tone options.

Which do you prefer, this one, or the Bluesboy with the humbucker (I watched your review if that one as well)? If you were only getting one of them, which would you choose and why?

What Gauge of strings do you recommend for that G&L ASAT?

  • @kennetheduardo8744

That guitar was used by the leader of Soda Stereo in his phase of solist Gustavo Cerati, now you recommend it as a buy for a guitar that will be played for years every day? and how can i get one if i live in Mexico? Great video cheers

The only thing that gives me pause is the fact it uses only 12/1 non locking tuners. For that kind of money they ought to come with at least 18/1 locking tuners, like the standard Fender locking tuners. Also, where does the maple in the neck come from? Being a Canadian snob (;p), if it ain't Canadian maple it's inferior. I don't really know if that is true or not but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! ;p Besides, Fender only used Canadian maple for eons and everyone knows Fender is always right, don't they? You are a wonderful player Jonathan!

I've checked with the guys @ G&L and they told me the Wood comes from the states and Canada ..But I think the wood for the tribute series will be sourced locally in Asia✌🤓

Thanks, I’ll look them up. All I have now is a Fishman Loudbox Artist. I play my acoustics through it and a Guild x175 Manhattan and a Taylor T5 with both pickups visible on the body. Pretty sweet. I have a 1994 Roland BC310 in storage in Anchorage. Bought it new and still love it.

What was that at 6:03, did you channel Tommy Bolin? Obviously G&L make some great high end guitars, that are fantastic in the hands of a great player like you. I prefer low cost guitars that still sound good and play well, but are more in line with my current ability (low lol) - though I do own a couple of G&Is .. They are not my go to
Too bad the music industry has changed so much, seems you would have been great for a classic rock band

Hey Mike, I saw you are commenting on many G&l Videos and I hope you can help me with your knowledge:
I am looking for a T style guitar with less harshness than a F Tele. I ended up at G&L Asat but I am not sure which one to pick:
      Asat classic (alder body)
      Asat special (swamp ash body)
      Asat Tribute (swamp ash body)
      Thanks a lot!

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud

Yep.. quite a decision to make. I went with the bluesboy because I have a couple of Teles and wanted something different. If you don’t have a Tele yet.. get this one. And get the bluesboy later✌️❤️

It seems you developed a technique without ever using your pinky finger much and move around the fretboard by positions rather than, as most players do, stretch it out and move around - along the neck horizonally - rather gradually. Not many players do that, but you sound great doing it.
