this whole reading without the vowels thing is the story of my life, my parents are arabs and migrated to a non arabic country where I was born, so arabic is not my first language. My mom taught me to read arabic but not to speak it, so I read but don't even know what I'm saying. One time she showed me a text without the vowels and she was like "come on read it". I said "I can't there's no vowels", and she was like "come on, do it! I believe in you!" I was like "what do you mean you believe in me! How am I supposed to do that?!" "Just GUESS the vowels!!" "What do you mean guess the vowels!!" "Deep down you know!! JUST USE YOUR INSTINCT!!" "DEEP DOWN WHERE?! WHAT INSTINCT?!!" "THE VOWELS ARE IN YOUR *HEART* !!!! "WHAAAaaT😭??!!" "IT'S IN YUOR BLOD!! *INCOHERENT SCREAMING* *INCOHERENT CRYING*
Man you’re telling my story. I’m one of those Americans that went to Egypt and became fluent in Arabic but I think I would have cut my struggles in half if I joined a program like yours from the beginning. You get it Mashallah.
I feel like it’s taking a lifetime to learn arabic. I’m currently taking classes and have been now for years 🤦🏽♀️… I love arabic and will not give up. Pray for me. I really appreciate your content. I will work on increasing my vocabulary ❤
JazaakAllahoeghair. It's clear to me that I need to expand my vocabulary. May Allah reward you with sadaqatun jaariyah for producing these videos and performing your ongoing work to teach arabic☺️
Maa Shaa Allah! I Watched the videos from Zero to fluent without visiting an Arab country. Quite inspiring indeed. And I look forward to join the program Inshaa'-Allah. Baarakallahi fiikum for a great service to Muslims and humanity as a whole. May Allah reward you abundantly fii Dunya wal Aakhirah. Ameen
1st paragraph was easy to read and understand. 2nd and 3rd paragraphs were nearly impossible. Great way to make your point and it makes complete sense. Glad to see you provide a simple (not easy) solution that's practical and not some "magical" fix. Just gotta put in the time and effort in the right places.
wow you are so correct even as a non native English speaker the first text you showed i read half way through and then realized. Hey! the spellings are not correct but i struggled with the last two examples you showed.
I know how to read arabic without harakat but my husband asked how is it possible for you to read it without harakat, I didn't know how to answer, I will show him this in shaa Allah.
Flew through the first text. Struggled with the second text. It's been 13 years since I studied in Egypt, my Arabic is always rusty until I've spent a day or so speaking it.
Assalamu alaikum I've been learning Arabic to read the Quaran as a revert, it's coming along well but I've been trying to practice when I go shopping etc to read all the various instructions on the pack! I knew there was a reason I couldn't figure out the pronunciation properly without fatha/dumma/kasra etc - thanks for your videos!
I understood the first text and not the last 2 text I didn’t understand them properly. Jazakallahu khayr for letting me know the reason why I cannot read all words without Harakat becoz I was really thinking what’s the skill.
2:17 Text reads: "It doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important is that the first and last letters are in the right places. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole." Took me half a minute to figure out. I don't know how the other two lol.
Shukran brother for that explanation it was humorous, I didn't have any problems with the two videos, it basically comes down to just being really familiar with the language no matter how misspelled or extra letters are added, lol The same goes true for Arabs, Hispanics, they are able to do the same if you jumble up their language. I would like to say that while obtaining more vocabulary is essential, knowing grammar and how the words are formed and change forms within sentences, verb vs nouns, possessive cases etc are vitally important because mentally one should be able to articulate the sentences out loud or silently to oneself, that would be reading and truly understanding what you're reading. Simply knowing the vocabulary is not enough because a person would still be lost without a proper understanding of grammar and it rules. Shukran for sharing, may Allah (swt) reward you for your hard work.
That was hilarious masha Allah lol. We have to have a sense of humor in our adab with one another, it makes it easier and creates or stimulates the urge to investigate further.
Wow this made total sense !! Like I have taken Arabic courses but they don’t really focus on vocabulary … Mainly how to connect the letters and that part was so easy for me. I know the beginning middle and ending shapes, I know what letters don’t ever connect on left and are just supposed to be alone. BUT THE VOCABULARY PART IS SERIOUSLY RIGHT ON POINT THIS IS DEFINITELY THE PROBLEM !! I learned so much from this video and I understand all three of the texts no matter how out of place they were!! So this has got to be my issue seriously thanks so much !! 💁🏻♀️🙏💯
so basically you can't learn Arabic from reading. cuz to learn new words from reading, you need to be able to read them without knowing them beforehand. but here you have to first know the word in order to read it.
This video is so helpful..... Thank you very much. And to be honest, I read the first text very well .......but the second one was so challenging to me, I just couldn't read it
It doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole

The second example of scrambled sentence I needed to stop and think about the word before I worked out it was manslaughter otherwise the rest of it was pretty quick for me to work out but i definitely understand what you mean about the way our minds read
جزاك الله خيرا push yourself, may Allaah grant us tawfeeq. Try read a short but sweet tafseer like tafseer al si’di. It has no harakaat. Its true what he mentioned. U gotta know ur vocab, and take an immersive approach to arabic. Seeking ilm? Take from arabic ulama but w english subtitles. Read Quran w english tafseer. Listen to arabic even if u dont understand. U absorb like a kid. So with harakaat: you gotta know grammar n rules and vocab yes, but also be surrounded by arabic and u just pick up the words and u start guessing. Sometimes u start reading eg tafseer al sa3di and u are contantly googling every 3rd word u read. Thats a part of the process for some maybe. So while researching u find other conkugations of this word and u build vocab. Scholarly Subtitles is a good youtube channel
u end up learning new words by context. Eg tafseer al sadi u found a new adjectuve and u never found it ebfore. But the author gives synonyms and u wnd up learning it with arabic each word for me has its own impact, form and meaning. yes مضى and جرى can be similar in meaning but with maDHaa i imagine stuff that has gone by in teh past, something that has now occured, and moved on and by me into the past. with Jaraa, I imagine water flowing (which is part of its meaning in some contexts) and stuff happening and going by into the past like water flowing So read this tafseer in context and إن شاء الله each word will mean something to you how it is supposed to mean. may Allaah make arabic easy for those mumineen learning it and grant each of us ikhlaas and protect us from all evil
If people think reading arabic without harakaat is hard, then let them try to read a text without dots of the letters because that was the early arabic 😅
"Big council tax increases this year have squeezes tge incomes of many pensioners." (First try) "A doctor has admitted the ...(what?!)... Of a teenage cancer patient who died after a hospital drug blunder." There are features of English that make this very possible and even easy while other languages maybe just can't read word scrambles, and it's not a percect analog for the point you're making, but it is a pretty good attempt at describing the problem.
