Is Ellie's happiness too much to ask for?!?! *The Last of Us* ~ Ep 7 Reaction

- And just like that, we're depressed again!! At least this time, I saw it coming from a mile away. Still tragic and traumatizing. Do you think there'd still be therapists at this point?? I hope so. Ellie needs it desperately. And so do I, after witnessing everything thus far. Even so, I love me a solid queer romance. No one does it like them!!
If Ellie's gay yearning hit a little too close to home, give this video a like, respectfully comment your thoughts (no spoilers or you're LAME!) and as always, SUBSCRIBE!!! Or don't. I can't make you. :)

I hated that people did not like Bella Ramsey as Ellie, I waited for the show to start to see how good she is and she is amazing as a live action Ellie and I was not sold on Pedro Pascal until the show started and he is amazing as Joel.
Not just that. She came out as non-binary about a month before the premiere which kicked off a whole new wave of reactionary hate.
I felt so bad for her, she’s a great actress. I hope she didn’t dive to deep into the comments people were writing.
We loved her in Game of Thrones and she is killing it as Bella.
People don't like Bella as Ellie because she looks *nothing* like Ellie. Like, *nothing...* Yes, I agree that her acting as Ellie is very good in terms of portraying her inner character and emotions (her voice is pretty off though), however, the looks (and the voice to a lesser extent) pretty much ruin it for me, personally, despite how good the acting itself is. In comparison, Pedro looks like Joel way more than Bella looks like Ellie, and Pedro also *completely nailed* the voice of Joel.
@@arcticwolf6402 grow up
I thought that Bella didn't look much like Ellie from the game, but I also felt like that was one of the least important parts of the casting. Nailing Ellie's personality is REALLY important and takes a LOT of good acting. Think about all the things you said about Ellie the character... Bella brought those things to life. We felt those same things in the game too.
Bella is an absolutely amazing Ellie. Also, she has the look of gay longing DOWN, lol.
Im so clueless…i thought she was just admiring riley as an older friend to look up to 😂
And to think that night at the mall with Riley was only 3 weeks before she met Joel.
YES it's heartbreaking
17:00 The panicked, "let's go lesbians" in the background is killing me 😂😂😂 I lost it 😭
I don't normally like little clips and memes in the reactions but you use them well and it works, so well done
Bella's acting in this episode was phenomenal, if she's not nominated for an award for this, I'll be a tad miffed
You cut the attack with Billy on The Street. I'm dead!
Great episode, in addition to immense character depth for Ellie, there was also a lot to learn and connect.
Mileena's finisher was already a topic in episode 3 when Ellie and Joel found the non-working MK machine. Then she told Joel that she once had a friend who knew everything about it and she described to him how Mileena sucks up and spits out her opponent.
You payed attention, the episode shows you how the story with Ellie and Riley ends. They don't have to show that explicitly.
Riley played Mileena in MK2 and Ellie played Baraka (last game).
Baraka skewered Mileena with his blades as finisher. That was the metaphorical endgame. I think that's how Ellie killed Runner-Riley.
That's why Ellie asked Joel in episode 2 what it was like for him to kill an infected, knowing that they once were human. I think she needed a comparison to her own feelings because she couldn't classify them. That's why she tortured and stabbed the stalker with her knife in episode 3. She first wanted to see if he felt something and then the anger broke through and she killed him because an infected bit Riley.
Ellie kills Riley and because Riley didn't get in touch with Marlene the next day, she showed up at the mall and saw and took Ellie with her. She has prevented Ellie from being shot immediately by her people because of her bite, because she knows Ellie. As we learned in episode 1, it was Marlene who brought Ellie to Fedra Orphanage as a baby. .
The escalator can also be seen metaphorically. No matter how much Ellie runs against it (sometimes everything stays the same, sometimes there are highs), it still goes further and further downhill for her.
Also, we've learned that Ellie's first impulse is to leave when she feels pushed away or is pushed away or is disappointed in any way, but she keeps coming back. This is one parallel between Joel and Riley. Another parallel is, both are Ellie's protectors. And don't forget Ellie's greatest fear of ending up alone. In the end, she will try everything possible to save Joel or even the world, which she was not able to do with Riley.
Ellie has lost Riley and Sam to the fungus. She is the cure. She wants her survival to have value.
Here it is shown no matter Fedra or Fireflys, for both you are just a number. They tell you what you want to hear and what benefits them, to achieve the respective goals. The officer at the beginning may be really nice, but he's definitely manipulative. There are always only 2 options to choose from and both are manipulated into thinking there are not more. There is only one clearly good or one clearly bad choice. Leaving Fedra obviously does not exist as an option. But orphans are easy to manipulate, as you can see from Ellie, who simply repeats what the officer told her in the conversation with Riley. And also with Fedra da the people starve and kill each other, whereby Fedra officers lack nothing. The Fireflys are no different. Everyone comes in quickly, they made you feel you belong to a family and you are important to them. In fact, Riley is parked alone in the mall with bombs. These also kill civilians, as we saw in Episode 1 on Tess when one of these bombs exploded, killing two teenagers. Lives that are stuck. Eat or die.
The series in general is all about the number 2.
Bill and Frank, Ellie and Joel, Ellie and Riley, Sam and Henry, Joel and Tommy, Kathleen and Daniel, two choices, Mortal Kombat 2, joke book volume 2, red or green. T(w)ogethernes
I actually thought Ashley Johnson (OG Ellie) would have her cameo here. Obviously, this was not the case, but it comes later in another memory. Most likely in the season finale.
Next episode Troy Baker (OG Joel) will get his cameo.
An important question was not answered. What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator. 😁 Your welcome.
you might be the first person i've seen to comment that ellie was (i thought extremely clearly) trying to see if the infected felt pain, if it had any awareness, before she angrily killed it. Angrily, because the infection took everyone, including (prior to tess anyway but she didn't know her well) most recently riley.
Everyone i've seen has been all "ew why is she doing that" when i thought it was super obvious.
loved this analysis!!
@@everybodylovesrae_ thx. I loved your video 😊
Every episode feels like a kick in the groin! Since we have not play the game.
holy hell Rae I'm 7 minutes in and dying laughing from these edits. Other reactions I skip to my favorite scenes but I just can't do that here it's too funny. I don't even know what shows they are from but you are pretty darn talented - great timing too. Thanks for the laughs
omg thank you!!
Not the Billy on the Street with a pack of wild lesbians edit 😂
This one hurts my gay little heart
Omg the here we go lesbians edit was fucking hilarious 😂😂😂
it was lame
who hurt you?@@ShuffleUpandDeal32
9:44 Everyone should have someone who looks at them like that....pure adoration
Ramsey really did do a phenomenal job with her character 100%! I think everyone needs to take a step back and give upcoming, young actors and actresses a chance. Also show a little faith in the casting directors, they obviously saw something in her during auditions.
Furthermore you we're talking about stereotypes and the way people look(Bella and Ellie)...Joel and Pedro Pascal look NOTHING alike! Everyone decided to have faith in him anyway and look what he produced in this show? A solid, believable Joel that catches all his emotion and struggles of that character 100%
Not unlike what everyone went through with pretty boy Superman Henry Cavil as The Witcher. In fact exactly the same stereotype saying he looks nothing like the character. The end result again was a amazing acting performance!
YES it's so true, just trust the casting directors. Like, CLEARLY they know what they're doing and know who's the best fit
the choice in pedro got a lot of criticism as well before the show came out. casting directors get things wrong all the time. this one turned out to be fantastic
Great flashback. Really needed to see Ellie's character arc
Omg your editing lmaooo 😭i love your reaction! Subscribed!!
Between the heartwarming cute moments showcasing Ellie and Riley finally being able to act like kids again for once, if only for a little while...... only to rip it all away again for the seventh time in a row (damn you, show), this never ending River of tragedy that follows Ellie is emblematic of not just the shows central theme but why Ellie continues to fight, to carry on.
It showcases her and Riley on opposite sides of an ideological, real and tribalistic conflict before they lay down their arms and come together to just be close for a little while because they're each others purpose in this moment; a fascinating parallel to the Bill and Frank love story and why it matters greatly when Ellie continues to lose and lose. And now that she does have someone who looks after her, who she can depend on, who matters to them, she’ll be damned if she loses that kind of connection again.
For Riley’s sake and everyone else who died, Ellie will finish this journey……even if it kills her.
This show just doesn't let up, i dont think anyones ready for season 2
Let's go lesbians!
loving these reactions - i'm def a new fan. fun energy, adorable reactions, good insight, funny editing. subbed!
welcome!!
I doubted in episode 1 and feel like a prize fool now
If you think Bella Ramsey killed it in this episode, you ain't seen nothing yet lol...
She definitely killed in the next one
13:25 an INVESTIGATOR!
☠
The fate of Joel is left in the air at the end of last episode and in the game it has a very similar cut but you don't get your answer for even longer in the game. I really wish they took a similar approach to the game for this showing us purely Ellies perspective without Joel for a fairly significant amount of time to really leave non-gamers guessing.
after the season finale you should totally go play or watch the game (game reaction?), the game is even better on this part of the story.
Ashley Johnson looks nothing like Ellie in the game, but I wonder if people would still have been pissed off if she played her on the show despite the fact that she did both the voice and mocap performance. 🤔
It wouldnt have made any sense, since she’s in her 30’s and cant pull off playing 14. Honestly, even her voice in the game doesnt sound like a 14 yr old to me. Sounds like an adult with a high voice.
what? she looks a lot like her, just older.
"I know that they're fine."
Don't jinx it!
Lesbians coming through! Cmon let’s go Lesbians 😂
I swear, i didnt find pedro/joel sexy until he is laying there helpless….he was just some old dude til then, in my eyes 😆. Of course I am now a diehard pedro fan, knowing how shiny his real life personality is.
I think the main reason that Bella Ramsey isn't what people think of when they think of Ellie. Is because all through the games they put emphasis on Ellie being a red head although it is a dark red. Other than that she is portraying Ellie well.
Emphasis? Huh, I always thought her hair was brown.
@@StinkyBuster They say multiple times during the game that she is a red head.
@pds8475 hey I believe you, I just don't remember that at all and even the wiki says auburn not just straight up red
@@StinkyBuster I would of thought that she had brown hair my self if it hadn't said and yeah in certain scenes it does look auburn. I think one place it says it in the game if I remember correctly. Is the David scene he says was traveling with a red headed girl. instead of little girl as in the show.
12:18 song name?
just look up 'here we go again' meme and I think you'll find it lol
❤️❤️
oh you are not ready for the next episode,
oh I am well aware my friend
I like your plant on your left but it looks like it's teetering over the edge. 😬
What's the clip at 6:13?
It's an actual snuff clip.
@@tedious_toad I actually looked it up, I think nobody died in this one actually, but there was another similar one that I came across where... dang
you look nice
*spoilers*
If they're going for a shot for shot ending in tomorrow's episode, I hope they have a trigger warning at the beginning..
the criticism over bella playing ellie was not about her attractiveness, it was because she doesn't look like ellie. if a hot blonde had been cast as ellie the same complaints wouldve been made. the criticism largely stopped when bella proved herself through her spectacular performance.
I still see people tell that Bella can't act good but they just want someone who can serve their fetishized opinion of Ellie. Bella Ramsey proved on every scene that they are amazing.
thats just not true. ppl consistently criticise her attractiveness which is weird as hell considering that the character is 14 y/o. also no one had shit to say about tommys casting for example? she looks way more similar to ellie than he does to tommy. pedro doesnt have the same hair color as video game joel. david doesnt have any similarities to the game. but its crickets when it comes to them. i wonder why
@mistersh4rk dont care to refute all of that so agree to disagree. cheers!
gayness in an apocolypse is nothing short of evil.
