Something about Mike’s, “You are not the guy. You could never be the guy. I had a guy, but now I don’t” always cracks me up.
I can only ever think of the Placeboing remix
@@zachmaster426I had a guy but now I don’t you..are.. not.. the guy DO DODODDOODOOO
Sounds like a George Carlin bit lol
@@zachmaster426 omfg thank you. I had never seen that before and now I am spiritually enlightened. What an utter banger.
And the unsaid "I don't have a guy because Gus killed him thanks to you and Walt".
Walt's greatest nemesis: barrels.
flies
@@chamoisauce7491 There are two instances of both giving him troubles in the show. It's a draw.
Alcohol.
This is the difference between Gus and Walter. Gus is perfectly happy to have people believe that he is just a simple chicken restaurant manager. Probably more than happy to let people take credit for the bad stuff he has done. If Walt had some humility, he would just let Hank think that Gail was the one behind everything. But his ego won't let him.
Although Gus does have some ego, and does want certain people to know certain things about him. It's just focused on those things and not a ubiquitous characteristic like Walt.
Simple chicken restaurant chain owner.
This is the showing point of the whole turn, tbh
😂😂😂
I love that this is commented on every episode lol and it’s always somewhat true, there’s always a shift going on
How the turn tables.
Where my boy Lyle at? I NEED TO SEE HIS BAWLS
@@MrFrankEastlyle is cool and all but im waiting for ernie to show up, he always steals the scene frfr
Walter reminds me a bit of my mom 😅 he cares on some level but is so wrapped up in himself that he’s just oblivious to the vast majority of self-reflection.
It’s fiction but his acting and the way he’s written feels extremely real to that kind of personality
Walt does a lot of evil things in this show, but I never hated him more than in that dinner scene.
Ego that can be seen from space.
It gets really grating in season 5, to me.
Love the dinner scene. The self sabotaging is hilarious
Arianna is so frustrated she's having trouble forming complete sentences 😆
Watching Arianna just be kind of dead quiet for the first part while Maple talked about hidey holes, then increasingly stressed and frustrated in the second half was really a ride haha.
Hank having purpose in his work again is a good thing, notice he is nice to Marie again?
"Merie"
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
This is really the turning point of the whole show imo
keep this going lmao
@@JohnnyBNerdy somehow, it just gets funnier
@@loco_logicFacts, yo.
@@loco_logic imagine seeing this at the finale
It really was
Drunk Walt is one of the hardest scenes to watch. So freaking uncomfortable. It's impossible to not dislike him more and more as the show goes on.
Why does Walter keep talking to these people like he has the upper hand?
Ego.
And because he still DOES have leverage, at least in his own mind, being the only person who can cook the good stuff.
@@clh35Except he isn't
@@mcgfn Yes he is. The only question is whether the extra 3 or 4% in purity is worth the hassle to Gus. More importantly, like I said, Walt believes it.
Walt would love nothing more than to hear that he's the smartest man Hank has met
🫠🤫
Guess he got his wish huh
When Gus slit Victors throat, Jesse stared right back at him without flinching while Walter recoiled. That’s definitely the point where Gus actually saw the potential in Jesse
Also that scene with Walt at Hanks is just another example of what a terrible drunk Walt is. He gets so arrogant and spiteful
Yea and I think he also realized knowing that Jesse was the one who pulled the trigger to save Walt he knows why Walt keeps him around for his loyalty
Gus saw the potential in Jesse when he refused to back down after he found out they were using kids to kill people.
@@Jeremy252I sometimes wonder how differently things would have turned out if Gus had killed those two and let Thomas live to placate Jesse. That moment honestly might have been Gus's defining miscalculation. He could have secured Jesse's loyalty and wouldn't have forced Walt into trying to save him, and it would have only cost him street level dealers. Walt's ego would probably still eventually get the better of him, sooner or later...
@@Jeremy252 yea that too I think he noticed that and then when he found out Jesse killed Gale to save Walt's life and then when he looked at the difference in Walt and Jesse's reaction after he killed Victor he noticed that Jesse is loyal and cares more about people than Walt does Walt cares but will Justify his actions as right for doing what needs to be done and he can see how Jesse hates senseless killing of anyone not just people he cares about but anyone who doesn't deserve it.
19:37 yes of course it’s Walt ego & pride here, but recognize it’s not just that Gale gets credit for his genius, Hank also unknowingly pierced at Walt’s ego’s core by pointing out what Walt COULD have accomplished with his genius.
Keep in mind at this point Walt has every reason to believe he will be killed soon by Gus. He’s powerless & trapped. It’s not just his ego lashing out for pride’s sake, it’s lashing out because it's deeply wounded at this moment.
It’s not just pump my chest I’m so great, it’s “hey hey hey, I’m not a piece of S**t nobody. I’ve made mistakes but I’m also capable of things.”
Honestly cant wait for them to see Better Call Saul. Some of the prediction are on point
Thw holy fudge got me😂
The look on Arianna's face at 4:11... The funniest shit I've seen in weeks! Damn!!!
😂🤣
Then when she said "Sometimes I want to be in a hole"... Same girl. Same. 💀
The key to financial success is controlling the distribution -- and that is Gus. You've yet to see his backstory, but you'll understand when you do. Walter doesn't get that he (meaning Walter himself) is "only" a chemist or "the" chemist and has no expertise in distribution whatsoever. Of course, if Walt were content with his role as chemist, there wouldn't be any point in continuing the series. Love you guys.
Maple: "I want a hidey hole!"
Arianna: "😑🤨🤨"
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Walter’s compelling side I think is largely yet to come, but in the sense that he already is:
I think it’s just that people admire his writing in that we can understand his decisions despite how awful they are, because of that that domino effect you mentioned, and how he’s written to be a product of his experiences
Consequences on consequences
I definitely cannot understand his decisions and many watchers feel the same watching flabbergasted how Walt often have the most unhinge ideas.
He is a very well written character, but I always wonder about fans who actually root for him.
edit: and he is not just a product of his experience. Hundreds of thousands of people experience similar trauma without trying to become ruthless drug kingpins - his doings are the product of his brittle ego and his narcism
@@TheOriginalDogLP you’re right I did forget to mention his choices, combination of environment and choices.
I never rooted for him, but I did feel I understood how his life lead to his decisions
Arianna catching onto the theme of purpose in this episode is a great spot. Jesse and Hank are in a very similar place in this episode and they end in a very similar place after they rediscover their purpose. This episode kinda flies under the radar but it's one of my favourites.
Random Fact: The song that starts playing at 7:08 is played by the chilean rapper Anita Tijoux 🇨🇱
I always wonder why did Vince got Chile so present in the show, also considering the origin of its main antagonist.
I've watched the entire series of Breaking Bad multiple times and I've never noticed Marie's purple thing until Maple pointed it out.
I want to know why and how this remained invisible to me until now.
I love Hank's honest assessment about whether or not Jesse was tge shooter.
Yes that would be surprising. He's an idiot drug user/seller. Murderer? Hank has to to think about that one. Great writing.
Walt is one of those people that is simultaneously too smart for his own good, while not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. As for Skyler, if Walt told her the whole truth, she would go completely off the rails.
I had never actually seen holy fudge before, that was good.
Walt's ego is running wild.
24:53 at this point I’m not sure where Walt lives matters for his families safety.
And Skylar is under the assumption Walt is safe
The way the little things that Walter does get Ariana and Maple triggered is a testament to Bryan Cranston’s nuanced performance as Walter. It’s an acting masterpiece.
We spoke about this briefly in a more recent episode!!!
It's like writing to the police: (👐 ) you'll never catch me
I'm always down for some Holy Fudge...piece be with thee.
The thing about Walt is, he is an extremely intelligent and academically accomplished man, but the turns life took him down have left him filled with an impotent rage at the thought that he was robbed of what was his and denied the respect he feels he deserves, he is for lack of better wording, a weak man. This is what drives his actions, his desire to be respected the way he "feels" he is owed, and every time he touches a glimpse of power he's blinded by it. He is ultimately his own worst enemy and most of his troubles are his own doing. It is EXTREMELY frustrating to watch but also fascinating to see the path he is on, and where it leads. Ppl have said it here before but dude, hang in. Shits finna get real bumpy
Hank is too good at his job
It's like what crazy 8 told Walt " he is nit cut out for this line if work until he becomes Heisenberg for breif moments
Walt is super intelligent, and he knows when to act and how to manipulate. You haven’t seen him rise to the level that he will.
I think we established that Jesse is NOT the guy.
Daddy Walt in full on protection mode over Jesse
What makes Walt such a memorable main character is that hes both a genius with sciences and an idiot with everything else.
Even geometry!
"I don't want him to get lucky." Oof.
Walt isn’t worried about the safety of his family by living with them because he thinks of himself as the top dog. He’s smarter than everyone else. In his mind, he always has the advantage, over Hank, over Gus, everyone. He’s the hero in his own story, in his own mind. He’s the villain and nothing will stop him from gaining the advantage.
Walter can be so annoying because he simultaneously feels like he can think in 4D sometimes and easily impresses with how he effortlessly taps into his scientific knowledge, and then he has the emotional maturity of a toddler and fucks up in a way even your dumb high school boyfriend wouldn't.
Yes jesse is far more mature than walt
3:57-4:16 is a masterclass from the editor
With regard to Hank, Walt is clearly self-sabotaging, but with regard to Gus I think his actions here more or less make sense. From the box cutter scene onward, he's been operating under the assumption that Gus can't kill him yet, and probably won't kill Jesse on account of the risk that Walt might refuse to work if he did, but at some point, plans to kill them both. The only option he thinks he has is to kill Gus before that point. Sure, maybe there's still repercussions coming in response to killing Gus, but that unknown is being weighed against the certainty that Gus will kill them if he isn't killed. Right now, he doesn't have any clever plan for how to do it, he's just decided that he needs to shoot him whenever he can get the opportunity to.
Granted, even though he brings the gun to Pollos Hermanos, I don't think he plans to kill him so publicly (if he did, he would have already tried showing up at Pollos). In this case, he's just trying to make sure nothing's happened to Jesse. He has no way of knowing where Jesse is or what's happened to him except to ask Gus or Mike. He's presumably carrying the gun as just a safety precaution, though it's also plausible he thought he might need to threaten Gus to find out. He knows that he's temporarily safe by the mere fact that he wasn't killed already, but he can't be certain that's the case for Jesse. Even though he threatened he wouldn't cook if they hurt Jesse, Gus could always call his bluff there and threaten his family to make him work.
It's not a particularly clever or creative plan, but as a pure brute force solution for a guy who doesn't seem have a lot of options, it does make sense. Walt does have a small upper hand in the short term, since he knows Gus really does need him more than he needs Gus. He doesn't have the power to kill Gus, but the second he does he will. Gus has had the power to kill him at any time, and absolutely has the motive and desire to do so but hasn't. Consequently, Gus is tipping his hand a bit, and granting Walter a degree of leverage that puts Gus in danger.
13:00 This was totally an Aliens homage.
Walt’s the only one with power. Nobody makes money without Walt
I was always a little perturbed Gus put up with so much shit with Walt. He had other sources before. He could get other sources again. I guess it's 50% being a perfectionist about purity of the product, and 50% looking for a supply without being concerned with cartel connections/trafficking across the border and in that respect having all his eggs in one basket?
The hole discussion feels like an iconic moment for this reaction series haha.
23:24 yes exactly! He’s flailing like a fish. He’s in a cornered hopeless situation and he’s panicking. Why can’t they see this as the primary motivator for Walt at this moment? Fear
This was the turning point of the show
This is where the show really takes turn!
0:16 not the Latin choir 😂😂😂😂
Ikr, that really got me! 😂😂
Quote of the day "Be the drug lord you think you are"
3:57 Maple unknowingly empathizing with every dude across history is hilarious to me
I've made quite a few holes in my day. Fun shit.
Walt annoys and confuses me this episode from the unreasonable panic at the start to how much power he thinks he has in the lab. I understand but don't respect when his pride engages for the talk with Jesse and then when drunk at dinner. On the other other hand, I love Jesse in this episode.
Nah I agree with what you said except the unreasonable panic part. Walt’s panic was 100% reasonable. Powerful people that he doesn’t trust randomly takes a Jesse that’s been acting out. These same people already threatened both their lives and at this point in the story; we are to believe that the only reason Jesse is alive is because of Walt. We also believe that Gus doesn’t care for Jesse that much and doesn’t like working with junkies. So Walt and the audience have all the reason to believe Mike and Gus would dispose of/ hurt Jesse in someway. So for that reason; Walt’s panic is justified and honestly commemorable.
How in the world is his panic unreasonable?
Pride plus panic equals bluster, is how I read it.
@@jerodast definitely grasping at straws. When animal is cornered it either shrinks or bucks up
There are 3 main characters in Breaking Bad. Walt, Jesse, and Walt's ego.
4:29 Mike disses his peers? Like Eight Mile?
That's the story of Walter White: couldn't leave well enough alone.
Holy fudge haha
Walt's pride getting in his own way. Smooth move, ex lax...
19:15 Thank you!😆👍
Walter is a megalomaniac and everything he does he feels justified in his actions. You have to remember he did this before in a different realm of science and he believes his work was stolen from him; which is why he’s covets the blue so selfishly, he believes it’s his product or invention. So even working under Gus, it’s obviously not about the money anymore, it’s about Walt grabbing more power.
The thought of being in a hole, probably hiding hidy, Im cool. Because why not?
Thanks for the communication. I saw boy kills world. In the theater, theatre, today and ran. I feel you'll get it when you get it.
You will need to accept that Walt, smart as he is, has a huge problem with his pride. Pride drives him. And the meth business is his highest accomplishment in recent years.
Really love the discussion on this one
0:15 😂
I think "just black" was walter Jr's best moment in the series.
I have watched many Breaking Bad reactions, but YOU GUYS are the best! The analysis, the funny comments, the theories... Bravo! 🤩🤌 (Please please react to Better Call Saul - series after this?)
16:00 oh Lord , have mercy 😂
I've been waiting for *Episode 6 & Episode 11* for months. 😃 Iconic moments coming up
Walt cares about Jessie but he likes him to be his subordinate and under his thumb, he's manipulative and controlling. Gus can see that, so its a play to isolate Walt and push him further into a corner where he can't challenge his authority again.
Arianna looks good with her hair lightened
Once they find out what Walt is truely capable of only then will I be at peace….
What kind of hole? This place you sometimes want to be? lol
Jadd J.A.D.D. Jadd
I wish I could see the deleted scene where Jesse cut Mike's ear, because Jesse does mention he got him, I want to see that scene.
Walt's titanic ego will be his downfall!!! LOL
purple grocery bags, i love it
4:04 you two crack me up 🤣🤣🤣
Walter is desperate and that is why he does most of what he does.
Need to get a job done promptly. No BS. Mike is your guy. Hank too. But Mike more so.
Walter is a bad guy, but sometimes you gotta look past your weird hatred for him and see why he does the things he does. He literally comes on screen and yall immediately hate everything he's gonna say before he does
13:06 To Ariana’s question about why Gus puts up with Walt's tantrums, I think the answer is just money. Like Gale said, Walter can make something no one else can, something superior and profitable and unique, and it’s the edge Gus needs to get what he really wants, which is revenge. He’s willing to ride Walt's wave of chaos as long as it gets him there.
Spoiler alert
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of Breaking Bad!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊

Walt’s a narcissist.
Careful what you wish for
13:21 sheesh.
Walt is clearly scared for Jesse & trying to reinforce Jesse’s value (which let’s face it, at this point is only a thing because Walt says so).
Nitpicking every single thing Walt does yet again. And I’m usually the guy pointing out Walt’s flaws in comment sections 🤦🏼♂️

Believe when I say u guys have no idea what Walt is capable of... at least u haven't seen nothing yet. Trust me, Walt is very calculated and good at planning. Maybe not on Gus's level, but Gus also has Mike helping him.
