"Rock the Dragon" is incredibly fitting, given the ancient dragons were made of rock. Also Placidusax is a ball of dragon heads wrapped around each other, making him a literal Dragon Ball.
Whats my favorite move about him is when he uses his Dual Laser beams grinding away everything in front of him during his 'Third Phase' making you feel like your in a Michael Bay movie when explosions happen and your supposed to run away cus damn that light show spectacle is peak Fromsoft.
I loved it when he does the lightning storm animation like he does in the previous two phases only for him to go right into his teleporting dive while you're busy dodging his lightning. I laughed when I saw it the first time and went "you cheeky bastard, you set me up!"
The lasers ended so many perfect round against him because I stubbornly tried to run through them to get an attack advantage and you should really just run away. Far away
amazing fight. The intro with the beams was my highlight :D Sadly my favorite attack wasn’t covered. Where he lays back, lights a cigar, slowly pulls out the big red spear from who knows where, sticks it in the ground and casually nukes half of the ducking arena in the probably biggest explosion the game has to offer. Just such a cool fight
0:02 Welcome back to Farum Azula 0:04 Here we have a platforming section towards a secret boss of this area. Miyazaki keeps on dreaming of making his own Mario. 0:09 You enter the arena where you fight the Boss by laying down on this floor and letting yourself be swallowed by this raging tornado as everything is reconstructed around you. 0:16 And this is your nightmare for tonight. Dragonlord Placidusax. LORE TIME: Placidusax is ancient lord of Dragons. At some point he was far more complete with more heads and tails. He was a mighty ruler of Dragons who was sitting in Farum Azula. Until one day his God decided to leave and Placidusax remained at the heart of this storm waiting for them to come back... Now there a lot of speculations about what happened to him and Farum Azula. My personal one is that Farum Azula at some point was hit by the comet that was falling towards Lands Between and what was in it heavily wounded Placidusax, making him into what we see here. What was that? That's for later. But the end of the story is that Placidusax now remains in this broken state there. And those Gold Beams he spews are also a spell you can make out of his remembrance. They are called "Placidusax's Ruin" which to me implies that those beams are not in fact something natural to Placidusax, but something that brought ruin upon. Being infected by Gold that he new spews, his own ruin which would also fit with the previous Big Dragon boss made by Fromsoft back in Dark Souls 3 was infected with dark of the Abyss and here this Dragon could be infected with beautiful Gold. But that's my theory. This event also must have happened a VERY long time ago since as far as everyone rememberes, Farum Azula was always crumbling. But this Comet and what it had inside could shed some light on why that is. But again, more on that later. 0:20 Placi has a very "fun" mechanic of shooting lightning everywhere around him. Because screw you. 0:25 And his heads have the ability to fire breath behind him so you are not safe there. 0:28 Honestly happened to me too. My advice? Run when that happens and have your dodge game be on point. His sweeps in this state REALLY hurt. 0:50 Maybe summon Gordon Ramsay. 1:04 The only attack that I feel is missing is Placi's giant Red Thunder he smashes into the ground, all music stops and you have only few seconds to run before you are nuked. Pretty damn spectacular attack if you ask me. 1:10 No dreams. Only memes... Also you may ask yourself "Why would you subject yourself to it?". Well there are two reasons. First one being that beating him gives you achievement so you better do it if you want Platinum. And the other is that there is a way to lock yourself into a bad ending (or some would say based ending) in this game and the only way to get out of it is to use an item you get at the end of certain questline in the arena you fight Placidusax. It also is useful if you are going to do all endings on the first playthrough by beating final boss, teleporting away, making backup save, healing this and do your thing and then restore the save to get other one. Worked like a charm for me.
The 20th century fox thing gets me every time and the animation with it too. Every time I fight that guy now it’s all I hear in my head when he does the lasers.
