  • It happened. It actually happened.
    The wonderful Dave from Wee Hours Games visited The Geek Cupboard. Dave has been inside these walls, with me of course because otherwise that would have been a bit weird, and we had a nice chat!
    Much nonsense was spoken, which let's be honest is pretty much what you'd all expect, and it was absolutely brilliant. It took seven years for the meet-up to happen but my goodness me I'm glad it did.
    So go grab a cup of your favourite beverage, sit back and enjoy some high quality nonsense from within the actual Cupboard of Geek itself!

    I found Dave through TGC and I am so grateful. I switch between binging your channels depending on my mood. Sometimes I need relaxing with chaotic undertones, other times I need chaos with surprisingly relaxing undertones. 🤣 No but seriously, I found all my favourite games through you guys. This was so awesome to listen to. May The Geek Cupboard and Wee Hours Games live on forever as the most wholesome friendship on the internet 😍

    I have a friend who I've known for over 20 years, but have never met in my life in person. We both love and talk about horror movies and Godzilla and anime stuff. We met on an old forum board and struck up a friendship that has lasted all this time. Through loss of parents and girlfriends and raising children and we speak at least 3 times a week (over Facebook now instead of forum boards). I would be apoplectic if I lost touch with this person even though I've never spent a minute in their presence. The world the internet opened up to us is amazing and wonderful.
    Cheers!

    I remember the call between Penge and Dave at the end of their respective playthroughs of "Honey I Joined a Cult" to warn them of any fish bowls or lava cakes as both of them were about ready to start the apocalyptic ending. That was great and I am very happy the two of you finally got to meet in person and in the actual Geek Cupboard!

    I suspect, where I live, what you're calling chips would be "wedges", and fries would be "chips", and thin chips (like those from McYuck's) are fries. Bagged crisps are also chips. Australia, a mix between English and USA with our own spin. I guess?

    • @ericadrake387
      @ericadrake387 27 днів тому +1

      From my small part of England, can’t speak for the rest of the UK, but I think it’s pretty similar standard all over.
      Really thin chips like McDonald’s are fries, anything thicker than that are chips & then there’s chips from fish & chips shop (aka a Chippy) which are in a league of their own, they just taste completely different.
      Normal chips are usually the same length as fries but at least double the thickness. Chippy chips are about half the length but usually quite thick. The only exception to something being called fries, when in reality due to their size & shape they are actually chips, are skin on fries & sweet potato fries, I think it’s not been changed to chips to distinguish that you’re getting something different than the average chip. (Plus skin on chips doesn’t sound very nice, sounds like something completely awful 😂)
      Wedges are a totally different ballgame. They have about the same thickness as a chippy chip, but their shape is completely different. They tend to have one fat curved edge on the outside (skins on or off) tapering down to a thin straight edge on the other like a, well like a wedge. They also tend to be seasoned too, whereas depending on the place you’re eating at chips & fries can come unseasoned & you add it yourself afterwards. If you get chips at a Chippy they’ll always ask you if you want salt and vinegar on them before they wrap them.
      But if you think that the definition between chips, fries & wedges is a lot, don’t ask us about how many different types of tea there are…and I don’t mean flavours & brands 😂

    • @Bethgael
      @Bethgael 27 днів тому +1

      @@ericadrake387 Ha! yes. That does sound similar. Do you get any of the above "loaded"?
      Meanwhile, coffee in Australia is generally so good our baristas head to Italy to train _them_ and my best lattes come from the local petrol station (I'm not joking; Wild bean cafes, across BPs in Queensland, at least. My son's a literal coffee snob--he worked in Melbourne for a time--and that's what we drink). Starbucks failed here because it was gods-awful and maccas coffees are almost up to par because we lambasted their "cafes" when they first came out.
      Like, Dave, mate, come to Australia. Better coffee than any of that muck you'll get in the US. :D

    • @ericadrake387
      @ericadrake387 27 днів тому

      @@Bethgael Oh yeah! I forgot about loaded fries! Again they’re called fries but more like chips. But that’s typically in restaurants, in a chippy you’ll get cheesy chips. The difference between the two being that loaded fries in restaurants is almost like the American cheese in a can, (though some restaurants do use proper cheese), whereas a chippy’s cheesy chips will almost always use proper cheese on top, I say almost always as even though I have never personally seen a chippy use anything other than proper cheese, doesn’t mean there aren’t chippys that use other types.
      We have Wild Bean coffee machines in BP garages & small local supermarket shops here too. We do have quite a few Starbucks coffee shops but we do tend to have a few more Costa coffee shops around. And if a garage or small shop doesn’t have a Wild Bean coffee machine it will always be a Costa one. I have never seen a Starbucks machine.
      But funnily enough, my husband who drinks more coffee than me, prefers the coffee from a Costa coffee machine to the coffee in the Costa shops. He says it’s a bit smoother. I only drink coffee at home, shops & machines always make it too bitter for me. But I have always been more of a tea drinker.
      We should all get together & have a lovely tea & coffee party. Bit like a wine tasting but with hot beverages and chips 😂

    You know what would be a good idea? If you and Dave did some type of podcast, that would be really good. Like it could be a monthly thing or whenever you guy's have the time to do an episode. You have both been two of my favourite youtubers for quite a few years now. Keep up the good both of you. And exciting subscriber goals for you both. You are nearly at 50k and Dave will hopefully be at 10k soon. Both amazing achievements.

      I came from Dave, to here. Well worth a listen to Dave. He’s nothing, at all, like Penge, but works just as well as him. Ones a coffee drinker, and ones a tea drinker. And that’s as opposed as they are, in game play chat. Tea drinkers rule by the way, and every coffee drinker is wrong….. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 ☺️

    This is AWESOME!! It was awesome to listen a second time! And again, far too short! I could have listened to you guys ramble on all day!
    And Dave, the best coffee shop probably isn't the coffee shop across from your house. The best coffee shop is probably in Australia. Over the years I've had a lot of friends who have gone to America. Almost NONE of them found anything like decent coffee in America. They ALL (these are people who don't know each other) came back and said American coffee is truly absolutely disgusting. One of my friends, a coffee lover was determined to fine a half decent cup in America. He travelled around intentionally looking for a decent coffee shop for a month. He did actually eventually find a half decent cup of coffee. And where? A coffee shop run by a couple Australians. While the rest of the world loves Starbucks, Australia HATES Starbucks - Starbucks is really TERRIBLE coffee. It really is. It's really bad compared to all the other coffee shops in Australia. Even Maccas has much better coffee than Starbucks. In fact Starbucks is a massive fail in Australia - they failed in Australia because their coffee is really, REALLY crap. That's how good Australian coffee is. And that's basically almost EVERY coffee shop in Australia, you can get a good cup of coffee. Australia has the best coffee on the globe.
    Dave you should come on a coffee expedition to Australia, and taste experience some real coffee! 🤣
