I have a counter balanced driver shaft and when switching out the tip adapter, I noticed the previous owner had trimmed the tip 1.5” added a lead plug to the tip, and cut 1.75” off the butt end. The reason why I am mentioning all of this is that when I removed the tip adapter I cracked the graphite. Sooo I bought the same shaft and am now trying to recreate the original shaft that I cracked. Fuji six xlr8. I have 8 and 10 gram tungsten plugs coming in the mail. Is there anyway to determine how heavy the old lead plug was based on the 1.75” trimmed from the butt? I loved the setup and just want the same but cannot get in contact with the previois owner. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Do yoi have a video about driver shaft tip plugs and their benefit with a cb shaft? Thanks!
Also you have to be careful and aware of where exactly you were adding the weight to counterbalance it. If you just do it all the way at the top of the butt end that's not the same as what these shafts do. These shafts have a higher balance point but it's not all the way at the end of the grip. If anything it's probably a little below the grip but it's much higher then other shops. But the weights distributed and spread out so it's not just a really heavy grip end at the top.
Interesting info. So I bought the AutoFlex, company recommends a D1-D2 swing weight. I have a M4 head. I’ve added a 50gm grip and 15gm of extra lead tape. I’m still at a D5 swing weight. How much more weight is needed to get me closer to D1-D2? Sadly, I just found out about these counter balance weight right now. I like what I have now but am interested in following company recommendations. There’s always room for improvement.
I recently had an M3 driver built with the 60TX Tensei pro orange shaft. It was also cut to 44.5 inches play length. How much weight will be needed back onto the head in order to get my swingweight back to the D5 range. Stock M3 driver with non counterbalance shafts are D3 at 45.5 inches
Since I haven't worked directly with those components together I would suggest talking with your builder about getting that club onto a swing weight scale and to the swing weight you are looking for.
Has anyone tested this on a robot ball hitter? Would it alter the club speed speed? I hope there is less guesswork and more data. Counter balance weight decreases swing weight which determines the MOI and in turn the club head speed. Club fitters hazy world this is.

When dealing with a factory 46" uncut shaft, after cutting it down to size do you need to counterbalance the shaft at all to maintain swingweight? In my example, I'm building a standard length 45.5" shaft using an uncut Aldila ATX 75g S driver shaft.
no need to counterbalance unless you are looking to reduce swing weight. For a club like that its just as simple as installing the shaft, cutting to length and installing a grip

I have a guestion, if butt trimming a CB shaft, say for example a Hzrdus Yellow, cutting it from 45,75" to 45", will I loose a majority of the CB weight or is it lower in the 14" part you mentioned? I know it will make the head feel too light and that I will have to add more weight to the head to keep a standard SW.
The mass is distributed throughout the end of the shaft and not in one central location. You will only lose a small amount of weight. If you are looking to get the swing weight back to were is was before you cut it, you are looking at between 8-10 grams ( estimated )
Do you recommend keeping the shaft the same thru my wedges to match my irons??/ ex i have ap3 irons 9-4 in amt tour white and sm7 pw-lw in the standard s200 wedge flex from titelist...would it make difference to go with amt tour white s300 in my wedges???
I want to lengthen my g425 graphite irons. I hear they may be counter balanced. If they are. How do I go about lengthening them if there is a weight plug? And what would the id of the shaft be?

I custom ordered a ping g400 max driver (basically for the head) but forgot to ask for a lighter head as the shaft I installed (Fuji Atmos TS) is not counter balanced, so SW was really high @D8 (@ 45 1/2 in). To make it somewhat playable, I added lead tape to the grip end of the shaft (actually in the butt end and not on the shaft so it didn't make the shaft diameter bigger). Do you have any other suggestions to bring the SW down? Thanks again :D
Options would be to get a lighter weight from PING for the head, play the driver at a shorter length, use a heavier grip, or as a counter balance weight.
@@garyyip8854 just unscrew the copper plug weight out of the g400, play it without a weight screwed in.... or they make lighter copper plugs for it you can replace.

So does adding more grip tape and a heavier grip mean your driver is more counter balanced or does that just lower the swing weight?

Heavier shafts in wedges will help generate more MOI and thereby Back Spin.

putting a midsize grip will add 10g to the grip end 🙂

@@ab-nz2mm Already tried. the plug is only 1.5 grams. I'll have to play as is...I did get it to D4 with the tape, so it's no bother.
Don't do this to your driver if you have it dialed in.
