Netflix has more or less the entire Criterion Collection on DVD. I'm just more than halfway through the nearly 1,000 titles. I can't imagine being without this resource.
It's worth it for me, even with the Blu-ray option for 2 discs out at a time. I can get at least 8 movies a month for $16 compared to renting those same movies on a streaming service for $3-$4. There were only two movies I wanted that they didn't have but they still have a very wide selection.
Omg this is they best thing popping for movie lovers, could you imagine how many people would cancel their streaming service if they knew they can rent all these movies
Each is separate and arrives in its own Tyvek sleeve & paper mailer. Just like the old rental store, but without the fancy plastic BOX with pictures on it! ☺
NO. See my longer comment, but I was getting two or even three per week until they shut down the distribution center 90 miles from me and now it goes 600 miles. I still get one in 4-6 days, so easily one per week no matter where you are or how slow the mail is!
$11.99 for 2 DVDs seems like an absurd cost! That's more than the cost of 2 of my subscription services. I'm sorry, but I cannot rationalize that at all.
@@ThriftyAV I realize that and for you it might be worth it based on your wants/needs, like you said for obscure media for example. But for the vast majority of people who watch current and mainstream content, I just cannot see the rationale behind that when you can stream to your hearts content for less money in most cases. BTW - Just found your channel the other day which earned you a new sub. Keep up the great content, it's thoroughly enjoyable.
@@JeffCD77 idk what subscription your getting for less than $10-$15 a month. The main thing is DVD has a way wider variety because it has more types of movies that arnt split between 5 different services
I tried cancelling my DVD Plan but it won't let me. can someone help me figure this out. whenever I select the cancel DVD Plan it always pops up (THIS PAGE NOT FOUND) I mean come on.. this is a fucking rip off. Haven't received any dvd's its been 7 months nothing is in my mail but it keeps charging $12.99 every month. Like WTF is going on😞 plus the $19.99 for streaming. SMFH
Because your public library likely doesn't have 100,000 title availble. And won't ship them to your home mailbox, and you have to drive them back to the library.
Netflix has not release an official number of titles available for rent, so the 100K estimate is speculative, and the article I used for reference is dated 2019. Older titles with limited copies that are damaged, lost, or not returned will probably not be replaced, reducing inventory, but new titles are added with new video releases, usually sooner than the movies are available on streaming (Reason #6?). I would be interested in your source that Netflix DVD inventory has declined.

It is usually over 400.

Well it's over in 2 months
I would sign up if they offered UHD 4K DVD's.

that's cool I knew I remembered that netflix use to do dvds. cause my friend used to do it way back in like 2014.
I had DVD netflix by mail in 2005 when it very first was getting going !! 😎😎😎

I might use this
Is there a free trail?
Yes. One month, I believe. I cancelled the day before the free trial expired, so I did not pay any money for this experiment!
Wait.. so do they put all of the movies, all in one dvd?? Or is it just like separate? 🤔

Is mailing too slow lately to get a DVD once a week?
I was averaging twice a week per subscribed DVD. In other words, I was signed up for 2 at a time, and I was getting about 4 movies per week.

$11.99 gets you 2 DVDs out at a time for a month... how many you get in a month depends on how quick you can turn them around in the mail.

The blu rays are 4k?
Netflix offers 1080p Blu-ray. If I said otherwise in this video, that was an error on my part.

CALL THEM. You have to get a 'code' at the bottom of your queue page.
When will Netflix stop doing dvds
September
I get DVDs free from the public library. Why would I pay for this?
For variety, perhaps. And as far as "paying", if you cancel before the free month ends, you pay nothing.

Are there really still 100,000 titles? I have read elsewhere that the number has declined precipitously.

You think I feel bad about copying DVD's? The government steals our money every week.
