I just took delivery of my new 2021 Polaris Ranger Crew Northstar Premium. Price was $25,799 plus tax and it took 2 months to get it. Absolutely worth it for me. Year round use with the heat and a/c . This Ranger will go places that my Jeep CJ7 wouldn’t.
agreed. people are like oh, i can buy an older 4x4 truck with that money. well those older trucks are not as small as a Ranger... way more capability.
Prove it.
That is the cheapest Northstar I’ve ever heard of
@@raford250He probably blew the salesman in the back room 🤷
@@jimh.412 haha maybe! Mine was 32k.
For $28,000 I can buy a good quality used 4x4 and get more work done.
It's a shame these have gotten so expensive for what they are.
Exactly I bought my used tundra a few years ago for $28,000 and can tow 10K and haul the whole family around comfortably…there’s no shortage of people that have more money than sense
@@greatcornholio5541 apples to oranges
I have the Northstar Premium. Totally worth every penny. I use it everyday and it's a great machine for trail riding and I can work the hell out of it.
I’d like to see a comparison of this to one of the Japanese mini trucks
There is no comparison. Japanese mini trucks are heavy-duty.... This thing is a toy compared to them
@@rcash3625 but this "toy" will go places you can't even begin to drive a Japanese mini truck. I'm talking about steep hills and trails. The Polaris is way more comfortable.
For everyone saying just buy a truck, you have no idea what the Polaris is used for. It can run circles around modded jeeps on trails with that ground clearance and small width. There's tons of places they are road legal for little money extra. A pickup can't go 90% of the places one of these can. And all these base model trucks and jeeps you quote starting at the same price aren't even real. Stay mad seeing people enjoying their life in a comfortable SxS while you're stuck in your full size or spending $5k+ to attempt to keep up
it's funny seeing everyone comment who have no knowledge of what these are used for. an older Tacoma or 4x4 truck won't fit through our hunting land trails. it is a bit expensive, but thats why i have a used Ranger
Yeah , my father bought one and he loves it. The air works great and the cab is air tight . It has been over 100 in Northern AZ and the Ac will freeze you out of the unit lol. Ours is street legal .
Matt from Matt's Off Road will be plucking them out if the Utah desert starting in August
Good review as always. Going to get therapy now for sticker shock.
Man this thing just makes my 2021 polaris general xp4 1000 look like a lexus. Just doesnt have glass or hvac.
I just ordered a Ranger 570 Northstar. $18k. A lot but that’s what it is and I’m going to use it a lot.
A new 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 starts at $28,475. Please tell me how it makes any sense to buy one of those Polaris Rangers.
I bet dollars to donuts there’s a difference in the tax treatment. Also, insurance costs might make a difference as well.
@@nunyabidness3075 Insurance is based on usage and vehicle value. Taxes are determined based on usage (more taxes and fees for on-road use). The biggest factor here being that a Polaris can't be used legally on the road (with very few exceptions and conditions).
None of this is even taking into account resale value. Jeeps have a higher resale percentage after five years than a Toyota. I'd hate to have to try to sell a five year old Polaris that I paid $30,000 for.
There are places up here that some vehicle access is limited by weight. Heavy off road vehicles over 1500 lbs empty weight aren’t allowed. We have a cabin off a trail that that Jeep would be a pain, I have seen heavy vehicles buried and we just drive on by while we say good luck.
@@Chris_at_Home Oh yes, absolutely. But based on that, this Polaris also wouldn't be allowed on that weight-limited trail. The curb weight the model being tested here weighs 1955 lbs without the fluids, so it also wouldn't be allowed. It only carries 2 people. If you get the crew cab, it weighs 2400 lbs dry.
I do know what you mean about needing a smaller vehicle, though. I'm just saying it almost always doesn't make sense compared to a Jeep.
@@extraplain are they making them heavier than a few years ago? i have a crew and it weighs 1934 dry w/o cab no way the cab weighs 400 lbs.
"Guys I don't know what else to say about this"- Andre. Andre, I am sure TFL will figure out something more to say. Take it to Davids ranch. Take it to the off road roads. Take to Moab. Take it to the Rubicon trail! Oh and btw, the TRX that TFL owns, I bet that A/C still works is just as capable of towing with and would be far more comfortable to drive than that old ford pick up. ;)
Good luck getting one. They are getting thousands more orders than they have capability of making them. And they are having issues getting parts for the higher end models like this. A friend had to wait months to get his factory ordered Ranger similar to this.
their factories(like all the other factories) are having a hard time keeping up, i ordered rear doors back in april still no idea when theyll come in.
For that price, you are getting close to a brand new mid sized work truck. Maybe not 4x4 though.
If it was street legal so I could at least go on a beer run it would help justify the cost.
I agree man
They are where I live
They need a truck manufacturer to buy them out and sell it cheaper since they can bring down the cost. Would make it more affordable and maybe more widely adopted.
awesome review just brought one pick it up next couple days
I think this is a better compact truck than the Maverick. This is more what I think of when I hear "compact truck."
Using my 2019 1000 with the factory cab etc, in this snowstorm, and the water comes in around the windshield and not just a small amount either. Has also been a hard shifting pos since day one, redone something under warranty because it would fall out of gear while driving. Shuts off for no reason, and have to turn key off, then restart, and may or may not stay running. Have two 900 rangers and wouldn’t trade either for a new one even up.
Very nice, handy little vehicle. Would love to own one.
Wow 28k! The profit margin on those things must be huge! I would have guessed 10-12k 😳
28k?!?!?! Are they insane?
Yes they are.
Looks like just the thing to take you, your buddy, your dog, and the hogzilla you just shot out of the brush on a 110 degree day in Texas. And you need to quickly get home to fire up the smoker to cook something good for your wife because she's mad at you for buying the Ultimate Ranger instead of the custom SxS shotgun she's always wanted!
😉😉😉
Perfect. People can buy these mini trucks since the price of real trucks are skyrocketing🚀
I just can't wrap my head around why someone would pay close to $30k for a UTV. Maybe it's just me.
Cool ain’t cheap and cheap ain’t cool.
@@jjfore0921 sorry, wrangler ftw at that price point.. you think uselss spending is cool? What are you, 16?
@@doylee469 I’m 40. I have a jeep, and two of these rangers. The rangers run circles around my jeep on my ranch. Actually, I don’t even use my jeep on my ranch anymore. My wife uses the jeep to drive to her yoga classes when the weather is nice. As far as my useless spending goes, it’s really none of your business. Keep trolling people. It seems to be working out well for u. Cheers bud! Remember to vote Republican!
If you work out of one all day on the farm they are worth every penny !
@@jjfore0921 I'm same way. I get places on my ranch I cant begin to get in my 4wd pickup. And with a lot smoother ride. I would hate to be without it.
This vehicle is worth $15,000 max. Should be closer to $12,000.
I just bought one and it was over 40000.00 but that is also Canadian funds
This is perfection for hunting.
And the gas milage is insane .
I bought a brand new Kubota diesel 4x4 tractor with a loader 15K.
28 grand? I just don’t know what to say.
TBH that’s not a lot for $28000
I would like to see run 200k miles like you would be able to with a real truck
might be possible if you take care it.
I got a 2023 polaris ranger sp 570
I can see that this would fit down a lot of trails that a Jeep or truck won't, but for that much money it is hard to justify unless you are towing it behind a $70K truck or if it fits inside a toy hauler you already own. I would rather have 5 quads.
Are the doors removable? Easily?
Can you use it as a daily driver
i do a lot of fun just make sure you look into its quircks before you do its not something purely for point a to b but if you want more than that i say its great.
I could get a decently equipped Maverick XLT for this money. Not interested.
need a hand brake the only thing i need for mine to plate it
What's the warranty period?
im shocked by the price, my 2019 crew is nearly 10k cheaper, if this is the direction they are going then im glad i got one when i did 28k is way too much for a 3 seater when a few years ago the northstar crew was cheaper.
believe me you get what you pay for
$28,000!?!? 🤣🤣🤣
Unless you're running a plow, you're never going to need all those extras.
I still prefer the Can Am Defender limited.
A/C out on the Ford???????
I’ve never understood these….just buy a Jeep or a 4x4 pickup. Or a 4 wheeler. Another gotta get one because the neighbors got one BS expense.
you've never understood these because you must not have farm land, or hunting land. we love our sxs in Mississippi
@@TNAWWE actually I have both. I’ll admit the side by sides are fun but a 4 wheeler is more fun and a Jeep is far more utilitarian.
I just don’t need or want a gas powered 4x4 golf cart….yet. When I get older or fatter that may change.
Your title doesn't say ultimate
Indeed
Why didn’t you get the EV version? I want to know it’s real range.
It batter turn in to a transformer with that price tag
Rich mans toy now
Ah, I don’t think so.
ROFL costs more than Ford Maverick !!
Also more reliable than any ford
I was all excited about this until you went over the pricing. No ... Hell No!
Quau o número do telefone da onde voce comprou esse ai.
Sounds like a lawn mower.
Psh.....30K....Unreal.....
I think it's safe to say I'd much rather have a well equipped Maverick for the same price as that. Good lord that's a lot of money for that thing.
Used Tacoma with a new radio and still have money left over.
this is way smaller than an Old Tacoma. i can take this to the hunting trails, not so much with the Tacoma, too wide
Polaris has lost their corporate mind.
Oh dammit, just take my money!!
Quau o presso dele.
What no radio, and what about the rear end, does it unlock for easier turning, I dont like my Rhino with posi rear end, it just dont turn a tight radius. And what about speed, is it to much to ask for something with tractor speed for towing off road trailers. 28k and cant even drive it on the road, and if you could it wont go 70 mph , probably 45-50, to slow for road and to fast for off road, the AC and heat is nice..........
Ultimate have a radio, rear end does unlock, top speed is mid 60s.
It’s a plastic truck… i dunno bout that.. 🤔
it's not worth it for all the bad customer service you get form the manufacture
i would only buy one as a tax write off, if i needed it. Other than that, no it just doesn’t make good investment sense.
The Northstar has had A/C heat and power windows for years. You would think for that money you would get premium shocks. Garbage.
Not practical at all
Just buy a truck.
For 28 grand, you can lift a Ford maverick and make it more capable. Those prices are laughable.
More capable than a sxs for offroad and working a backyard/large property? That would never happen, side by sides exist for a reason
Lifting a maverick won't make it anywhere close to a sideby side, I think your comment is a little silly.
@@BullittKid08 for $28k you can buy a used truck and build it up for of road. It isn't like the Ranger of high performance or anything and the number of miles people put on them isn't large. The price is way too high to make them useful for any operation.
For Gods sake if you wanna use it for “backyard chores/things” buy a small tractor for less, plus implements, and do twice as much with it.
Fully decked out with plastic and steel that'll rust in a hurry. Buy a tractor, or cheap 4 wheeler for fun. Gimme a break
Buy a jeep. Street legal also
a stock jeep doesn't have any where close to the capacity of this machine offroad.
These things are pretty cool, but unless you have a lot of land and storage space, it doesn't make sense. They need to make one that is totally electric.
they did but discontinued it.
It's coming out in December.
First
ZF must adapt for loaded/unloaded handling. can-am ads. target ag users. They probably get tax credit for tools.
