The performance of the child-like Empress is truly one of the best and most memorable pieces of acting I've ever seen from a child. Just one scene, yet it stole the show.
Agreed! She stood out to me even as a child. Remarkable actress.
same here. absolutely life-changing as a child. that scene was everything
Yep! I am absolutely shocked that she had no prior experience.
So true. I still remember her years later.
I remever crying to that scene and the scene when the horse died.
They all followed their dreams, now that is an eloquent and fitting never ending story after all... 🌟💓🙏🥰
Agreed. Noah Seems like Macauley Culkin in So Many Ways ...
@@frankbonini9128 not even close. Macaulay Culkin never wanted to act but was forced to by his father and quit when his father was out of his life. Hathaway just had other things he wanted to do
It's wonderful to hear stories of child stars that had happy endings.
Seriously! So often, Hollywood devours its own young. Happy endings are precious!
Except according to Corey Feldman, Noah Hathaway he didn't have a happy childhood...
Omg, I had a big time crush on Atrieu when I was a little girl.
The child like Empress was so beautiful.
Yes, and I had a big time crush on the child-like Empress when I was a little boy!
She was in a dance musical in NYC. It was a small, off Broadway show. Somehow I found out about it, I don’t remember now. And I bought tickets to the show. I sat in the front row. It was a musical about the ocean. That’s pretty much all I remember. She danced in it and she had on a mermaid like costume. I was so happy to see her! I wish I would have thought to ask to go backstage to meet her but I just left after the show.
So did I. 😂😂😂😂 I came to see what he looks like now.
@@loki.demeticus We named our son after Atreyu too. He was also diagnosed with Autism.
@@loki.demeticus We named our son after Atreyu too. He was also diagnosed with Autism.
started watching it in 84 and still watching today
The theme song is on here! I listen to it daily !
Same ✌️
I'm 16 and this was my childhoold
@@misanthropic985 I love the score as well.
Thats why it’s called the never ending story. You can watch it forever.
I met Noah Hathaway back in 2015 in Knoxville at Fanboy......he was a strait up cool dude. Got to talk to him for like 20 minutes. He loves the vets so got to really talk alot with him.
So cool you got to meet him and I had a little crush on him
Did he have a nice package?
@@PlanTonto da fa?
❤️🌌🗺🌎🌍🌏 Mm glad ta hear it sounds like fun he seems like a total sweet❤️ fun energetic always in a good mood rasin a family
Yeah
Wow. The message of the movie seems to be about following your dreams. And that’s what all the actors, especially the main actor did. This somehow makes me love the movie even more!!
Noah Hathaway was also in the old Battlstar Galactica from the late 1970's. He played the character of the little boy Boxy, Apollo's adopted son.
I remember watching the never ending story when l was a kid it's such a amazing movie
Et and never ending...I cry in both.
I was a kid ok?!
I'm sorry.😒
I took Tami's guest teacher class and she was great. her dance/choreography were beautiful. her dance mostly are post - modern
Thank goodness that I wasn't the only one who thought that Falkor was a dog at first. I saw The Neverending Story when I was around 8 and thought that Falkor was a funny looking dog. As I gradually became older and have more understanding about the movie, I realized that Falkor was a luck dragon with a puppy looking face😂
I saw it when I was a kid in the 80s I think I was about seven or eight I always thought it was a flying dog
Dragon .
Falkor was the largest puppet in history. It's stored in a museum in Bavaria, Germany
I doubt that
@@christopherporter2459what do you doubt? That it’s a puppet, pretty sure it is, or that it’s in Germany, because it is
I had such a crush for Atreyu ♥️😁
A beautiful way to let everyone see how the actors had more to their lives then just that movie. And are happy to be doing what they love. As you said "They are normal people. Like you and I" Something people forget about actors. Falcor was the one that surprised me the most. Since I grew up watching all those cartoon shows.
Thank you for giving us an update to the actors! This movie was a part of so many people's childhoods.
I’m screaming because this guy thinks chicks had crushes on Bastian. We liked Atreyu!!
Yes ma’am Atreyu was my crush bastian was in the way sometimes 😂😂😂
Atreyu had a more androgynous look which was very popular in the early and mid eighties.
Bastian was the sweet little nerdy wimplet. I felt like I had lots in common with him, but I really *wished* I could be more like Atreyu. Way braver, more confident, more selfless, and *tremendously* more athletic than poor Bastian.
Took me freaking forever, and I’m no longer young, but I’m finally more balanced, having earned *some* of what made Atreyu worthy of respect, without losing who I was.
@@yesthatbruceHe was the sort to tough it out and keep going tho. Part of what made him so awesome.
I had a crush on Bastian(Barret...im male)and my younger sister adored Noah Hathaway. 😅 This movie always felt like the last classic kids movie.
I never knew who played these awesome characters in this fantastic movie but I love and cherish this movie since my childhood. This is one movie that I will never get tired of. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
One of my favorite movies!!!My mother is the one who absolutely adored this movie and she turned me on to it.The Nothing!!Great, Where Are They Now!!!!Love you mom!
I actually just went and watched this at my local theater today. With Hollywood not putting out new releases my local theater has been showing all the classics for the month they have been open
Ours has been doing that too. It's been nice actually
I think it's cool what Barret is doing now. Some of his artwork is in museums & has been featured in movies.
Wow, thank you so much for doing this video! This is my ALL-TIME fave! I’m taking my 9 year old to see it in theaters July 21-22! I’m so happy they’re putting it in theaters for the 40th anniversary!!!♥️
Noah Hathoway was the star of the movie Troll in his teens. He didn't quit acting for 20 years right after The Neverending Story.
There's a moment when Atreyu is blown out of the tree, and you can see the stunt double. So I'm guessing there were a few stunts he wasn't allowed to do
My first boyfriend was so amazing so sweet and kind. He lives in heaven and I'm sure he watches this as I watch all the of the songs that we dance to and our minds we never forget. I loved watching this movie with him brings tears and me being a teenager 16 and in love
Thank you for this wonderfull story.
Ok
You were on plenty of fish huh?
"TO THE WINCH, WENCH!" will forever be a thing.
Up till today when I listen the sound track of the neverending story (Falkor flight), I get emotional.. I really miss the simpler days of the 80s...
Wish I could go back!
We all do.... Am from 79
You know what's up! :)
Barret Oliver was in the Knight Rider Pilot in case you didn't know. He was great in "Daryl" and the Cocoon movies. I'll have to keep my eye out for Tami Stronach in her future roles.
Yes daryl the robot boy, i member him...
Tami Stronach actually had no prior on-screen movie appearance before arbitrarily selected for the role of the child-like Empress, that's truly impressive for a little girl's portrayal of so much emotions, including her tears flowing from her eyes she cried on screen!
All those actors were truly organic. Something that I think many miss the mark on. Glad to see that they went to pursue what they truly wanted to do in life.
I was one of the biggest never-ending story fans. In high school jewelry class I made the Orin necklace pendent with brass and Nicole silver !! It took forever to cut the inner snake patterns !! This movie rocked my world at age 13 !! I hope you fans read the book. I still enjoy the soundtrack while driving !!
When we were kids we had to wait until my aunt, that had cable, recorded it to a VHS tape. We watched it repeatedly until the sound wore out of it🤟❤😊
Lol, yeah we have to wait till it was on TV in the UK!!!
Awesome that you uploaded this video! Netflix has The Neverending Story original and part 2 so I recently saw it a again a few days ago. Forget Bastian as a childhood crush, I liked Atreyu as a kid! 💜
@@SpookyElectric319 yep! He definitely was!
My favorite movie from my childhood and i still watch it and i'm 49 years now and i still love it ♡♡
One of my childhood favourite movies!!
Barret surprises me the most. Not his choices, but the fact that he has the ability to transform himself into someone completely unrecognizable from his childhood image. Would you recognize him if you haven’t seen this video ?
Nope! Just like you wouldn't recognize George Costanza 8" taller, a full head of hair and a beard.
No way !
not at all..his hair look awful now
Why would that surprise you? The dude obviously "transformed" himself on purpose because he doesn't want to be recognized by fans of The Neverending Story or any of the other films he was in. He wants to be left alone and doesn't want to be bothered.
Noah Hathaway was actually a dancer for Michael Jackson after the NVS film. He stars in his Pepsi commercial with Carlton Banks from Fresh Prince of Belaire if you look closely
4s Over3s: Noah Hathaway was, also, Boxey (the little boy), in Battlestar Galactica and in an episode of Family Ties as Jennifer's first boyfriend.
He was also in Cocoon.
Hathaway appeared in a famed Lazer Tag commercial in the mid 80s.
@@apryLwitha_why Wasn't it Barrett Oliver?
@@SpookyElectric319 You're right. My mistake. I was thinking of the main character in Never ending story.
I've met Noah Hathaway. He is a nice guy. His doggies are sweet.
What a great video! Thank you for making this.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😁😁
This was such a nice well done video. Thank you.
mrock828, your support is truly appreciated! 🤗 Your kind words mean so much to us! 🙏
This film meant SO much to me growing up in the 80s. I've just read that next year will be it's 40th anniversary 😮😮😮 A film that would have been 40 years old in 1984 would have come out in 1944 🤯
Anyway, like others have said, thank you for this positive and respectful video, I enjoyed it a lot ❤
Remake will begin soon
Xcellent video OSSA.
1 exception though, what I can remember right now, Limahl had another huge hit years ago called "Too Shy Shy"
Im so happy they became such Self-Individuated folk instead of chasing fame they went off to start their own neverending stories. ✨✨💖✨💖✨💖✨✨
The NeverEnding Story song was composed by Giorgio Moroder ( yes, this famous "grandfather of disco" ), Limahl only performed this song.
Lovely update on our childhood's mot beloved films... thank you!
I’ve meet Noah last week he is so nice! The best person ever
My 9 year old grandson loves these movies
Jeez, Noah Hathaway became a tattoo-artist. Unbelievable he was so very handsome then as a horse-riding and Luck dragon-flying 'indigenous' child actor in the 1984 film show with a fantastic storyline for children! In was born in 1982, so being a toddler in 1984, didn't know what great children's fantasy films were produced then by Hollywood.
No mention of the horse? I cried so hard the first time I watched that scene. The swamp of sadness and the bog of eternal stench are two things I will always remember from my childhood.
noah has such a free lucky honest smile
Correction: Limahl had adopted that stage name before joining Kajagoogoo (see the liner notes for the first album), and it's pronounced lih-MALL, with the emphasis on the second syllable.
"Limmell" lol
I have the DVD going to go watch it now ! Thanks for the background information.
I love the theme song.started watching limahl performing it on youtube and this song is in my head every day.great music and lyrics
You forgot about D. A. R. Y. L
Oh yeah! I loved that movie ! Cute name and cute pic, you’re so pretty 😍
@@misanthropic985 😎
And cocoon. 1 & 2
I liked the video. It was interesting knowing a bit more about the actors. Barret Oliver was already familiar to me as a kid. He starred in 1982 with David Hasselhoff in the 90-minute pilot movie of Knight Rider. More intriguingly, that same year, Alan Oppenheimer also guest-starred in Knight Rider in an episode called Deadly Maneuvers. He returned during Season 3 playing a different character in an episode called Custom Made Killer. I didn't knew he was such an awesome actor and voice actor.
Wasn't Alan the original Rudy Wells in the Six Million Dollar Man?
I always thought the person that sung the theme song was a woman. Thanks for this awesome video! My cousin was the father in the Never Ending Story 2.
@GhostCat he won't talk to me anymore... difference of political opinion and he wasn't as inclusive as he said... oh well...
I always thought his father was Doctor Phil
Is there a part 2!?
@@b.anoniem9007 there's a part 2 and 3 but each film has different actors...
Actually, Barret Oliver's "hobby" is pretty damn cool and I know a lot of Steampunk enthusiasts who follow his work.
My employer tore down a historic building some years ago, and a guy came in to take photos in that style. For all I know I could have been following Barret around while he took photos. I was intrigued by the process for sure.
@@Uriah625 probably...very few people are into that field.
Bastian became a eccentric historical photography enthusiast with hipster beard and dreads Who is most likely lives a vegan lifestyle in forest somewhere spending his days in sweet solidarity and nature.
And I dig it,👍 the coolest career path ever!
He became a freak
Bastian in the movie: Being different is ok.
Bastian in the book: I wanna look Asian.
Did he want to look Asian?? I know he wanted a turban and Indian styled clothing, but all I remember it saying about his face was that it was thin and handsome 🤔 the whole second half of the novel is about Bastian learning to love and accept itself
'Barrot was every girl's first crush' No. I tolerated him so I could see Atreyu. Still do 😉
Every girl and some boys' crush as well! :)
@@PlanTonto Oh gross...lol : )
@@whatareyoulookingat908 Gross??? Really???
Haha I was team Atreyu too 😉
@@SpookyElectric319 Nope.
I saw the movie as a kid, and it shaped me for life. Then I heard that the book author Michael Ende hated it. Everyone who read the book told me the same. I never read the book, though - maybe an item to put onto the bucket list.
I read the book after seeing the movie. Loved them both. The book also includes what became Neverending Story 2 (not so loving that one; it was okay).
I remember Noah Hathaway as Boxey on Battlestar Galactica.
To this day, Atreyu is still my favorite name because this movie.
OMG! I love that movie! When I saw the scene where those little boys were crying when Artax (the horse), died in the Swamp of Sadness, I wanted to reach out to the screen to comfort both of them in my arms. That scene still choaks me up.
That scene marked childhood of kids in the 80’s
@@morrisreno '80s*
I think you mean "chokes." 😛
Their story will never end as long as someone remembers them
Hey, you missed the most important character…The beat white horse, what happened to him? When his character died, it killed me. Even until this day I still get tears in my eyes. OMG! 😢
Barret Oliver for sure the more dramatic change!!!
Loved it all . Thanks so much.
Atreyu was my first childhood crush! It was the long hair and vest for me 😍
I really enjoyed how you highlight the best in each actor and send them good wishes in their future projects. I must say very good video, well informed, perfect balance! Kudos to you 😊
Bro I'm 40 and the Artex in the swamps of sadness scene has been making me cry ever since
“Moonchild!!!!”
Loved reading this. I introduced this film to my nearly 7 yr old daughter yesterday so this video was a great find!
This movie meant so much to me as a kid that I had to do a cover of the song. Still love the movie
Surprisingly all the kids in the Neverending Stories have the same faces even though they are old now.
Dark 🖤🖤 Wolf Gmork was My child favorite Evil Wolf villain
I loved the turtle and named a pet turtle after it.
Shannonm75: Morla the Ancient One?
Nothing against the Atreyu in the sequel, but, Noah literally embodied the role in the 1st film.
I love Bastian, I imagined he was my baby brother..didnt know he was my age😅. Thank you to include Barret in this update ❤
Thank you. Great to see them all. Loved Tami, such a doll, then and now.
You never spoke about Bastian's dad or the Bookshop owner.
Or the bullys from scool!!!!
Tanx man for this vid. Im from Philippines. I really loved 80 s movies and musics. I was born on 1980. In my openion no 80 s is the best generation. Sorry guys that only my opinion.
Loving the Joni Mitchell memorabilia behind you. ❤️
1984???? How time flys????
thank you for all these information. Fun fact: you can see the original Falcor in Munich, where it was filmed, and you can ride it :)))
Falkor*
Barrett Oliver was also DARRYL. Can’t believe Hollywood didn’t remake that movie yet.
i remember as a kid having a crush on the empress hehe
For some reason, it feels like this movie was never real. It always felt like a fever dream
The first sequel of the movie was the best from soundtrack, casts to visual effects. Love it!
I love this movie I was 6 years old when this movie came out in 1984 I remember this wonderful movie when I was a kid.
Bless all these people for enriching my childhood.
Lovely and respectful video!
It's still a vivid memory of my parents taking my sister and me to rent this movie when I was four years old. It's my favorite movie ever
My mother actually went to dance school with the childlike empress.
He was also on Battlestar Galactica
One of my favorite movies of ALL time 👌
Thanks for the updates.
You're welcome, Gerald! 🤗✨🤗 We're glad you enjoyed our video. Is there anything specific about The Neverending Story you'd like to see more of on our channel? Let us know in the comments, and we'll see what we can do! 🙏
Great video!!
Why does this kid look so much like Will Byers from Stranger Things
What happened to Falcor? Hope he wasn't put down and a nice family took him in.
You can visit him at the Bavaria studios near Munich. They give tours and on those tours they invite kids to sit on Falcor in front of a green-screen, so that they can watch themselves soaring over Fantasia.
And yeah, I was there and yeah, I've done that. But it was a bit disappointing for me as a kid, because it drove the point home that all of that was just fake.
He was an adorable creature indeed, he was bisexual and very promiscuous, besides he didn’t like too much to use condoms. Falcor died of AIDS in 1989 :-(
@@magalymayimbumelcocha1004 Not true or else how could he appaer in both sequels in 1990 and 1993?
