10 Minutes: Building my Off Road Subaru Forester

- Today we take 10 minutes to recap the last 4 years of building the off road Subaru Forester. From the first video, the walk around to the latest adventures we cover it all. What started as a few simple mods like wheels and mudflaps quickly turned into rust removal, an ARB roof rack and a rooftop tent. After that, we got into the interior with a full blackout on the trim and headliner. Then finally it was time to focus on the offroad parts including, Flatout offroad coilovers, all-terrain tires and Black Rhino bead locks. With that came a sway bar delete, custom offroad bumper and transmission cooler. Is this the perfect off road Subaru Forester build? Let me know down below!
The Forester: Built over a few years the 2004 Subaru Forester XS was built to test the limits of what is capable in an early 2000's Subaru with bolt-ons. Created for overlanding adventures it takes on the hardest offroad trails while having everything for camping. The Forester features: custom interior, rooftop tent, ARB rack with custom mounts, high clearance bumper, winch, Hella lights, transmission cooler, sway bar delete, offroad coilovers, AT tires, Beadlock wheels, overland kitchen and engine and trans skid plates. And to many people's surprise often keeping up with full-size 4x4s.

What do you think of the build? What should I do next?
Wow, this should have way more views than it has got. Awesome job with the car and the video! 🤩
Thank you, I guess UA-cam doesn’t like me hahaha, plenty more coming!
Send me your company’s phone number please
I really liked this video. It was put together really well, and makes me remember past videos of yours that I watched. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos, Chase. 😁
Thanks, it was a lot of fun to make! Lot’s more coming!!
Sick breakdown of your Foz, it looks amazing after all the work you put into it; definitely inspiring my 2015 build out. Keep up the good work and I'm sure your channel will blow up, the offroad trail videos are killer!
Thanks, happy to hear that I inspired you! Hahaha that would be cool, new videos every week!
Great build!👍🏼

Thank you, this is just phase one ;) It is a prototype bumper for my company Flat 4 Offroad, we don't have any plans for production right now! If we do put it production I will be sure to make an announcement!
Nice job on that Forester, I'm from Kenya and I have a Forester SG5 NA and a WRX STi, blobeye. For the forester I have off-road tires and the STi is basically stock. Can't wait to make the Forester a proper off-road like yours 👏🏾
Thanks, I still have a lot of things I want to it! Sweet, I have an 04 STi too!
@@Chase_Schrader I'll be following and taking notes, because I'm planning to make the Forester a proper off-road hopefully like yours and I can't wait.
Great! Lots more to come!
I need more info on the radio mount and phone holder please!!!! Video cut it out partially. What are the names of the products
They are ProClip mounts! You can find the full video here: ua-cam.com/video/fvWTyvVUqcM/v-deo.html
Where did you get those phones holder and for the radio aswell?
They are ProClip Mounts, you can find the install video here: ua-cam.com/video/fvWTyvVUqcM/v-deo.html
I do like that front bar work too pity it wasnt available in australia
Haha thanks, maybe we will ship a weld together kit there!
Bravo my friend...Car is looking good....How much does it weigh with all the stuff on it?
Thanks! You know what, I'm not sure hahaha, I haven't weighted it
Where did you get the bumper replacement from? I have this same exact car and cannot find many options for a bumper replacement.
It is a prototype for my company Flat 4 Offroad, we are looking at getting some weld together kits made soon!
Hey man, planning on doing a 2 inch lift to my 05 forester XS and am planning on going to slightly bigger tires. I want to get an A/T tire when I do that but don’t want something that will ruin my drive on pavement and MPG (do about 80% daily driving). Any suggestions? Was looking at the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail since they are also snow rated and relatively lightweight in the size I want (29 ish pounds).
Hmmm definitely go with a P rated A/T tire! I would stick with the 215, my 225 LT is definitely a bit heavier! I don’t have a lot of information regarding MPG but I have heard good things a about the Wildpeaks! Another option could be the Geolander A/T!
@@Chase_Schrader ok sweet thanks! Was looking at 215/70/16 for the size I believe (sticking with stock wheels for now to save $ lol)
No problem, ah yeah that makes sense!
Where can I get Pro Form Pro Pak fv16 paint in the US? Where can I buy it and have it shipped?
Pro Form Pro Pak is just a type of custom mixed spray paint. I would recommend visiting your local paint shop and seeing if they can make you up a spray can of your car's colour!
Chase what is the wheel and tire setup I want to put those on my 2014 2.5i premium
They are 15x7 Gravel Beadlock Black with Toyo Open Country AT III Tires 225/75R15 102T! I would recommend checking out the install video to see what I had to go make them fit: ua-cam.com/video/-KWGYW9gepE/v-deo.html
what. is the model of your phone mount ? where can I purchase it from
It is a Proclip mount! You can check them out here: www.proclipusa.com/products/853119-proclip-angled-mount-subaru-forester-2003-2007-us
Nice build! What beadlock rims are they please? Brand and model
Thanks! They are Black Rhino Gravel Beadlocks, unfortunately they are discontinued at this time
No wonder could not find then rare set@@Chase_Schrader
Yeah, I still have to find a spare ahaha
was that metal bumper custom made or do you have a link?
It is a prototype for my company Flat 4 Offroad, we are looking a possibly making a weld together kit soon!
How much is you car now lifted with the coilovers? Thanks. Subscribed.
With the coilovers I would say 1.5in because I set them pretty low. I could go 2.5in if I wanted!
I've got a question. I've got a 2009 Forester. I've got stock tires/wheels on them right now. The tire size is 225/55r17. I wanted to get some A/T tires with the same size, so I don't necessarily need to change the wheels as of yet. It'll save me money for now, until I want to upgrade.
Anyways, I also want to add a 2" lift. My question is, "should I replace tires first, or do the lift first? Or do I need to have both done at the same time? I would like to find the most economical way first, while I save up for the next project. Any advice would be appreciated.
Usually, we say you can go will a lift first then wheels and tires. That way you can get tires that might not necessarily fit without a lift! But if you are sticking with the same size of tires then maybe go with the tires first as they will help a lot more on the trail.
Although one of the very first mods you should do if you haven't already is an engine skidplate to protect the oil pan!
@@Chase_Schrader Ok, good to know! Thank you so much!
No problem!
Делай лифт потом бери колёса, но не затягивай и наче на маленьких колёсах выглядит как телега 🤣
Well there ya go
Yes haha, more coming soon ;)
Where can i get the bumper? Is it available in America?
It is a prototype for my company Flat 4 Offroad, we are looking a possibly making a weld together kit, we just haven't had a lot of interest.
Quick question where did you get the front bumper ?
Custom built at our company Flat 4 Offroad! May make a weld together kit if there is enough interest!
how's the fuel mileage after adding on all that weight?
Actually not as bad as I was expecting! I went from 450km a tank to around 400kms!
Any info on the front bumper build anywhere???
We are working on a weld together kit! We will release info on Flat 4 Offroad when ready!
Do you show the inside of the tent?
Very briefly in the video with the lights install! If you want to check out the setup on the road I would recommend my overlanding playlist. It has a 10 videos where I stay in it! You can find it here: ua-cam.com/play/PL9g97P8M3_BAfQ2j0io0HWrOgbmtdW0Xc.html
What suspension did you use???
I used Flatout Suspension GR Lites! The install video is here: ua-cam.com/video/n07AeIFRsVM/v-deo.html

It's a prototype from my company Flat 4 Offroad! We are looking to make a weld together kit!
