I'm Greek living in Greece and I love when people (either Greek like Christine or not) who cook and present greek recipes focus on the core of the greek cuisine: simplicity and quality. Well done, Christine! Those "greek lemon potatoes" (in Greece we usually call them "oven potatoes") are a super traditional recipe, which usually accompanies roast chicken, lamb, goat, beef or pork steaks, biftekia (kind of greek burgers) etc. Extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and oregano of good quality are the three basic ingredients for this recipe. Organic lemon zest is an extra ingredient which gives the dish a wonderful lemon flavor. Personally, when I cook "lemon potatoes", I also add one or two garlic cloves and some orange juice. Other people add a bit of mustard or additional herbs apart from oregano. One could experiment with those extra ingredients to see what suits their personal taste. But, when cooking greek recipes, never forget: simplicity and quality!
Yia sou Petro. Thanks so much. It’s so true about Greek cuisine. It’s always been my mission to really pay tribute to our delicious food and share with the world how important the quality of ingredients is. Kali xronia !
This is a Mediterranean dish... I also very common in Portugal, Spain and Italy. This lemon, olive oil garlic combo is so good, we call it "salmoriglio". Some variations include salt, oregano, mint, parsley, pepper... It's an accident recipe originated in Sicilia and went popular in Mediterranean cultures many centuries ago, it can be used as a dressing or a marinade.
20 years ago as a teenager going into culinary arts I had the biggest hots for Christine Cushing I think on the food network, I’m glad she still makes cooking videos. Beautiful chef

Christine, you are absolutely right about this dish and Greek food in general. It is comfort food for the mind and body. Greece is the most special place, in the world.
Thank you Ms Cushing. I made a moussaka according to your father's instructions yesterday. It was perfect. Vegetables in England tend to be 'watery', but your father's trick of baking the vegetable components ensured that all was rich, scented and utterly Hellenic! Thank you again. Best wishes Philip

I think I will make this with salmon tonight. OK, I made it. So here are a few observations; 1: Be sure the potatoes are fully cooked first. 2. It takes some time to get the proper browning in the oven. A little higher oven temperature might be helpful. 3. Don't start the salmon until you see browning on the potatoes - salmon does not take a long time to cook. Nor the asparagus that I added for greens. 4. Be generous with the olive oil and lemon and the oregano - there will be some left in the pan - keep it for toast tomorrow morning - YUM!! All in all - delicious!! I will make this again. Thanks Christine!
What a great woman, not pretentious at all. Never even considered combining potatoes with lemons, but her recipe looked so great I will try this today.

I'm part Greek as well like the Garlic addition but I add parsley to be oregano's friend 😉

Fabulous.. Made these with half potato and half sweet potato.. Amazing. Thanks for sharing ☺️
I tried this lemon potatoes recipe with really high quality skirt steak, pita bread and cheesy spinach and there was not a spoonful left! I went light on the oregano because I’m not used to using as much as this wonderful chef but next time I think I will add a little more. Superb! Thank you!
