If you think that episode was a rollercoaster ride you are nowhere near ready for the whole series. I'm so here for this.
It's a rare TV show where you can't pick your favorite season. Mine is probably 4 or 2 or 1
Mine is season 5 4 and 3@@Darkstar_Dayne
@@Darkstar_Daynethe whole thing basically
Objectively season 2 is the best, there's a huge tone change in 3, 5, and 6
@@jarrahkron9 I personally think 6 is the weakest mainly because Helen wasn't in the show RIP.. And the rona situation made shooting the show harder it kinda feels dull
This is where the Cillian Murphy movement started to swell
I hope je took some medication for it.
Exactly.
28 days later and Sunshine is where I started following him
not really though. He got a lot of praise and recognition for his performance of scarecrow in batman begins and then worked with Nolan again on inception. at that point he was already a well known and talented actor.
@@MattMajcanfirst saw him in batman
Cillian Murphys best role hands down.
That and the zombie movie. He’s not the best in that movie however you can see that character in this series if you notice
@@colinworcester7938Peaky Blinders is okay but it's a poor man's Boardwalk Empire (BBC is not a patch on HBO, and I say that as an Englishman). Tokyo Vice is the best show around at the moment. HBO/Max always delivers premium content ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@colinworcester7938 That zombie movie was amazing but it was nowhere near his best role. He did play the role perfectly though
Oppenheimer is a close one
@@colinworcester7938what’s the zombie movie name?
This series is based on a real gang in England right after WW1.
Yes, although it should also be noted that it is only loosely based on the real gang. The plot is entirely fictional, and the real Peaky Blinders were (ironically) taken down by Billy Kimber's Birmingham Boys.
In name only. The rest of the story is completely fiction. They were never a multi million dollar global crime family. They were just common street thugs.
This gonna be one hell of a journey
The copper who's actor's name you can't think of is Sam Neill.
Tommy's flashback was to the tunnel war in WWI. Both sides would dig tunnels under each other's trenches with the aim of either planting HUGE bombs under them (look up Messines Ridge to see what it looked like when that worked) or stopping the enemy from doing it to theirs. Sometimes teams of men from both sides would meet underground and then there'd be a fight in pitch blackness in four foot square tunnels with knives and shovels. Sometimes one side would tunnel _past_ the other and then plant a small bomb next to their tunnel that would collapse it and seal them in, leaving them to suffocate. If that's what Danny was doing htem it's no wonder he's got "shell shock" (PTSD). That would fry anyone's brain. I've only read a book about it and it made my skin crawl and gave me nightmares.
This show has me walking around everywhere saying "BY ORDER OF THE PEAKY BLINDERS"
I'm so glad I randomly started this series when the 1st season dropped on Netflix. What a journey.
Also, glad Maple settled into doing an accent less than 5 minutes into the show. 😂
I''m from the midlands so i was annoyed by the inaccuracy of her accent lol
No freaking way. This is going to be a ride!!!!
This gonna be so good, I can wait to hear Maple go absolutely nuts at the ending of this season lmao
The greatest show of all time
My grandfather worked at the Austin car factory, mentioned several times in this episode, from 1930 to 1980 when he retired - interrupted only by his WW2 service. Can you imagine working 50 years for the same company?
AHH! The good old days, when you could get a job for life 😎❤️💛💚🖤✊🏿🇯🇲🏴
Love this! Please do the rest of the series. You guys will love it, and I'm here for every video!
29:58 they came out swinging…And. It. Will. Never. Stop. All the way to the last episode. Love the ride and appreciate it when it’s over! ❤
I love that you're watching this series. It's one of the best TV shows I've ever seen
You two are going to love this. Britain is a mixture of despair and hedonism in 1919 in the aftermath of the Great War (WWI). Returning soldiers, newly minted revolutions and criminal gangs are fighting for survival in a nation rocked by economic upheaval. One of the most powerful gangs of the time is the Peaky Blinders, run by returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family. But Thomas has bigger ambitions than just running the streets. When a crate of guns goes missing, he recognizes an opportunity to advance in the world because crime may pay but legitimate business pays better. Trying to rid Britain of its crime is Inspector Chester Campbell, who arrives from Belfast to try to achieve that goal. Enjoy the rest of the series.
YES! I adore this show! I hope you girls love it, it turned me into a massive Cillian fan and it’s been awesome seeing him get more recognition after winning the Oscar.
Cannot express how excited I am to watch these reactions 🙌🏼
Excellent reacting, some great insights and calls - happy to sub to enjoy this with you.
You two are going to love this show. Great casting, writing and set design. It’s a ride and it will be emotional. It’s going to be great watching your reaction to this epic series.
I'm sooooo excited for this series.
“By orrder orf the Peaky fuhkin’ Blinders”
Oh boy. I'm so excited to have you two watch this series. It's so good!
As a proud Brummie from Small Heath this makes me so happy ❤❤❤
You need to watch all of this !!!!
This entire show is an emotional rollercoaster, and it's worth it!!!!!
One of my favorite shows ever! You guys are in for a heck of a ride!
Just an FYI, the character of Polly, was based on the writers aunt.
OMG Girls, You will love this one. So excited. Thanks
Do them all !!!!!! You ain't gonna be disappointed. trust me. Personally, this is Cillian Murphy's best role.
Loved the entire series, I thought everyone did such a phenomenal job. All the Shelby, in particularly, did amazingly well, but I feel both Cillian and the man who plays his older brother were amazing.
Excellent! This is another one I'll be watching along with.
I just finished Peaky Blinders for the first time a bit ago so I was pleasantly surprised to see y’all starting a reaction, woo!
You guys are in for a serious treat with this show.
Hi ladies. No spoilers from me, but I will tell you a couple of things. For one, I would rate this series up there with Deadwood and The Sopranos. This 1st episode was a lot, but it only gets better. As for the gangs name, The flat caps that were worn back then were known as peak caps or peakys. The gang made alterations to theirs and used them as weapons. Typically in a serious fight, they would strike at an opponents eyes. Thus, the Peaky Blinders. Like any really great series (or movie franchise), you will get invested in the characters. Most of them are what they seem, though Tommy is a brilliant strategist as well. So just buckle up and pay attention. By order of The Peaky Blinders. ; ))
You ladies are in for a spectacular ride! I’m jealous you get to see one of the last good pre Covid shows, music, movies and television are dying out
One of the best shows ever made.
Finally, I thought this day would never come
@14:19 I've never tailored before but I've made a few shoes with help. With boots you start with a last which is usually a piece of wood in the shape of the void you want in your shoe. I've seen some cosplay folks make something like a last for clothes by making a semi ridged body cast out of cellophane and duct tape. After cutting themselves out, they stuffed the custom shape with paper. They then had a template to work from when choosing and testing patterns with paper or cheap cloth, and something to pin the material in place/shape when assembling the final design.
Oh my! He just popped up on my feed. Yet another great reaction do well doing Peaky Blinders. You got my subscription.
This is one of the best series ive ever seen
One of the best series ever made and I'm looking forward to the film
Oh yeah! This is going to be so much fun. This show is crazy good.
May have to rewatch this along with yall
i wish i could rewatch peaky blinders for the first time again
I AM SO TOTALLY STOKED YOU GUYS ARE WATCHING THIS!!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH ALONG WITH YOU, YOU'RE GONNA ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!! 👍👏😁😉
My great-grandfather Arthur lived at 383 Bolton Road in Small Heath before he moved to Toronto in 1919, then St. Louis.
My grandfather was born in 1905 and he was the best, toughest, strongest, kindest when he could be, man ever. I can well believe some of this generation were this smart and tough.
If you don't know yet, the gang's name "Peaky Blinders" is tied to the razors in the brim of their newsboy caps, which is called a peak (historically, as safety razors weren't invented in 1919, the real Blinders sewed sharpened pennies in their caps). The term Blinders came from their signature attack, where they used the blades in their hats to slash at their target's eyes to blind them.
Or, more likely, the named just come from the peaked hats they chose to wear, and any use as a weapon is a myth. Trying to slash someones eye with a blade sewn into one's cap would seem very difficult and overly complicated.
Thanks so much!! I always wondered what it was. my guess was something with your eyes and being curious/scared, people looking away when they walk past. etc
@@gillisthom In how its depicted, there's nothing complicated or difficult about attacking with the razor hat. You just take it off and swing for the face. Of course, concealed and improvised implements like razor hats are most effective if the assailant isn't aware of them. But in the case of the Peaky Blinders, they use it more as a "punishment" tool, where they make a grizzly example of anyone who dare cross them.
@@gillisthom it's from the blade cutting faces and their own blood pouring into their eyes so they can't see through it. ( signed, a West Midlander)
I saw a video on a historian saying this was not true. It had more to do with how they wore their caps to the side covering one of their eyes.
The last kingdom and this are the two best series.
Been craving for someone to react to Peaky Blinders cause this show is amazing. New sub here!
Aunt Polly is wonderful. She's played by the late, wonderful Helen McCrory - who I've always loved, because she looks like my partner (among a lot of other reasons) - and who I found recently was the wife of Damien Lewis (Winters in Band of Brothers)
Band of Brothers - Stars a guy who grew up around 1 mile South of me.
Cillian Murphy - Looks like a guy I went to school with, and grew up around 0.75 miles North of me.
13 Locations in Peaky Blinders - Filmed in 7 Locations within 3 miles of my house, mainly just 1.5 miles away. There's also another 4 across the rest of the city, plus more nearby in neighbouring towns and cities.
Sam Neill is the cop from Jurassic Park, and he and Cillian Murphy absolutely rule in this show. The actress that played aunt Polly before she passed away suddenly a couple of years ago was married IRL to the actor that played Winters in Band of Brothers. I am so excited for the 2 of you to watch this show, it’s one of the best from the past decade by a mile. I know you’re gonna have a blast, and it’s gonna be great watching you experience it.
The funny thing is, back when they called it shell-shock, they treated it correctly...
You already had my Tuesday lunch plans with Breaking Bad. Then you got my Monday also with Stranger Things. Now you've got my Wednesday also with Peaky Blinders. Loving this.
It’s actually on the life of Tommy Shelby back in the days down the old brummies. Obviously it’s been tweak slightly but they were real bandits/gangsters.
No matter how many times I see that "killing" scene with Danny, it moves me everytime. Even knowing it's a fakeout for the Italians, everytime 😭
"Riding around in horse seems like so much fun"
Her friend with the horse laugh 😂😂😂
"But not a real green dress that's cruel." 13:20
The cop is played by Sam Neil from Jarasic Park
This series is loosely based on real gang, by the same name, but the actual family depicted here is fictional, and in reality, the real Peaky Blinders were mainly active around the 1890s and 1900s, and did not exist beyond 1920. Some characters such as Billy Kimber are real historical figures.
This saga has been transposed slightly forward in order to be set against real notable events; the aftermath of the first world war, the Irish revolution, the attempted rise of fascism in Britain etc. I won't spoil anything by going into detail.
It's a brilliant and fascinating show, one of the very best of modern times, that can often be very, very dark indeed, though brutal acts of violence are more often inferred than graphic. I'm sure you will enjoy it very much.
This show goes deep it’s so awesome!
Every season gets better
Spittoons were still a thing in homes and businesses when I was a kid in Tennessee in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
Just started watching this bc of you guys. Guess we are watching it together now
Hell yes... One of my favorites
Sam Neill. If you ever get the chance, see him in Reilly: Ace of Spies.
Inspector Campbell is the guy who plays Sam Neil in Jurassic Park. That's where you recognize him from. I watched the entire series twice before finding out. EDIt- Yeah you got it.
He played Dr Alan Grant in Jurassic Park. Sam Niell is his stage name.
The Actor is Sam Neil. He plays Alan Grant in Jurassic Park
@Jehty21 oops yeah my mistake.
Wise choice to keep subtitles on. 👍
'Peaky Blinders' is definitely one of my fav BBC TV shows. Hope you LOVE it!❤
Cillian Murphy is so good in this series but Helen McCrory as Polly Gray is the heart and soul of this show.
You need drop every episode out now because I can’t wait y’all beautiful react to my favorite movie ❤
“Arthur is a drunk” Oh my sweet summer child
The only gripe that I had about how they begin the story is the amount of exposition it takes to let the viewers know what's going on. Kind of necessary, I get it, but it feels like being spoon-fed at times. Such a gritty time in history.
I think it's very necessary considering this series is more popular in America and India where most people aren't aware of post WW1 Britain
@Darkstar_Dayne at the same time, it's interesting to compare to the works of P. G. Wodehouse and the world of Jeeves & Wooster - same time period, same country, completely different worlds. All episodes are on UA-cam. Would recommend @Diegesis
Except for the episode where characters wear blackface to escape the police... yeesh.
Ive heard this show being discribed as "Downton Abbey mixed with The Sopranos" and thats the best discrption of this show.
Peaky Blinders (2013-2022) = Filmed in Bradford.
Downton Abbey (2019) = Filmed in Bradford.
Both used the same building, just 2 miles from my house.
Downton Abbey is full of people who have filmed other stuff in Bradford, plus at least cast members were born here.
Peaky Blinders is also full of people who have filmed other stuff in Bradford,
Love this show, Love you guys are watching this show!! Really put Birmingham on the map although in this first season...Cillians accent - while Brummy (The accent for people from Birmingham) feels like different parts of Birmingham in each scene. Seems to get it nailed down by season 2...either way - LOVE the show - love that they've all got the Brummy accent down so well. You guys are in for a treat!
I noticed that while watching this reaction. He really finessed it later on.
Keep dropping episodes...it's so interesting
the best fucking show of all time by a country mile
Definitely my fave. One of the few shows that has consistently kept up the quality level in every season. A lot of my old faves started out great and then slowly got weird like Walking Dead and Blacklist. Taboo was an awesome mini-series by the same guy who does PB.
Best one ever
Breaking Bad, Vikings, Game of Thrones, Snowfall, Lucifer, The Flash, Arrow, Gotham, Agents of Shield, Love/Hate, Father Ted, Unforgotten, Line of Duty, Our Girl, Call the Midwife, The Royal, Heartbeat, Where the Heart Is, Soldier Soldier, London's Burning, The Bill, Peak Practice, Car Share, My Hero, The Inbetweeners, Shameless etc
Just some of the many many dramas and sitcoms I've seen which are better than this...
Yet there's millions of highly rated shows I haven't seen, as I spend most of my time updating IMDB.
Absolutely fantastic show. And when you finish this one, my enthusiastic vote is The Last Kingdom
This was my favorite show before I watched Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul. I can’t wait for y’all to enjoy it!
'We came back'🥱
Top 3 best shows of all time, at the very least one of the best characters ever.
Fukking finally
This notification made my day
Peaky Blinders and Boardwalk Empire was a great combo back in the day. Post WW1 gangster/mob show.
Great show. Very loosely based on a real gang from the 1880s-1920s. They were never some big crime family like they are portrayed in the show. Just common street thugs. Cillian does a great job but Tom Hardy really steals the show imo.
I will never watch a gangster show but I watched PB because of Cillian Murphy. I have followed him since I saw him in Sunshine and so I watched PB and think PB is better than Games of Thrones, which is a big deal because I really like GOT even seasons 7 and 8 which most people hate.
29:11 that wasnt acting in front of the mob, danny really thought thomas was about to kill him, but thomas loaded a non lethal bullet so it didnt kill him
i think she meant tommy's acting like he was really going to do it
May I suggest you all add Westworld to your watch list, it's an amazing show
Believe me, you've only just begun. Cillian Murphy an anomaly in this one!
Peaky Blinders! Let's. GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Im gonna have to complete the series now so i can be caught up to speed 😭
The Peaky Blinders were a real Brummie gang. The Prime Minister Winston Churchill who was in the train ordering the Cheif Inspector around was a real person too and he was actually from the Spencer family the same ones as Princess Diana that was her Uncle.
Diegesis Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
You guys have to watch mr inbetween it’s such a good show
Love the reactions, I'd recommend "Taboo" after this led by Tom Hardy.
Top 10 shows of all time
Yes!
Shell shock > battle fatigue > operational exhaustion > post traumatic stress disorder . shell shock is better
Thanks for this:)
I forgot how good this show was
