I had bought a serial port SD card reader with Dreamshell a while back but never got around to using it, recently saw that it may be possible to run these on my DC using it, my word does it run all of these Atomiswave games beautifully! Great video, and nice to see the Dreamcast have some life left in it!😎
I was having the same issue. I reformatted the sd card many times and to no avail. When I researched games freezing or restarting on dreamcast, i saw that if you remove the psu, clean the pins, add flux, and then let solder flow down the pins it will alleviate the issue. Since I did that, all the games run perfect with no problems.
It looks like the connector on the bottom of that cartridge would fit into the connector that the GD-ROM/GDemu/MODE connects to on the Dreamcast. I'm not sure that square cartridge would fit in the Dreamcast's shell but I'd be very curious to see what would happen if one attempted to run the cartridge on the Dreamcast.
Thanks for the vid. I've always been curious about this hardware, but especially lately since the news of the games being converted and playable on the DC hardware.
My pleasure, and thanks for watching! It's a great set of games, and I think it was my sd card that caused the freezing. Again, thanks a lot for watching 🙏
@@GamersOverdriveRetroMode could be, but I really couldn't tell ya lol. I haven't dove into this project yet enough to know. I would love for these games to eventually be put on disc with artwork and the whole 9 yards, and no gameplay issues. That would be awesome 😎
I had a lot of issues originally, then ended up wiping my SD card & reloading fresh copies of the games. Everything works fine now except MS6 still freezes for me occasionally, I put it down to an issue with the game itself rather than the hardware.
I like to believe atomiswave games would've been dreamcast releases if it had lasted through the 6th gen. feels like a hidden library of dc games...some great ones too.
Either clean the pins on the power supply connect to or try a sdhc sd card. The Gdemu doesn't officially support sdxc sd cards. Using the wrong type sd card might cause freezing or crashing during gameplay.
I wonder have you fixed already the crashing issues?Oh,indeed the Retro Fighters DC Striker is a neat Controller for the lovely Dreamcast!I got mine in green&will try to buy another;-)Thanks for the Videos, just captured you a few weeks ago😊
Got this (complete Atomiswave games library) on my modded Dreamcast inside my homemade arcade cabinet, I plan to upload a vid soon when I can get a break from work. Edit: don't forget the turbo fire mode on your Retrofighter for Dolphin Blue 👍👍
Those carts are just a mod/hack converted from a Gdrom toaHarddrive which was modified to an Epsom chipset (Burn to a chip instead of Cd/Gd Rom /Hardisk).! Have fun Enjoy the games
The style and presentation of your videos are awesome! I enjoyed watching this video. I've just recently been fortunate enough to pickup a Sammy Atomiswave motherboard with genuine games: SS6, Demolish Fist, and Knights of Valour. Unfortunately, the Metal Slug 6 I received is fake :( so I still need to get hold of a copy of that...but the prices are astronomical!! Anyway, I've just discovered your channel...so just subscribed :)
You made my day! Thank you very much for watching and I'm glad you enjoy the channel! The Atomiswave in this video was lent to me by Yosi Behar of the Behar Bros. I was so glad to be able to play with the authentic board. Good luck in your collecting!
So this is only possible because of the hardware in the Gdemu or Mode? I mean is it possible to burn the actual game + whatever is required to run it on Dreamcast on a blank CD and play them that way on a Dreamcast that does not have Gdemu or Mode?
@@GamersOverdriveRetroMode Just did some more in depth research (which I should have done beforehand duh) and yes it is technically possible. Unfortunately it is very early days and the support is far from ideal. Apparently some games might work that way eventually without downsides while others might never work. This is due to the fact that the original games read the data from the cartridge, which offers higher data transfer speeds than a CD/GDR. Will keep an eye on the status but as long as I can play Dolphin Blue one day I'll be content! Thanks for the video btw ^^
A couple of games were crashing when he first ported them over but he fixed them i dont think metal slug was one of them games that froze is it happening on every game ? If so it could be your power suply unit
It has happened so far on almost every game I've tried. Any idea what I should do about the psu? Should I clean it? (it's just a few months old though...) 🤔

so all the arcade games can play them on dreamcast! really nice! ❤️
most of them are ports anyway so yeah.
worth also noting that the sidways swirl logo also features A and W shapes contained within it. So it's a clever wee thing.
Definitely! Kicked myself for not mentioning that too. Thanks for watching!

Heard about Atomiswave for a few years now but never really dug into it. Dolphin Blue looks awesome!
Yeah man, very fun game. Can't wait to play through it without the freezing!

you have to defrag your SD card that is high quality for GDEmu for no freezes. MODE is much more forgiving.
I had a lot of issues originally, then ended up wiping my SD card & reloading fresh copies of the games. Everything works fine now except MS6 still freezes for me occasionally, I put it down to an issue with the game itself rather than the hardware.

😂My pleasure! Enjoy that modded Dreamcast my friend.

Interesting... I think the socket on the atomiswave looks fairly similar if not the same to the socket where the GDRom drive on the dreamcast sits.

Greetings from Brazil!
I love Sega Dreamcast!
I have it on my hyperspin. Dolphin Blues my favorite on Sammy Atomswave
Man I've gotta get it working properly...can't wait to play all the way through it.
If not modded with the gdemu can these games be ran from a disc?
I've learned from the comments that it is possible, but the disc speed is currently a limitation that hasn't been worked around yet.

Gdemu its fixed in a newer version
You can play these on CD-r but some games stutter as it is always loading.. SD card will need a defrag to allow better and quicker data access.

They can also be burned to a cd from what I have heard. I haven't tried it myself but I'm pretty sure you can.

Defeats the purpose really. Just might as well emulate atomiswave games directly in that case...

look at Sega Lord x's video he explains an option to help with the game crashes

Love this reply,
got the same gdemu and i dont get that problems tbh...game run fine
might be my sd card 🤔
