It’s all definitely changed my mind about buying a Gibson. I had been looking at them: considering one. Now, I think I’m going to go find a better copy and support a different company.

Really? So you have an issue with a company trying to protect it's rightfully owned products? You think it's OK for someone to just use Gibson styling to sell their own product? If these other companies are so good why don't they come up with their own styles and not use the styles automatically associated with Gibson? How would you feel if you created something unique and started selling it and I came along and used your designed to sell my version at a cheaper price? Think about this... When is it OK to steal someone else's idea and make money off of it?
I was looking at a custom shop LP. I had the money in my pocket, but I also grabbed a Chapman ML2 to try at the same time. After switching back and forth using the same amp with the same settings I bought the ML2. Felt better, sounded (to my ears) better, and was sub $600 vs way more for the Gibson. All in all, the ML2 is sitting beside me and gets almose as much playing time as my Frankensteined Epiphone LP special.
@@pedrogiavani2330 - and this is what Gibson is talking about. I am not familiar with the Chapman guitar you are speaking of but I assume it must look similar to a Gibson? If my assumption is correct, then your initial reason for wanting this guitar was the looks of it right? I mean we don't go out and look at guitars that are ugly lol. So Chapman decided to utilize a familiar design of a guitar to lure you in. Listen, I am not against buying a guitar that looks similar to a Les Paul, I myself am looking at one at this very moment. The problem I have is that if these companies are going to use the Gibson designs they should have to compensate Gibson for using it. I guarantee you if one of these cheaper companies came up with their own design and Gibson started producing a look alike they would go after Gibson for it.
@@alabamahebrew If you mean by "must look similar to a Gibson" yes, it is a single cut body style with two humbuckers, and 24 frets. So, am I right in thinking that in your opinion, every single cut guitar manufacture must pay Gibson? Would then you support that every double cut body manufacturer must pay Fender a percentage? I am not sure who cane up with the flying V body style but I guess someone owes someone some cash.... In the end, I wanted a double humbucker solid body guitar. I played with two and liked one better that was at a better price and felt better in my hands. Cheers :-)

Basses require a long horn to balance well, and that's why the Leo hit the double jackpot with the strat/precision design.

What I find interesting is that in the Vintage case, they were forced to change the design of the VS6 to a more slanted design, because it looks too much like the Gibson SG. In the Dean case, they're targetting the 'Gran Sport' (Dean's SG-style guitar), which is further from the SG than the VS6 is.

I'm pretty happy that my single cut, Les-Paul style guitar was made by good ol' Jackson Guitars. Because, you know, they actually made a good guitar for a price I can afford.
Fender's cool, too! But I'm not a fan of strats. I gotta have that single cut, girthy body. Plus, when you polish Scott Ian's nuts as much as I do, you tend to lean towards Jackson Guitars, hehe.

Please bring back the bully guitars tshirt. Some of us weren’t around when this was going down. I’d really like to have one. I only just discovered you recently and I used to do some amateur recording about 15 years ago with the Korg D1600. It was a bear to work with so I sort of gave up. However, I recently got back into playing and recording with CuBase 11 pro. Your tips and reviews have inspired me to start recording again. Not full pro mind you, but for my own stuff that I never got to record, and maybe help out some people locally. I love the program, and since finding you on UA-cam I’ve put together quite a nice studio full of modern stuff based on your reviews.
So thank you so much for this channel to learn and have a good time laughing with you.

I always dreamed of having a Gibson Les Paul when I was learning seeing all my idols using them. After saving up for about a year I finally got one. Kept it for a month then sold it and got 2 ibanez and a new amp. Best decision I ever made it was an awful guitar and after working in a guitar shop for a while and seeing how poor the quality on control is on them I wont be making any Gibson purchases again. Far better companies with far better guitars for less than half the price these days.
That's the truth. Just wish I could get my Les Paul sold. I've been wanting to try out some of Schecters pieces. They look amazing and I hear they play extremely well.
The newer ones with the fishman fluency pickups in are amazing. Sound killer and. Play like a dream!
