Good instructional video the only criticism I would have is that these type of videos are not filmed in the sort of location that they would be used. Standing knee deep in a wide fast moving river would be fine to demonstrate a sixteen foot classic Spey rod but the sort of fishing you are describing comes with many difficulties and it’s ok to show the viewer getting hung up on vegetation and not having perfect flows it is what it’s all about. It does demonstrate the basic techniques well though. I love OPST lines but it’s a shame we can’t get a wider range of your gear here in the UK including the rods.
Thanks for the feedback! We have plenty of video's of our lines being cast in tight quarters, we just had an opportunity to shoot this so we did. We were using 11'6" and longer rods, but nothing like 16'. Baltic Fly Fisher in Germany distributes to your area, they can help you find our products.
Love you guys and your products! As a fisherman of the south east I fish a lot of warm water lakes and ponds and bought a head to be able to reach those hard to get areas from shore, anyway we can get a video on the finer details of that?
Hi! I use micro skagit a lot on stillwater, works great. You can check out a video by OPST, with Ed Ward, it’s “Stillwater skagit primer” or something like that. Basically, you use the same casting techniques as you would on rivers. One thing that video doesn’t mention is (as I remember it at least), with big open water, you might be tempted to reach for greater distance. For 95% of us that means wanting to add great speed and acceleration -don’t!
Thanks Joakim, will go check that out for sure (not sure how I missed it). How do you adapt when you are fishing from the shore and not wading? That’s where I seem to have the most issue.
@@jasonbaker8251 it is a bit more of a challenge if you are not wading ankle deep, shin deep is optimal. If that's not possible, send us an email at info@pureskagit.com and we can go over some adjustments you can make.
Thanks for sharing! Great tutorial!
Awesome video! Will you please do another one about the groove line. Surprised to not find a much about it.
Definitely
