I mean, Maliketh is way easier than the beast clergyman. Attacks easier to dodge, more telegraphed, and best of all, you can parry him which gives a huge opening for massive damage. Plus he is more fun so I would like that way more than two phases

When he's cycling through his inventory for his healing flask and misses it... the struggle is real
Just hold the d pad broski. Unless u have the 1st slot bound to something else
Exactly what Johnny said. Also, use the four extra slots for seldomly used items. Like the lantern doesn´t need to be combat-ready, but you want it accessable.
Generally put only what you need on the quickslots and swap in stuff that is temporrarily useful. A messy quick slot array defeats the literal purpose of the thing - being quick and easy to navigate ! Been there, done that. SInce I order my slots better I have had zero troubles, even in stressful situations like that.
Put things you need instantly (health pots, throwing daggers, etc) on the dpad, not the rotating gear slots. Way too slow.
@@murphieslaw6932 I haven't used item slots for anything other than estus since Dark Souls 1. There are no other items I need to use midfight so badly that it's worth accidentally using the wrong thing when I want to heal.
The hold button menu finally gave me a way to use more than hp/fp refilling items.
@@murphieslaw6932 I like setting lanterns and summons and such to the other quick menu. I think it's holding Triangle and then hitting a direction. makes it an easy press that after awhile is just second nature when it's needed.
Unrealistic, he didn't fall into the pit at the entrance 30 times trying to anticipate Maliketh's moves.
And Maliketh didnt wind up clipping into one of the pillars that he likes to swing from like hes god damn donkey kong and get a free teleport reset back to the center of the arena.
He also didn't get hit by the knight outside through the fog wall at the start of the match

@@adamH.1 Yeah, I'll kill it eventually. After dying a few times to it my impatience got the better of me and I wanted to see which of the bosses I have heard so much about was behind that fog. Oddly enough, it wasn't a boss I have ever heard about before. I probably would have killed it by now but got distracted by the Halig Tree. I'll get that knight later.

Maliketh is an amazing boss, thematically, aesthetically, and lore-wise.
he deserves his own hp bar in 2nd phase, it's just too short when you understand how to dodge aftershock attacks
To be honest, for me maliketh was the hardest boss fight. It made me more trouble than Milenia

Infact, it and Fire Giant are the only bosses I am ever summoned for. They are poorly designed spam turrets for melee builds.

I remember renting SNES games well into the lifecycle of the N64 at 11 or 12 years old recognizing that gaming had somewhat of a peak (at the time) the years prior, and not until very late N64 and onto GC did it all feel like it was back up to par. I went back around 18 with emulators and played a bunch of great games I never knew existed with cool mechanics that were all from the SNES era. It was a very, very special time for gaming, I assure you.

I went from “Wait…!” to “Was that…!?” to “Holy shit it was!” and finishing with a “Nice!!!” while watching that sequence of suspense play out 😆
Especially since the Mimic Tear did the exact same thing it did when he fought it as a boss.

You know he’s done maliketh so much that he perfectly animated the start of his phase 2 move set.
The camera movement of this episode is simply amazing.

0:09 At the start of the battle, there's a special dialogue if you've given Gurranq all 9 Deathroot. He remembers you and asks why you would betray him, but still fights you to protect Destined Death.
Meaning he's not ungrateful for the Death root, but you're still a scheming little thief trying to kill him for his loot.
This feels like the perfect description of the main character
"Tarnished... Why wouldst thou... Why?"
Patches wasn't wrong. Morgott describes us as "Pillagers" emboldened by ambition. We want to be Lord and will destroy order itself to get it.
"O' Death, become my blade once more" never fails to give me chills. Although, I was kinda hoping to see Carbot use the Blasphemous Claw. Made me feel like a badass when i parried Maliketh with it.
To be fair. A lot of people don't use it.... Hell, I suck at parrying anyway. So even when I do have it in a playthrough.... I never use it.
It makes more sense if he had it on his side and just forgot to use it since that's what happens with most people😂

Love it. The Megaman portrayal, the character growth of the tarnished, the extra effort put into the attack animations and slicing them up. A lot of work and creativity went into this one! 55 in and not cutting any corners!

BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! The references, the brutality of Maliketh, the Beast clergy man throwing away the deathroot gift because "FUCK YOU! I wanted those in the past/future, not today!" the MMX general theme, and the WICKED COOL strategy the Guy used to beat him.... It was so heroic. I still remember the first episodes where he was so clueless. amazing.
MMX games were my fav growing up, and Souls games are my fav now. Seeing this just filled me with so much joy!

This bosses ability to just fly through the air was such a pain.
The megaman boss fight was perfect even the death animation never know what to expect but I am always excited when a new carbot animation drops. The power up part at the end too

@@gmualum08 seriously. I actually beat Maliketh(and Placi) on my first try though I was pretty overleveled. But when I got to Mal I got destroyed like 30 times. Eventually had to summon to beat her.

2. Directly into the pit right next to the entrance

Imagine not killing the Dragon Sentinel before Maliketh. You deserve to get hit by him through the fog gate.
Hence why I get out of that little entry platform ASAP at the start of the fight. If you need to set up, the safest place to do that is behind a pillar.

0:06 Here is the boss of this location. Beast Clergyman who you met already in Caelid who disappeared if you gave him enough Deathroots. It is quite a sad moment for some people because if you did the Deathroot sidequest he recognizes you and sounds like he feels betrayed. Which we will get to in a bit.

0:16 Honestly with how wild he is in this phase I would say he is more of a pain than his second phase. It's so damn wild and it's hard to even see half the time what he is doing.
0:27 Once you get his health low enough you will get a second phase.

0:34 Maliketh the Black Blade. A brother to Marika. Her shadow.
Before the creation of Elden Ring there was death in the world. Death controlled and exploited by the leader of Godskin called Dusk Eyed Queen. Godskin killed many Gods and wore their skin as their clothes. Dusk Eyed Queen, their leader was a Empyrean and a rival to Marika over being a new God of Lands Between. Marika then send forth him to beat them. Maliketh even before gaining the power of the Rune of Death was able to beat all of them and as Dusk Eyed Queen was beaten, the rune of death was taken from order of the world and so the Golden Order came to be. A new order. Golden Order. Maliketh was given the Rune of Death which he sealed in his blade and protected it. Until part of it was stolen by daughter of Radagon and Rennala, Ranni. Ranni stole it and gave it's power to the Black Blade Assassins that proceeded to murder many Demigods with Godwyn being their most devastating target which caused Marika to go into despair and break the Elden Ring. Maliketh after this was send to the Farum Azula where he would protect the remaining part, forever in shame over what he did. Over the betrayal of not only Ranni, but Marika herself who used him as nothing more than a tool to seal away Destined Death. And now you are there, another person to betray him, but he will fulfill his purpose and do what was asked of him. It is his duty to the one he cares for more than any other. There is no choice for him here. Only fulfilling of his now senseless duty as the world now is completely broken. As broken as he is now. A blade with a fatal crack in it and is about to break.
0:38 Maliketh is VERY agile fighter. Honestly he has some of the best move set in the entire game with how he jumps around and attacks. If you want advice. You can fight an NPC Bernahl in Farum Azula who gives you the Blasphemous Claw. A claw given to Rykard by Ranni so he can protect himself against Maliketh which could a proof of Rykard having some kind of connection to night of the black blades and Godwyn's death. Enough of a part to put himself as a target not only for Morgott who attacked him with his armies, but for Maliketh to want to kill him. Which as you can see here he probably would. Oh wait. The claw right. Basically that item works like that if you use it when Maliketh's blade glows with gold light you can parry him and deal some big damage to him.
0:46 Here is a moment when I think it would happen, but there is no gold light animated here. It often is at the end of his combos.
0:50 Another quirk of his is that he will put on you a flame that will not only gradually eat your health, but also lower your maximum health so your dodge game better be on point in this fight or you will have a bad time. Also once you die your health will not fully regenerate if it happened so you have to sit at site of grace and then move there if you don't want to waste a flask. Annoying. Also you BETTER take care of the Dragon Knight that stands as a guard to this boss. Will save you headaches.
0:56 And yes. He does have Vergill attacks too. Fromsoft for some reason really enjoy putting them in.

1:08 Don't remember now, but I think his projectile attacks don't go through walls. But I could be wrong.
1:21 Actually pretty clever. And summons as a whole can really trivialize so many bosses. Especially mimic tear. AI just can't handle it.
1:28 This is honestly my only issue with this fight. Besides the run up if you did not kill the knight. He has too little health, it's such a good fight and I want more of it. The same problem Morgott has. For some reason From just wants you to quickly get over their best fights, but of course gives so much health to the most infuriating fucking-.... No... We will get there. Oh we will.
1:43 The sword you can build from Remembrance of Maliketh is honestly a very fun large weapon. And the incantation is very good too. I like both and I think this is one of the Remembrances that you want to copy at one of those walking mausoleums.

Started playing Elden Ring just when your first ep came out and today I beat the final boss and became Elden Lord lol. Had breaks here and there becuz I was distracted but overall this game was amazing to play for a year and also loved all your videos!!

Nonsense, as a caster the _first stage_ is a cakewalk with the ol' kamehameazur, but the _second stage_ is a total nightmare
Zippin' around all over the place at the speed of light, not two seconds to breathe never mind let off a spell, and if you do somehow manage to fire off something, either he zips out of the miniscule range, or the tracking just shits the bed
Even Rennala's full moon aka "heat seeking missile" can't keep up, I hated this fight

Imagine if they added a more lore accurate mechanic to him that made it to where if you died to his death blade specifically or one of the black blade assassins, it actually resulted in Perma death and you had to start the entire game over again from scratch
The accuracy to how the fight actually feels in these animations is unreal. Absolute gold! Good show sir.
I love this storyboard animation brought to life; I can't describe it any other way, I want to be an artist, and all of this slaps in the face of trying to render my imagination subsequently into animation and welp... this is greater than full-budget animation, I love it.
