There are so many things going around in my head that I sometimes forget to add something into my videos. I should've mentioned that by shortening the front of the handles and discarding the front brace there is a trade off being made. Having an open wheel is great as there is no brace to catch on any undulating ground. But, the brace is used when tipping the barrow (especially with heavy loads) to rest on the ground, using the handles as levers to tip the load. If your load is light then this won't be an issue at all, it is very easy to tip a barrow full of leaves, weeds etc without the front brace. Even a heavy load isn't too difficult. But you would need to be more careful as the weight distribution of the load shifts as you lift and the barrow can come back towards you. It can't come back too far as the front lip of the tub will hit the ground if you let it get that far. Also with a heavy load you need to give a little more effort as you don't have a pivot point to help you out. It would also be possible to put your one foot against the wheel to stop it coming back. If you restore or make new handles for your wheelbarrow then it's something to consider. I take any weeds, leaves etc through my paddock to dump them in an area out of the way and it's quite a distance over swales and undulations and I can tell you the open wheel is fantastic and I can definitely live without the front brace. The ideal scenario is to have two wheelbarrows, one with a brace and one without! :)
Tailss1 I love the idea nice and simple but it should work if I pinch the locking handles from the old dead lawn mower that are used for folding down the handle to save on floor space 😹😹😹 thanks for a great idea 😹😹😹
Really enjoyed this video and the clever way you bent that thin walled pipe. I have done similar barrow repairs but always retain the front brace for standing the barrow against a wall to limit rust in the tub. Have learnt a lot from your videos, thanks.
You know something I like best about watching your posts (aside from the soothing sound effects the videos have when on time-lapse)? Your ingenuity. I'd have never thought to use a piece of rounded steel as a guide to bend the piping into the shape I needed. Lacking that kind of creativity, I'd have just bought or rented the pipe bending equipment.
Yet again you have found a way around not having all the equipment needed. For eg no pipe bending gear. Very inspirational, cheers mate. Loved it of course.
My old barrow may get this treatment. Great practical way to resurrect a useless wheelbarrow. Nice steady hand when painting the wheel! Backhand too...
You make great videos man! And I think: not only they are instirational and educational ... but they are much needed in this materialistic word... To see how you can reclaim something into use... Well done!
Very nice. I just refurbished my wheelbarrow too, but I used the original plastic spacers under the tub. I think I'm going to take it back apart and make wood spacers like you did.
Even when restoring an old wheelbarrow, the amount of care you bring to this simple project is wonderful. I think a lot of people (at least in the US) would have tossed the old wheelbarrow out and replaced it with a new one.
I really like how you make do with what you have for the most part. Like forming the radius with a vise and round steel pieces. Some would have went out and bought a pipe bender.
Great job I was considering chucking my old wheel barrow that I inherited off my grandfather. It must be at least 50years old but you’ve inspired me to give it another chance
Have an old wheelbarrow that I need to restore. Already decided to eliminate the brace in front of the wheel but I might just use your idea for bracing behind it. Good video. Thanks.
Like how you combine power tools and hand tools. One shot at the chop saw, next shot using a hand plane. Also, liked your improvised pipe bending equipment.
A job well done, practically a new barrow for a bit of your time which you probably enjoyed doing it and a few bits of scrap material, I love to see old stuff given a new lease of life, gets 5 ☆ from me
In recently rebuilt my thirty year old wheelbarrow. I liked your re engineering of various features. All were improvements. I may go back and eliminate the front brace as you suggested. A couple of things that could have been improved: The biggest weakness I observed on my barrow was corroded bolt threads on mild steel bolts. I wound up cutting the bolts off since the threads were mostly gone. That argues for replacing volts and hardware with galvanized fittings which will minimize corrosion ---and greasing up the threads, too. I would have recommended taking the tire off the wheel and derusting and finishing the inside of the wheel. A major reason for wheelbarrow failure is a tire that wont hold air, usually because the steel surface of the wheel wont fit the tire properly. And finally --- for everyone! Your wheelbarrow needs to be taken apart, repainted and the bolts greased. I would have suggested after ten years, but perhaps fewer would be better. If the wood and metal parts are primed and painted, they can be expected to provide reliable service much longer!
Yet again, and as always..a well made video showing some really useful ideas; but most importantly with a great feel good factor! Your vids always make me smile . Thank you : )
After watching this video a second time, mine needs some renovating so I’ve decided to get some ideas from this. Even though it won’t turn out a patch on yours Noel, it’ll be a lot better than what’s on it at the moment plus the bucket is galvanised too which is a bonus 😉
> What about the bolts? My experience is that corroded bolts are a major impediment, since they prevent the barrow from being easily taken apart, primed, painted and reassembled. If you can get the thing apart, I found that priming and repainting everything was light work.
When I first saw the title of this video, I laughed and thought that this was just going to be knock the rust off and air up the tire restoration. Well, it turned out to be considerably more. Good job. That ought to last for another generation.
We have one of the same crappy wheel barrows! Really superb job on its upgrade. I'm sure I will thank you when I've put a similar amount of time and effort into fixing ours! Cheers, David
I only thought very recently why I haven't ever seen you use Jarrah or Keruing wood as it's from area .. and then I stumbled across this ..lol I have some Jarrah here in the UK that I got that use to be railway sleepers.. ! Thks
One of the many things I like about you and your videos, is that you are VERY innovative! My wife complains about me keeping junk stuff but I may need it to make or fix something, right? I’m surprised the dogs didn’t jump out. That’s a really high hedge you have there! Reminds me of the kids movie “Secret Garden” where the kids found a door behind the hedge into the garden. But you have a tunnel so that should suffice - haha.
Once again, just a great job! (So glad I found your channel; you have such a "down-to-earth" way of creating/fixing your projects! And here *I* am fussing with creating a "Soul-soothing Asian chopstick case" for my wife's birthday! But I kinda doubt she'd much like me giving her a fixed-up wheel barrow, if you know what I mean.)
😹😹😹love the restoration job on the wheelbarrow I have 2 that need some TLC and like you my plot is not flat so the front brace/brake gets in the way all the time. I noticed someone made a suggestion of making a movable one which I thought was a great idea this way when needed I can drop it down when I need to use one 😹😹love the idea nice and simple but it should work if I pinch the locking handles from the old dead lawn mower that are used for folding down the handle to save on floor space 😹😹😹
I Love your dogs! You are awesome! Have you ever tried to make a wooden chandelier with all those fancy pieces in wood instead of glass especially some great wood color. That would be an awesome project. You could hang it in your work shop.
Love the doggies lol. Yes I will be restoring mine at some point . It belonged to my Father in-law and they don't make them like that anymore. Great stuff Mate
Good job, Pask. Those scrapers work wonderfully, don't they? Slide a hook onto one and make shavings. Nice restoration. On that last test drive, I detected an imbalance in your mower. Time to straighten that up, Mate. ;)
I guess that a (No ants were harmed during making of this video) phrase should be emphasized :-)) .Giving a new life for old tools is always my favourite kind of videos .
Your puppies are so cute that I think I've just died from cuteness overdose! Not a bad way to go, really. Lol. :-) Awesome job on the wheelbarrow! I've got a wheelbarrow in need of similar attention, but I've been putting it off because I worried I might screw up; I don't have a bandsaw or table saw, but I suspect that that just made it easier, right? I have a jigsaw, and a circular saw, plus several handsaws, so I can probably manage, don't you think?

Or perhaps one wheel barrow and a detachable front brace of some kind? Great video!!
I'd keep that front brace/brake!
A brace made of metal that is hinged and can be lifted up when not wanted.
Tailss1 I love the idea nice and simple but it should work if I pinch the locking handles from the old dead lawn mower that are used for folding down the handle to save on floor space 😹😹😹 thanks for a great idea 😹😹😹

Have learnt a lot from your videos, thanks.
Doing it this weekend! Right after I build a block plane, timber gate, workbench storage, swing out seat, etc..
You're going to busy mate - you need to keep up! ;)

The two cute dogs finished the video off very well. Thumbs Up for the project and the dog section.
Nice job of fabricating the replacement parts. This is the best wheelbarrow restoration video I’ve seen so far. Thanks for sharing!
Mate... loved the resto you did on the wheelbarrow. It’s great giving new life to old things.
It certainly is Vic! :)
Nicely done restoration. You know, of course, that your dogs stole the show. They seemed to really enjoy the ride there at the end!
They really did enjoy it in there! :)
Very nice. I just refurbished my wheelbarrow too, but I used the original plastic spacers under the tub. I think I'm going to take it back apart and make wood spacers like you did.
I like how you fixed up that old wheelbarrow! Very nice.
Nothing is quite as nice as sprucing up the ol' wheels. Nicely done.
Even when restoring an old wheelbarrow, the amount of care you bring to this simple project is wonderful. I think a lot of people (at least in the US) would have tossed the old wheelbarrow out and replaced it with a new one.
Thanks Jeff! It's better now than it's ever been! :)
I love the glued center support idea, thanks!
I really like how you make do with what you have for the most part. Like forming the radius with a vise and round steel pieces. Some would have went out and bought a pipe bender.
Thanks Donnie! I will be buying a pipe bender though at some point, if I don't make one first! :)
Excellent restauration Pask.
This was awesome! Specially liked how you made the legs with pipe and minimal bending tools. Gained a new subscriber from Chile 🇨🇱 .
Thanks Fernando! :)
Mr P is never disappointing-a satisfying project.
Wonderful job Pask , well worth my time to watch & the doggie’s added a nice touch , keep up the good work, your an inspiration
Great job
I was considering chucking my old wheel barrow that I inherited off my grandfather. It must be at least 50years old but you’ve inspired me to give it another chance
That's great to hear mate! :)
Have an old wheelbarrow that I need to restore.

Good video. Thanks.
It's a good thing I don't know where you live! I might never leave you alone with those adorable dogs!
Loved the project too!
Nicely done! Love the ending. Thanks for sharing!
Like how you combine power tools and hand tools. One shot at the chop saw, next shot using a hand plane. Also, liked your improvised pipe bending equipment.
I've got a wheel barrow that needs the same sort of treatment, it's a lot older wheel barrow with a steel wheel. Loved the pair of Eddies.
Felt happy watching the dogs enjoying the ride! 💗
Fantastic rebuild, really liked how you bent the galvanized tube brilliant 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A job well done, practically a new barrow for a bit of your time which you probably enjoyed doing it and a few bits of scrap material, I love to see old stuff given a new lease of life, gets 5 ☆ from me

Nice restoration. Good tip on using the the galvanize. Stay well, Joe Z
Very nice indeed and some really good ideas in there about working with tubing and more. Thank you!
u saved my project with brace behind wheel. Cross brace is best too. Your filmography is great.
You are so talented, and your babies are adorable!

Excellent resto and equally excellent vid.
Great job on the restoration!! Tougher than the other one.
Brilliant job! That was worth watching, thanks for sharing!!!
What a great job you did Pask! You can’t go wrong if the dogs love it! Good music at the end too. Great overall.
Hello, now the wheelbarrow looks great again. Wouuuuuuuu. Better than the new. 👍 👍 👍 👍 Greetings from Martin
Well you did it again.... A great upgrade and it will support you an other 7 years 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
We have one of the same crappy wheel barrows! Really superb job on its upgrade. I'm sure I will thank you when I've put a similar amount of time and effort into fixing ours! Cheers, David
As always your creative problem solving is impressive and inspiring. Great video
Such a cool restoration man! :) and it looks so much more alive and beautiful with the wood... great!
Thanks mate! :)
This brought a smile to my face... Love it!
J'adore la restauration de la brouette.
Love the project and the Jack Russels
You should have put a little hollow on the back brace for when the wheel barrow is weighted and the tires warp.
Another job well done. So love that little plane. Keep up the good work 💪
I only thought very recently why I haven't ever seen you use Jarrah or Keruing wood as it's from area .. and then I stumbled across this ..lol I have some Jarrah here in the UK that I got that use to be railway sleepers.. ! Thks

Thanks! Glad you like the videos! The dogs really liked it in there! :)
Love the end whit the dogs ! Great channel
I'm hoping to fix my old wheelbarrow mate. I need to fabricate the legs as well. The EMT legs were brilliant! Thanks for posting.
Your dogs really enjoyed the ride.

A fixed up wheelbarrow would definitely be a poor gift! ;)
Beautiful wood! Great project and adorable dogs :D

Nothing goes bad on Pask's shop! Nice job...
Not sure about that! ;) Thanks!
I love your new editing style.
I have a feeling someone will be making a metal bender soon... not pointing any fingers. 😉 Love the restoration.
I think you're right Hakeem, not sure quite when though! :)
Love your dogs! Great video thanks.
Great job.The wood look like IPE or iron wood. That wood can last forever...!
I'm totally jealous of your shop!!
loved this video. Fantastic work!
I Love your dogs! You are awesome! Have you ever tried to make a wooden chandelier with all those fancy pieces in wood instead of glass especially some great wood color. That would be an awesome project. You could hang it in your work shop.

Great job. The dogs were happy)
Great job Neil! I was just using mine this past week and was thinking I should give her an upgrade😁😊👍
Thanks Jed! Put it on the to-do list! ;)
absolutely Neil !!
Good job, Pask. Those scrapers work wonderfully, don't they? Slide a hook onto one and make shavings. Nice restoration. On that last test drive, I detected an imbalance in your mower. Time to straighten that up, Mate. ;)
Nice job! 👍
Great video! Got some great ideas for rebuilding mine!
I can tell you it's better than before.
Nice Work There Mate
Great job mate!
Nice video! I like the reclaimed wood! :D
Still a really nice replacement though mate regardless of the front brace.. like you say, great for lite loads
Awesome work mate.
I guess that a (No ants were harmed during making of this video) phrase should be emphasized :-)) .Giving a new life for old tools is always my favourite kind of videos .
Thumbs up, mate. 👍
Great revival there. Got my puppers fix to boot👌
Glad you liked it mate! :)
This is wonderful, man 😍😍
Great work as usual 👍
Ant house to cool wheelbarrow! Awesome rebuild! : )
very nice job ....... love those dogs
That’s a lot of good ideas in one short video.
Thanks Pete! :)
Pask Makes no worries.
Agreed.
Just magnificent! i absolutely love it!
Thanks Avrahami - glad you liked it! :)
great video 👍 🐶
Your wheelbarrow has nicer wood than one of my cutting boards.... Good work
Well done!
Wow beautiful work pask
That's a lot of process. Too much patience for me lol. well done !
Bravissimo, molto molto simpatico e un ottimo lavoro. I tuoi cani mi sembravano molto felici ;)
Grazie! :)
Nice rebuild.
The ant in the tube! Lol!
Absolutely awesome results. What kind of wood was that? I seem to never be able to start on my project wheelbarrow rebuild but someday...
Excelent work, men!! You are the best!!!)
Love the puppies !
Flies everywhere, even in the tramp tubes. But I think your work is fantastic i love your channel.
Thanks Marvin! :)
Your puppies are so cute that I think I've just died from cuteness overdose! Not a bad way to go, really. Lol. :-) Awesome job on the wheelbarrow! They certainly are cute Giotto! You can do most of what's achieved on a bandsaw with a jigsaw. You have enough tools there to get the job done! :)
