@@markalden Thanks man. Do you regret it or do you love it? Im enjoying the hell out of it. I feel like i got to get the v10 and a nice body style without spending the premium of new model. The tech is whatever.... kind of sucks.. but all i need is my backup cam and phone haha
@@michaelmorningstar1443 it was my dream car. So no regrets hehe. And hopefully I can move on to the v10 in the future

Great video man, and I needed this because I was curious. My insurance on this is around £3.8k, (a 2011 V10 is £2.3k), I paid £2.1k for the TT after passing my test last july so I'm used to that pain haha but this means I'll probably find myself going for 1st gen V8 or V10 especially for the manual.

Hi Mark, Great insight to ownership, you’ve done remarkably well to own an R8. My costs are similar too, I pay congestion charge to drive in to London, and had a major service done by Ricky at RE performance before Xmas. Good luck 💪

As much as I would have loved to get it done at Ricky’s, its just a bit of a drive from me sadly
@@markalden Hi Mark, Congestion is £15 daily. Ricky is a way from Hull, I’m sure you have good dealerships closer. I’ve got insurance assessors going down to Ricky in the coming week to view my car and make a decision..🙏
Do you only pay when you go into London?

Great vid bro, I've been looking at R8s and I want to add one to the garage but I don't know if I can stomach the tax, I got so used to cars that avoid it that £600+ a year is brutal. For context one loophole is American cars, I daily a c6 corvette down in the south of the UK and it only costs £500 to insure a year fully comp, £290 a year tax (all American cars are the same low tax regardless of engine size) and it's ULEZ compliant (ik, stupid given it's a 6 litre V8 lol). So now when I look at other cars to add to the garage it's like a huge kick in the balls!
I don't know if you have found this or maybe it's just me but insurance on exotic cars is actually cheaper than "normal" cars in a lot of cases. An R8 for me is about £700-£800pa to insure but a golf R for example is like £3k or even something grim like an evoque is £1500. The man maths is saying to only buy exotic cars make it make sense.

I think a lot of the exotics insurance are usually priced lower as most are tucked in the garage and doesn’t usually get ragged around as compared to a golf-r where it has a high rate of getting stolen and raced around hehe

@@lolmeercatz10 i’ve been seeing a few peoples insurance go up this year as well. So we shall see when its time to renew.

Any reason you went PCP instead of HP or loan? Are you also saving for the balloon payment? If so, that arguably needs adding to the monthly cost 😬
the hp was just a little more monthly wise. if I do end up keeping the car i would probably just finance the balloon as well.
there is road tax in US in some states and its way more than what you pay. Great car

Really fun video. I'm considering a 2014 V10 spyder. But I'm weird and wont buy it unless I do cash. Saving still... Should I be concerned about repairs now that its 10 years old? Concerns me. USA

Iv got a3 tdi and pay 100 tax every 6 month but i do alot of miles i got mine with 65k on had the car 4 years now has 132k on i put around 300 a month in fuel and insurance is 43.52 what exhaust you running on that sounds epic

Thank you! what is a CPO?
@markalden CPO means certified pre owned. If you have a car that is CPO then it’s under a warranty so even if say (god forbid) the engine blew up or the transmission failed, it would be fully covered by the dealer and it wouldn’t come out of pocket
