This you tube explosion is great stuff, brings in lots of work and hopefully extra income. The only issue is that if you have a popular channel, you can’t work on the side anymore. When you sign on and they ask “Have you done any work lately?” “No” you say then the laptop comes out whoops! 😂😂😂. Boss channel though 👍👍👍
Great job guys .. it’s crazy just to lay bricks on top of the window .. I did plenty windows without lintel though in Belgium years ago but it requires a minimum 1 to 3,5 mortar mix and a soldier course above the window strengthened with some murfor in a couple of bed joints .. nowadays always have lintels or some special metal reinforcements placed in the joints … cheers guys !!
How do those sort of so called traders sleep at night doing dodgy work like that? They are an absolute disgrace to the trade. Well done to you Steve and Alex for doing a splendid job 👏
well said Alex about the date people and I hope you are taking that lead away and i bet the previous person charged them loads for that lead ,thanks for the video
A great job - as ever. Sha.e about that 3:1 cement mortar. I noticed however that in terms of support you lost a lot of strength by not using the bottom strongboys the wrong way up. The gusset and angle are crucial elements to take the load between strut and wall.
I could see that it was pretty solid and I did wonder whether you'd just put the props onto a couple of scaffold boards. As they were any real load on the props would only be resisted by the two courses of brick under the windows as the strongboy tongues rocked upwards. That's if the props didn't just slide off them. Anyway you left a neat tidy repair that as usual looked like you'd never been there. I imagine you could probably do nothing but lintels given your quality and reputation.
Nice tidy result as per usual. However I too have an issue with the your use of the bottom strongboy. The stability of the device, in my view, 45 years in the trade and an experienced user of these things, greatly relies on the head plate taking load and transferring that load to the prop. That said when the bottom s/b is in the bed joint held in place by couple of courses of brick and the window frame above it my concern is for the potential of the bricks to uplift due to the leverage action being applied and transferring not to a prop but back to the wall. It’s difficult to explain but I offer this opinion with my full respect for the way you operate and in the spirit of wishing to enjoy your output well into the future.
Nice tidy job as always. Would have liked to see how you mixed that sand lime mortar and what the ratios are and do you do it by hand seeing as how it's a small amount? Cheers 👍
Presume it was built without lintels to start with ? Was that typical of the era ? Not trying to find fault but did the top of the frames need sealing ?
Good evening Chaps, I am assuming that this "bodgery" was the handiwork of the window fitters.? On a slightly different note now. I know us ex-Brickies from the 1960`s and 1970`s could pull a few strokes and do "dodgy." And some of the stuff that you have found in your videos definitely should be called out as rather suspect or, indeed shocking. But, in fifty or sixty years time I wonder what "shockers" will be found on our modern day new builds....?? Lightweight trench blocks crumbling? Silo mortar failing? Insulation boards turning to dust in the cavities......to name but a few. 🤓🤓🙄😮🤔🧱🧱🙄👍🔨
You can always tell quality work when it looks like you have never been…….awesome.
Cheers 🙌🏽🧱👍🏽
Led.. lintel.. probably somehow got confused between the two.. laughs nervously* great job lads, teach these cowboys how it’s done. 👍

We didn’t need to prop at all the wall was solid 🧱👍🏽

6 1 1 . We mix with paddle mixer for small mixes 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild sorry to be a nuisance I'm not a builder. Is that 6 builder's sand 1 lime or I don't know what is it please?
@@Ricky-gu6xn 6:parts sand. 1: part Lime and 1:part cement.
@@martin2466 fantastic, thank you 👍
@Ricky-gu6xn 6 sand
1 cement 1 lime 🧱👍🏽
Should get your selfs a sds scutch chisel for when mortars hard on the bricks cleans off much easier

Nice tidy consciousness job as always👍. Why not 2 three quarters in the bottom course to elevate the half?
We were happy with how it went 👍🏽🧱

We always seal unless the windows are being replaced 🧱👍🏽

I am sure my nearly new house had!! Brick Bond and Brookbond as brikies. Nothing in line!!

How the F do they get away with that crap having said that ya get it with all trades.......S&A to the rescue AGAIN

Nice job, one lintel will be stronger also. Bet you didn’t learn how to fill those joints on a cowboy video. lol.
😆😆🧱👍🏽
Looks great as usual lads, whats the latest on the hip op Steve? 🤔
Nothing till next year 😔
What’s the name of the catchy music at the start ?
Not sure Michael.
Its royalty free music from Epidemic sound 🧱👍🏽
Why did you not put lintels it looks good but windows shouldn't be built on that's why it failed 😮
That doesn’t make sense 😐

All very true 😬🧱👍🏽
@martin2466 😆😍😍🧱👍🏽
Put your 50mm sds chisel in your Masonary SDS to clean the bricks, will chip off lovely.
Great vid and work as usual Gents . 👍
Thanks once again the pair of you for another episode of the lintel vortex 😂 another one done 50 or so on that road left to do😮
