I still can't believe what was made of them. Such a waste of what could have been a lovely love story
it hurts so much, they didn't deserve this horrible ending, not after everything they've been through together. I feel sad to the point that I can't even watch a scene of them without feeling upset.
I completely agree I literally feel super depressed and don't want to even start another show because of it this was a complete failure of a ending

The writers chopped off their nose to spite their face. This was an epic love story that would have gone down in tv history. So many fitting endings. There's No Closure to this love story because the Season Finale was so UNBELIEVABLY stupid, that no ending is preferable at this point. The London Bridge/Dam has truly fallen.
My heart was shattered into tiny pieces! I could not believe what I was seeing! I'm so disappointed to the point I can't even watch anymore of NA. Us loyal viewers deserves better than what these writers and producers gave us! It was FREAKIN RIDICULOUS what they did. TOTAL BS!

Oh it’s amazing it’s beautiful and also so sad .it’s incredible because all the Sharpwin’s community is sad about the season 4 finale and we have to wait this fall.I don’t remember the last time that I have so much love two characters because Sharpwin’s love story is so beautiful and I know that they will have the wedding that they deserve and that we are waiting for 4 years 🥺🥰

Her mom is so vile and toxic. Helen let her Mom's words get to her and dismantle her and Max's relationship and future. I can eerily relate to this. Its heartbreaking to know that no matter how solid a foundation is sometimes words can destruct it within a blink of an eye. Like Helen said "Its all a fight... If you're not willing to fight for it, that's cause it's not worth it" Helen was at the finish line of her and Max's journey to the altar, and she let her Mom violate, question, and dismantle her and Max's entire existence...their meaning to each other...the love they've fought for and built through loss, pain, and adversity. Helen stopped fighting when all she had to do was realized she'd won. Now we may never know what closure looks like for them. Invested all this time in their story, only for it to be cheapened with the atrocity of Max being left at the altar by outside of Luna, the very reason he breathes...the 2nd greatest love of his life...Helen. I hate to see this demise, when their love inspired greatness. Max and Helen forever.
This is why I stop watching tv. I fall in love with a couple, I watch them through all these trials, and then the writers will fuck things up or/an actor will leave . I just can’t.
I wish I could give this video one thousand (1000) likes. It is so hauntingly beautiful. I keep returning to watch it over and over.
Why did the Producers and Writers do us like this! Don't they know the VIEWERS LOVE MAX AND HELEN!! I'm betting there's a good reason Freema decided to go! They still could have let Max go find her and find out what happened! Helen loves Max! Stevie Wonder could see that! Max talked some sense into her head and they ride off into the sunset! I mean DANG!
I remember epi 22 "she's not coming" ... OMG the ending is so tragic just imagining it made me sad that they didn't get married, what do the NA writers want to make their loyal audience disappointed, they can only be confused about how the writer fixes this situation Poor Max and Helen the victim from the writer and all the players made unclear by the writer too 🤦😭😭

That "she is not coming" 😢😢 my heart sank and I just knew they were going to ruin them so that was the last episode I was going to watch, and from what I have heard, I did my self a favour not watching anymore of that. Apparently, even her friends, who were her friends longer than Max, just wrote her off smh. Wasted potential, and hard work it took for those 2 building that lovely couple 🥺🥺. Why can't this awesome couple find happiness without all the drama, ..why is Helen's mom so toxic towards her, whatever her mother's issues are is not on Helen's. But it causes Helen so much pain and anxiety..and it affects her emotionally. Max and Helen deserves to live the Love and Happiness that they have for each other, I'm truly hoping that the writers find a way for Max and Helen to work through this matter and have their wedding and live a loving and happy life with Luna and continue to grow stronger together in family unity... Max and Helen can continue working at New Amsterdam professionally like usual husband and wife can work together for the same company successfully......BECAUSE WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER. This was all so true I said the same thing I really wished for this so bad but unfortunately it's not going to happen and I'm devastated why couldn't they just get together and married in season 2 or 3 they put there romance aside and waited all the way until the end to do it 😭☹️😕🥺 like noooooooo why did they do this to me

@@emonie25 This whole New Amsterdam series was so off-base at times, because it cared more about promoting a political liberal left agenda to promote socialism. They didn't care about giving the audience the intricate details of certain storylines of the show; not a priority. They were not interested in filling in the gaps. Their cliffhangers were ridiculous!. New Amsterdam was bound to be CANCELLED. I don't blame Freema Agyeman for wanting to leave at the end of Season 4. Isn't it interesting how her character went from being confident and fearless, to being scared and unsure. REALLY! There is NO WAY, Helen would have not married Max. Firstly, in terms of the engagement, I can tell you right now, if I had dreamed all my life to have a fairytale wedding, and the time finally arrives when the man I have fallen in love with proposes to me, and I begin to make wedding preparations for my fairytale wedding in a castle, (STOP, bring in the "woke" writers) and they decide to include my mean-spirited mother to go along with me to share in this experience, hoping she will finally be happy for me (Helen), only to be utterly discouraged; simply because they (writers) believe that my mean-spirited mother's is still HUNG UP on SLAVERY! Her inability to let go of the past, would NOT spoil my day, nor discourage me from pursuing my dream wedding in a castle. I would flag a cab and send her home, and continue with the preparations by myself or with a close friend. A country where Helen has a history, yet we never see her with ONE close friend in London. Further, my (Helen) mother would only be invited to our special day, with these words firmly in place: "please come if you want to come and share in our joy or don't come if you can't muster up a smile, or at least pretend to be happy for us".
Do they really believe that we black people have to stay chained to a past (slavery), that most of us did not experience and even if some did, are we not free to let go of the past, (that MOST of us living today have no clue of the harsh realities), FORGIVE our enemies (as the WORD of GOD says we MUST do), and move on to live more fruitful and productive lives. If I want a fairytale wedding in a castle (yes, built by slaves), then so be it. The fact that the slaves built the castles, and yes, the churches too, shall we not get married in churches either? How ridiculous! The writers made Helen's mother out to be this angry, bitter, mean-spirited, woman, who didn't own a pretty dress, or a decent bright colored sweater,. They kept her impoverished looking, like she didn't own a tube of lipstick in this present day and age, (Give us a 'DAM' break! Pun intended) and never went to a hair salon in her life for a new style. A mother who could not be happy for her only daughter's incredible achievements, and amazing success as Chair of Hematology and Oncology, and later the Deputy Medical Director at New Amsterdam Medical Center, top tv personality (Dr. Helen) at New Amsterdam, who lived in a huge posh flat in New York. (Loved her apartment!). All they focused on was this angry black woman bitterly discouraging her successful daughter/doctor (who worked hard to get to this level of success) vexing her spirit so much that she literally had to tell her mother to SHUT UP! FINALLY! Family or not, toxic people need to be told to simply shut up. Then, to have Max come back (after Helen walked out of the restaurant) and defend this woman to Helen who knows all too well how this woman feels about the man she loves, white people, the muslim family on her father's side, Mina, etc... Dr. Helen Sharpe was a perfect example of how life has changed for the better. Success is achievable if you are willing to work hard, and make a conscious effort to press forward despite the setbacks, racial, financial, economic or otherwise. Stop thinking the world owes everybody something; you'll end up like Helen's mother: bitter and alone. No one ever said LIFE is fair. You OWE yourself something. Make it happen the best way you know how, through prayer, hard work, FAITH, and dedication. They should have called it New AmsterDAMN! DAMN that "Woe is me" mentality. It didn't surprise me that they never showed one positive thing about Helen's mother. It would not fit the narrative they promoted throughout the series. Further, a parent who is as negative and bitter would have certainly vexed her child's spirit growing up, YET, Helen was a total opposite; she was full of life, laughter and love; but still trying to receive her mother's approval, but never receiving it. Why? Because the liberal woke' believe that we black people, like Helen's mother, should remain with a 'slave mentality'; still impoverished, who doesn't own a single pretty dress in her closet, or a chic purse to match her shoes, despite her own daughter's success. The liberal Left ideology was all over this show. Then, they wanted us to believe that it was wrong of Helen to marry Max in a castle, so instead let's have her get married on the rooftop of of the DAM(n), a place where they would escape to get away from all the chaos. CLEARLY NOT the dream castle wedding for a woman who has worked so hard, and finally gets to SHARE her life with the man she loves, only to be told that she has to settle for a rooftop hospital wedding. Are you freaking KIDDING ME? I would have said NO too, even if I changed my mind on the castle. I'm sorry, but I would not have married on that rooftop, no matter how romantic the writers made it appear. I'm okay with marrying my sweet love in a small ceremony at a smaller venue, with close friends, but no way am I allowing what should be our special wedding day, to just be thrown together, and me rushing to and from the airport to a rooftop wedding at the DAM. Am I sad how the Helen and Max love story ended? YES, because there were so many fitting endings that could have made this lovestory go down in tvland history as one of the greatest lovestories in a medical drama. How they weathered the storms of life, persevered, and ended with their LOVE surviving and Helen giving birth to a baby girl. To quote Max when he said, I want to have a baby with you", not to mention she would be a mini you, friggin adorable (smile). Instead the DAM(n) ended with alot of unanswered questions that THEY never intended to answer because it wasn't relevant to what they were promoting. The last tragic social personal injustice (and there were many) was what they did to the character of the beautiful, caring, compassionate, articulate, intelligent, successful (and completely in love with Max), Dr. Helen Sharpe. Therefore, because Freema Agyeman/Helen decided to call it quits at the end of Season 4; I made a conscious decision to never watch Season 5. If it is as BAD as many people have stated, it does NOT surprise me at all. Sad on so many levels. Thank you Purple Tea Pot for your thoughts; you are right on point. This series was good in the beginning, but at times was all over the place, ultimately going nowhere. 👩🏽❤️💋👨🏼

it was painful to watch. I am sure that Freema Aygeman, who plays Helen, wanted

there should be some kind of punishment for the entire production of the show (writers, screenwriter, cast, etc.) for holding the audience's attention for so long, and in the end putting everything to fall apart.
I think the lack of commitment is a huge lack of respect and consideration for fans who waste their time.

As far as I am concerned, I'm having the series end with S3 E14 or whatever the last episode was when he finally took off his ring and ran back to her apartment. I'll just have to keep that in my mind as the *ending* because S4 was just atrociously terrible and a monumental disappointment.
I honestly didn't think the showrunner and writers could have destroyed a once brilliant show, and Sharpwin relationship, so thoroughly as they did in S4😔
