Appreciate this video -- I've been running my 4th campaign, first homebrew, in the Unapproachable East, mostly in the Great Dale in Uthmere, though it's about to transition to Rashemen and Thay for the remainder, and the dmsguild docs on those places give a little update to Thesk, it's nice to see it all collected in one spot here. Perhaps the biggest influence I took from Thesk was to add a small Shou Town into my updated Uthmere, and a bit of stuff about the Nine Golden Swords trying to expand into Uthmere and kick out the Shadowmasters.
I take it that the orcs mentioned were the Gray Orcs. Alignment seems to matter less and less or it is forever morphing. Great Video, thanks for the research.
Glad it was helpful! I eventually want to cover the rest of the East. I’m running a campaign in Thay right now so the research for these videos doubles as research for my game lol.
No joke, this is my favorite Forgotten Realms lore channel on UA-cam. Awesome work, keep it up and looking forward to seeing the rest of Faerun (and maybe even the Utter East!).
14:20 as a half szekely (hungarian subgroup) born in Szekelyland,Romania; i never heard that word, maybe a different dialect/ accent/ regionalism but i doubt that. (Edit) But i love the fact that it translated to "you know" like that fake story of how the kangoroo was named: "-Who are those nomads -oh those, those are ...(akward pass) tuigan (you know)."
Man. You're killing me 😂 I've listened to all your videos several times over. Sortof my go-to when doing household chores. I suppose we all need to eat our lore-veggies now and then, but this video is definitely a piece of broccoli.
If you're referring to UA-cam ads, it's not him and he can't do anything about it. Google has been trying to kill the platform for a while now and recent events are merely their latest attempt.
I don’t think people stopped reading. It’s just that back in the day, D&D was still a niche hobby, so the people who played it cared enough to buy lore books. Now it’s super mainstream and owned by a giant evil greedy corporation that only cares about maximizing their quarterly earnings, and will happily lay off a chunk of their employees to meet that. Books full of fictional history just aren’t going to sell as well to the mainstream Stranger Things fans the same way books with action packed adventures, magic items to flip through, and power crept subclasses that minmaxers will obsess over will. It’s very unfortunate but it’s just the way things are. I’m looking forward to the Forgotten Realms DM’s Guide and Player’s Guide releasing next year, but I’m not gonna get my hopes too high.

Great Video, thanks for the research.
They’re originally from Zhentil Keep, and according to Races of Faerun gray orcs are from the Moonsea, so ya they should be gray orcs.
This is amazing! I definitely needed this for my research of the Unapproachable East (as well as Faerûn in general).
Glad it was helpful! I eventually want to cover the rest of the East. I’m running a campaign in Thay right now so the research for these videos doubles as research for my game lol.
It is incredible how this came up while I was looking for MOAR lore about the east 😍 now.... Will you talk about Impiltur next? 🌚
Eventually… I got a lot of Realms places to get through.

Great to see another video, this looks like a lot of work, thanks!

@@alexandrub8786 Google translate was the only thing I could find when searching the word, so who knows 🤷♂️. I do like that “you know” story a lot.
@@Genghis_Sean "Reverso Context" is a good toll to verify if google translate is good.
Your videos are amazing and filled with so much lore and knowledge. I can't imagine how much and effort you put into researching all this.

@@neks0073 That means so much to me, glad you like my videos! Also I love broccoli lol
@Genghis_Sean Can't wait for you to hit it big on youtube so that these vids can come out more regularly.

Yay
Chunky lore video... Nice :)
Thanks!
does shaundakul exist in 5e? i also remember when krash (george krashos) was just a dude on the FR mailing list.
According to Ed Greenwood, yes. Officially, nothing’s been mentioned of him. forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Shaundakul#History
I’m not sure how this works… but there too many adverts in this video. I love your stuff but the adverts are frustrating.

They have stopped putting lore in books because ppl stopped reading ...

@@Genghis_Sean True. That is why they emphasize art a lot. Afterall, children's books have more art than text.
