I just discovered The Big Bopper near the end of 2023, but this man easily brings a smile to my face. The world missed out on several good souls on that fateful day. RIP.
Lost my grandpa and hero in December he was friends with "jp" in the army and has an ashtray jp made while they served. My grandpa was the smartest kindest person, like alot of the silent generation he helped make this country what it is today, in all the positive ways. I'm sorry for your loss, it's a pain most of us can share and it's probably the hardest thing I'll ever go through.
Buddy chartered the plane and had no connection to the pilot until that night. Tommy Allsup lost the coin toss to Valens. Dion had already decided to take the bus to save the bus fare.
Today as I type this it’s February 3, 2023, the 64th anniversary of his, Buddy’s and Ritchie’s passing. I’ve been playing their music today. May they Rest in Peace. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I used to listen to Top 40 WABC radio, in the 1970s, when they ran 50s classics, on my AM radio station and this song just gave me the very BEST feeling as a little boy. RIP B.B. I love this guy.
So very talented. As were Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly. The world lost three brilliant musicians that day. Men who had decades of fantastic music ahead of them. May they all rest in peace. :(
When I was a kid, I thought that this was just a country song that I liked. I thought "The Big Bopper" was a style of music or dance. There are movies about Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly and yet, little was known about this great performer! Wow, he died young. Born the same year as my Uncle George! Underrated!!!!
Had he lived he would have been a good actor as well. The song entered both the Hot 100 and the top 40 on Aug 4, 1958 and remained there for 25 weeks which was almost the rest of his life. So sad to have a life cut short after six months of fame.
Ive been jamming to Buddy Holly Big Bopper And Ritchie Valens all week long, I mean I’ve always listened to their songs. But this week I’ve been so depressed and their songs just bring me peace.

Hello Karen, How are you doing?
R.I.P. Bopper,Buddy, and Ritchie. I remember my dad playing this song when I was a little girl in the 1970s.
FEBRUARY 3rd 1959 THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED.......REST IN PEACE J.P. RICHARDSON " The Big Bopper" GONE but NEVER forgotten, FOREVER missed!! Thank you for all the music and the memories................
Great music. Great artist. Pity they were taken from us all so soon, but I'm glad we can still enjoy their incredible talent.
What happened to the good old days when we had lots of oldes on the radio and times were so great back then and let's not forget about the show boat in Coventry Rhode island.
He was so underrated. The big bopper deserves so much credit for his contributions to rock and roll.
This is very entertaining and hilarious. It would have been great to see what else the Big Bopper could've made if he had lived longer.
The Big Bopper was The Best Singer of His Generation
What I love most about him was he was a real guy, not some teen bopper who got to fame on his looks alone, he had real talent and could really sing, who knows where he'd be today if he had only never been on that fateful plane, the same said for Richie Valens and Buddy Holly...the world lost these amazing musical angels, rip forever🙏
Hi Message Me Let Share Great Memories danielhangmanfilcek@gmail.com
So true. My late grandpa served with him in the army and he gave my grandpa an ashtray he made. Lost him in December and remembered the ashtray.
"On looks alone", who?
Безусловно - лучшее исполнение , И сам исполнитель вызывает всяческую симпатию ,
BB, Valens and Holly did such great things with such short lives.
Gone to soon Big Guy, RIP from Glasgow 😎🇬🇧👍
I remember this growing up in a different time and place. Far different the the times now. Simplicity was everything. This was the song. Loved it. Cute and very danceable
I totally agree The Big Bopper and the other two were/are greatest!
Guy was only 28 when he died, He was a DJ in Beaumont Texas. Where I was born..My parents remembered him on the radio.
And he was the oldest one on that crashed plane
Ritchie 17 😥
28?? Looks 45.
datdudeCollins Same with Ritchie. XD
Buddy Holly was 22, the plane pilot was only 21 and Richie Valens was only 17. They were all too young to die.
You know this guy was way ahead of his time you know I'm in Los Angeles California but this guy molded the fashion of rock and roll you know I know I'm missing Buddy Holly all the rock and roll guys you know I'm a throwback I'm 66 years old you know but that era I came up in it can't be beat you know God bless Buddy Holly and a big bopper and your family
Almost 30 years later and this song is still one of my favs at karaoke
Maths just a tad off
Great song. I'm a one man band on youtube. Hope you can enjoy one of my songs.
He was one of my favorites. His life was to short. Loved dancing to this song.
The Big Bopper was from Beaumont, Texas and was a disc jockey before he hit it big with this hit and i miss the big galote!!!!!!
To Paw Paw, who sent me this song in 1995 and I've been rocking a ponytail ever since, I miss you, Paw Paw! I love you!
I'm now 3 hours from being 24 years old, and I still love my aunt's uncle's song~
Are you 3 hours from being 30 now? Happy birthday

Remind me to come back in September to wish you a happy 31st
Hey now!! Gotta love the throw back to the throw back!! Me on True Romance and that movie with Chantilly Lace!! ❤️🔥👑

Man, I want even part of this generation and this song is still amazing.

I found his grave today while I was putting I was putting wreaths on veterans grave, it has a historical marker behind it.
On behalf of our USA MILITARY thank you. 💖🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🥁

That must have been cool!
I haven't done that since I was in the boy scouts! A lot of my fallen buddies just wanted to be rememebered.
Thank you, that means a lot.
What ??? What’s his name then ?!?
@@joenciso364 Jiles P Richardson, Jr. He's buried in Texas.
I was a 7 months old when that came out and my Dad loved that song. Sang it around the house for years. Delia Morris
Those were the days when the music was fantastic.
This Is ONE GREAT SONGS OF THE 50S I CRY WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE PLANE CRASH RIP
My late Great Uncle’s favourite song - he was the Big O, and he greeted them all with that iconic “Hello Baby!!” - RIP The Big Bopper and John Raymond Osborne
I've always loved this song!! A true 50's classic...
I just learned about the plane crash in music class about Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, And Richie Valens
I know, it's shocking.
When music was decent, funny and innocent!!! What have we become my God… True legend Big Bopper ❤ I would have loved seeing him! What if that plane never went down with 3 singers full of potential… 😢😢😢
Remember playing the record player over and over on this song❣️
When your having a crappy day.....put this on so all the neighbours can hear it.....it'll cheer them up too.....
