These walls look so exotic (Minoan?) and yet still look ancient and vaguely Greco Roman also. So unique. I love it. Please make more expansions in this style! Thanks!
I totally relate to the undercurrent of mania. Crafting is my happy place, but can certainly be a deep rabbit hole. The puns are great. Love the video.
These look SO good. Slicing layers off the outside of the foam and the brown ink wash do a ton of work to make these look and feel ruinous! I definitely agree that dry brushing doesn't have to be the last step, and the reddish wash giving the illusion of layers of separate stone was a phenomenal touch. I'm inspired!
I love your videos so much, it’s so inspiring to me how you can make both the work of art you’re making a tutorial for and the work of art that is the video itself at the same time! Thank you for sharing your work with us 🥹 💕
Wonderful work again. I really enjoy the UDO and think it does matter to the overall look of the work. I've added these ideas to my ever growing list of things to do when I get time. Thank you so much!
Still making the best terrain crafting tutorials on UA-cam, I see... Good for you! And good for us! That montage at 0:20 is so great! I rewinded it like 10 times, no exaggeration.
this is fantastic. Love all the detail. The editing for this seems like it may have take 2 eternities. The work really shows. Nicely done! One thought, the wash technique you're attempting appears to want to mimic oil washes. It's a reductive technique. The mineral spirits smell can be off-putting, but it will be a lot less effort (though oil paint, even as a wash, takes an hour before you can start removing it). Black Magic Craft switched to this a long the way. You might find it easier for your terrain pieces as well. Great idea. The walls look great. Your D&D adventure looks genuinely epic!!
Haha thank you for the compliments! And don't worry, the editing only took 1.5 eternities. I have seen BMC's videos on oil washes and I am probably subconsciously trying to mimic that aesthetic! I'll put a coin in the jar of 'consider switching over to oil washes' now 🙃
I love these tutorials!!! They're like all I need. Came up with another UDO idea to keep you up at night: With the way these are made to stack, I could imagine there being a wall topper that could be a cornice piece. This would allow for the walls to be assembled into a temple front, or the cornice pieces could be placed on the ground to accentuate the ruin feel and provide cover
Yes. Excellent. Most definitely, certainly not going to keep me up at night. Yeah. Mhm. That's a great idea, honestly! I will add it to the bank for potentially future videos. 😊 And I appreciate the enthusiastic praise!
You have a face! 😜 These are awesome. Instead of slicing off every corner of every wall, keep a sheet of 120 or 180 grit sandpaper handy and shave the corners down. I gotta believe that's faster. Along with your crafting, I gotta say, your editing is top notch as well. Good stuff all around. Cheers. (I'm not coming up with any decent puns which is really annoying me. 😤)
@dirigoallagash3464 Sanding is a great time saving suggesting, but sanding foam should be done out of doors while wearing a mask, foam dust is not healthy and it is messy.
I did manage to get similar-ish results to sanding and cutting with scraping the edge of the piece with the blade of a sharp utility knife sideways. Pretty much dust free, no hard edges, way faster than cutting.
I do! And thank you for the compliments! I do agree that sanding would probably be faster, but I can't be bothered with the dust and making sure I'm appropriately masked and clean after :P
For rounding corners on things that don't/can't get the shake in a can with rocks method I'll use side of a ball clay tool (the bar/spike the ball sits on). I rub it along the edge.
You're back! You have another awesome tutorial! You have...a face! 😛So many good ideas that I am going to shamelessly steal. I see "UDO" themed merch in your future, Rae'chel... 🙂
Awesome video! Editing and puns are both stellar. You are inspiring me to get fancy with magnets! Wondering where you get your magnets?? I want to try and use them to keep my multi layered dungeon (made from packing styrofoam for a monitor- which is bananas perfect for it) in place. Keep em coming! Love your attention to details.
Hey Rachel! Its great to see you! So pretty😊 Yeaa, a little bit warm atmosphere) You know it feels like you and Matt (RP Archive) from one channel - sounds a little bit similar, attentive and delicate approach of both, you are both so cool) One question - what kind of xps do you use - which density?
I really really like your videos. Please continue your work. Also try to talk a little more about the game you play with your awesome terrains and craft. Personnaly i will use it to play Rangers of shadow deeps, five leagues and One page rule Fantasy.
Love the videos, keep it up! I know a lot of your content is heavily influenced by RP Archive, but if I'm being honest, you do it better! Nothing against Matt, but I find I personally have to watch his videos multiple times, and pause them over and over to grasp the instructions and measurements (not even talking following along while crafting said video content). Your videos - for whatever reason I can't put my finger on - are clear, concise, easy to follow, and have the added bonus of fantastically themed puns. All this to say, if you would recreate YOUR version/spin of most of Matt's content, I'd be here for it! Either way, keep making these fantastic videos :D
I'm super flattered you find my instructions easy to follow and enjoyable haha. There are projects that I can see myself putting my own twist on, so there may be some down the pipeline 🤗
I've been thinking about making terrain out of trash I find. I live in a very windy area so it blows all around especially at the apartment complexes. I see a lot of amazing videos using MDF. I'm wondering if I can get a similar effect with layered recycled cardboard.
Also I know that this isn’t the focus of the video at all, but your nails are so pretty!! Mine always get worn down, and I blame it on crafting, but the _occasional_ nailbiting might have a little something to do with it… 🙈
Thank you! And yes, sanding would probably be faster, but sometimes I can't be bothered with employing proper safety measures to be sanding foam :P (filtered dust mask, vacuuming etc)
I love your videos! Great craft ideas and mediocre puns! Which are the best kind of puns!! 😂 I really appreciate the UDO warning on those tips. A lot of UA-cam crafter don't do that and it makes it seem like a fully necessary step, and then I am left having to sus out for myself which steps have to done no matter what and which ones are just them being anal about a detail. But not with you! As someone who could probably benefit from being a little MORE anal about details, I appreciate the "UDO" labels 😁
Thank you very much! I appreciate the feedback on UDO 😊 It is more of a necessity to do it with pieces under camera close-ups, but I know for myself how much more time it adds, which may not be needed for an at-home-game with friends. All this to say that I'm glad you found the UDO helpful!
He's still making content! He puts a lot of thought and heart into his system, so speaking as another creator, I totally get the time it takes to do what he does!
You are wonderful and talented and I love your videos. The puns are always super distracting though, I really don't see what they add, are they really necessary? 😕 I will always be a big fan regardless, just my unsolicited 2 cents. 🙂 Beautiful work as always!
Thank you very much for your kind words and delivery of your feedback! I know puns are definitely not everyone's cup of tea so I very much appreciate you bearing with them 😅

This talking head style video felt really calming and personal. As usual, what a great video. :)
Thank you! I'm glad it added to the vibes 😊
Agreed. Really liked this one. (:
More videos, more puns! I learned that I spell potato wrong, all because of you!
Thank you! And to be fair, I was not expecting a side of rap lyrics to emerge from crafting frustrations ahaha.
damn the amount of dopamine that is released in my body whenever I got that new Raechel video notification
LOL
These walls look so exotic (Minoan?) and yet still look ancient and vaguely Greco Roman also. So unique. I love it.
Please make more expansions in this style! Thanks!
Cheap tip - if you dont have a clay tool for doing the step at 3:10 you can use the edge or corner of a d6
Oh I would've never thought of that. Thanks for the tip!
This is the most detailed Terrain tutorial guide I have ever seen... Just wow...
Ahahaaa you're too kind 😅
Would be awesome to see some mountain terrain or caverns next :D
I totally relate to the undercurrent of mania. Crafting is my happy place, but can certainly be a deep rabbit hole. The puns are great. Love the video.
Yeah it can definitely be hard to walk that fine line between happy place and rabbit hole 😅 Thank you all around!
Interesting solution with the magnets
This was a cool project. Make more videos like this one.
Glad to see you back.
But I've been here the whooooole time 👐
These look SO good. Slicing layers off the outside of the foam and the brown ink wash do a ton of work to make these look and feel ruinous! Thank you very much, and you're welcome! 😊 Also, I'm getting that from a lot of the comments--people enjoy the UDO!
Amazing video and editing. Definitely subscribed!
I really like this. It's nice to see something a bit different to the usual ruins. And, yes, I would probably watch for the puns anyway.
I'm glad to have delivered on both accounts 🫡
