Being a Golden Retriever Owner I can tell that it's not as easy as it seems to raise a Goldie. Even though they are one of the most intelligent and gentle dogs, there are quite a few challenges that every new parent goes through. We just lost our 7 year old Golden(6-22-21) to Blood Cancer which sad to say they are prone to this type cancer. We miss her so much. She was so smart .We had to be careful what we said because she knew what we were saying. I am not kidding. Rest In Peace Skye ! She was our 8th one all so different.We loved them all ! Just had to post this ! This is an update. After losing Skye I lost my best friend and love of my life married 51 years on 8/19/2022. God help me though all this.🙏🏻

@@justanotherokie3149 we have a dog that came up in our driveway during a very cold rainy day 2.5 yrs before our beloved Skye passed. She was well trained by our golden and we’re giving her a chance to be herself and she is really doing good so we are waiting on getting another dog just yet. Mindi just turned 3 on Christmas Day.

I just adopted a three-year-old Golden. The family that had him had to rehome because of a new baby. We had a Golden years ago who passed in 2008. He was absolutely beautiful in addition to being goofy. My new fluffy pal is already my new best friend. I just found your channel, and subscribed immediately. I have a male golden puppy who is 5 months.
I have an 8 yr. old female golden .
Yes, she is aloof. She decides when and who she will respond to.
He loves everyone and comes to all.
He is more vocal( not just barking) and listens well.
Both love to play and play together.
We've had both female and male goldens, and they were all the best dogs! I miss them and wish I had another golden. Doesn't matter male or female.

Noticed a few people saying similar things but also women saying they follow their husbands. Do you think its just a coincidence or that they are more likely to follow males? (Do you think GR's think the alpha is whoever feeds/ walks/ trains them the most or whoever the closest male is?)
We have a 1-1/2 year old female and she is amazing. She was so easy to train and was fully house broken by 4 months. But she does have a trait that you said was more of a male trait. She is extremely loyal to my husband. She’s great with me and the kids but as soon as he gets home she’s right by his side. She’s also great with our cat.

We have a 16 month Great Pyrenees female. She weighs about 90 lbs now pretty much grown. Her father weighs about 154 lbs.
There’s a major size difference in this breed too.
Almost 6,000k I remember when you only had 1,000k, you have grown a whole ton!!

I don't have a choice in my gender of puppy, I wanted a male but I have a choice of two females in 4 weeks time, and this video made me realise that I'm gonna love her no matter what gender, can't wait to pick her and then take her home at 8 weeks 😀

I have a male and a female golden. Whatever you said in this video is like a hundred percent accurate.
Through the years I have had 3 female Goldens (Brandy, Missy, and Ginger) and I now have my first male golden (Ollie 16 weeks old today) and I can say that the females were way easier to potty train and were less mouthy. Both learn behaviors very quickly, 3 to 5 repetitions for sit, shake, lay, leave it, drop, and give it. Ollie has a pretty dependable fetch already which is ahead of what the females did, so that is cool. I found the females to be more affectionate and cuddly whereas the male that I currently have does not like to be held too much but is always close by and follows me everywhere that I go way more then the females did. There is no doubt that Ollie is going to be a great dog but if I had to do it all over again I would get a female.

@@leenasingh As someone who has owned multiple golden retrievers and labs over the past 30 years found out.....any "issue" your pup has is because he/she has not been trained properly or long enough..so it's really a "you" issue. Best of luck with your buddy!
@@steveludwig4200 Thankew… I have been trying to train him and he is learning commands now. I was bit concerned if he would learn or not cos this is the very first time for me petting a golden retriever puppy. On top of it I am a mom to two cute lil puppies of the same age but different breeds that’s wat is making things big difficult for me… but I’m positive I will sail through. 😊

Hi thanks for this video.. It is a consideration especially if you are n older owner. We have had several female golden's and they should not exceed 32kilo's in weight. Thats a large enough weight for owners to handle should they have to lift their dogs. ( we had to several times before we bought a ramp) Some dogs will not entertain getting on a ramp... So watch your backs

My golden retriever is having health issue alot. Specially skin issue even not keeping him in water. And weight issue too he weigh less

Hi there, I have a question. Is it necessary to trim a Golden Retriever fur or is it okay to not trim them and only brush them?
I trim only the feet and between toes to keep them clean and comfortable - brushing regularly should take care of the rest without trimming the fur. Their beautiful coat is a feature! If you live somewhere hot like i do just make sure to exercise them early before it gets too hot in the day.
Groomers use those thinning shears so the hair lays smoother.

I have a doubt , I have 8 months old golden retriever but her coat is not getting long and I groom her 2 tyms a day any suggestions ?
I had the same problem I was worried my Golden she just turned 1 females grow their full coats at 18 months! So at 1 1/2 and they have less of a coat compared to males so there’s nothing u can do besides keep her happy and healthy keep grooming her and wait for her coat to grow in!!!

@@erebus79 It works the other way around. The international units are metric. If you want to use "funny" units, you can always find a way to convert but let's use the system that is understood worldwide, and not in a limited number of countries...
