My favorite feature of the Les Paul is the removable headstock. Unfortunately, it can be a little difficult to glue back on.
any guitar head stock can break

@@xjohn1970 This is true. Yet, somehow all my contacts who ever had their headstocks gibsonized had Gibsons.

And he's wearing a suit and tie, so we know we can trust him, not like that T-shirt-wearing UA-camr that looks like him.

As a Gibson owner, I absolutely love this video!!!😆😆😆 The elitist views of Gibson owners blind them form realizing that there tons of less expensive options that have the same or better quality (I include myself 😖). Buy what you can afford and what feels good in your hands and you will always win!! Getting caught up with the name on the headstock is so lame ( again pointing the finger at myself)!!!!
I agree. Even as a Gibson LP owner. I never got the elitism. Don't get me wrong, I love the guitar and will never sell it, but guitars like LTD Eclipse play better for half the price.
Haha, tell me about it. All of my guitars have always been Gibson, though when I was looking at a Jackson King V, one of my friends tried to call me on it. Leaving me to reapond "Hey, if it was good enough for Robbin Crosby..."
There is a history with Gibson and Epiphone. I have had a few friends who owned USA Gibsons. They sound great unplugged and are very nice looking and sounding. If you don't have the elitism, they are just fine. Never played a Gibson that I didn't like, but I never owned one, only played my friends Les Pauls and SGs.
i love Gibson's guitars so much a buy the Ibanez equivalent of them
@@Taxevader-gk9ms I have owned Ibanez Sound gear basses, an AX that got stolen and currently have a Gio. Ibanez necks are amazing. Thin, comfortable and easy to play. I prefer the hard tail to the trem bridge, but they make awesome guitars.
As a Nashville resident, who’s brother in law works for Gibson, and has always wanted a Gibson Les Paul since he was 6. This video just makes me laugh and cry at the same time.
omg, wait? he works for them and still doesn't own one? harsh.
I passed on a 5000$USD Gibson Les Paul. Instead I bought a spare V-Amp 2, a V-Amp PRO, a V-Amp 3, a FCB1010 MIDI pedal, both a mono and stereo Ernie Ball pedals, a 4U rackmount case, power converter, TC Electronics G-Force, a 5-guitar stand, and... 4 Epiphones: 2xLes Pauls, SG, 335. Lastly, a MIJ Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass (used). And still I got money to spare to pay for UA-cam Premium!
Don’t buy any Gibson made after 2008.
@KARAYAmetal why?
if you really want one just get a studio for a grand
I went in to a shop with the intention of buying a Gibson Thunderbird bass with the required £1800 in my pocket.
While I was there, out of curiosity I tried the Epiphone vintage pro and it sounded better whilst feeling just as good to play. Sure the Gibson had nicer hardware but not £1150 better and I still preferred the Epiphone sound.
Anyway, I bought the Epiphone and blew the change on drugs and hookers
isn't the Gibson Thunderbird neck through while the Epiphone is not?
gods , the thunderbird is the worst bass i ever laid hands on then i tried an SG bass. it wasn't any better
@@igorjakobsen1694 depends on the model. The Epiphone T-Bird Pro for example may be the single best playing and sounding Bass Epiphone/Gibson has ever made and its only $500 for a neck through bass. You're thinking of the entry level $200 models and Gothic T-birds.
epiphones suck. You would have been better served buying an ESP
@@igorjakobsen1694 you're audience won't see if its neck through or not lol
I gotta admit, I was on the fence about getting a Gibson, but Glenn, you have convinced me. I did it. I mortgaged my house, and my next door neighbor's house as well (don't tell her, she thinks the cable has gone waaaaay up) and bought me a real Gibson. I'm so happy! Now, I finally have something to put into that bullet-proof glass case to impress the plebes.
I sold my kids ... oh and my neighbors kids 😝
You have something you can sell should the need arise. If you hand it down it will even appreciate and be a pretty valuable instrument further down the line and not a piece of chinese firewood you can't give away.
I mean, if you and your neighbor's houses are only worth three grand put together, I think any guitar should probably be the last thing you're worried about buying.

Until someone lays it on its back & the headstock flies off 😌
lol 🤣🤣🤣 gibson sucks but it's inspiring so many memes and jokes... for free!
My lead guitarist has played a 2009 Les Paul Studio for most of his life. About 2 months ago we went to the store and he ended up buying a PRS CE. He told me he hasn't touched his Gibson since. Anyway Glenn, these "corporate friendly" videos are getting funnier and funnier, would love to see more of them
@emmanuelrogercosta9671 I bet it's because Gibsons are uncomfortable af in comparison & their necks are too fat.
@@relicboxing comfort is a plus. My 245 SE is the most comfortable instrument I own, it turned on my lead player to PRS. Tuning stability is also an advantage and they are very versatile instruments. Kick ass designs too
PRS is garbage
My favorite thing about Gibsons is the customization options are endless. So much wood to work with. I was able to add a Floyd rose to a 1959 les Paul I got from my grandpa.
I bet you hoped to attract lots of Gibson fan boys to curse at you with that comment 😂
Dont forget to scallop the fingerboard and add active pickups. oh and relic it.
I mean whey would they when comment is obvious bullshit@@Mazut0
OMG, why would you do that?!
Well.. there is an FR option you can just put on a Gibson without woodwork -> Floyd Rose FRX its called.
I have been playing a Gibson through a Mesa boogie for the last 17 years. I was not expecting to be so hilariously destroyed within the first minute of this video! Now, if you’ll excuse me, this old man rocker is going to go play some bendy riff‘s whilst I continuously tune my G string.
Maybe instead you should bring your guitar to someone who knows how to put strings on properly
It’s important to be able to take a joke
@@Lucky-cu6xq LMFAO wut
I’ve been playing a Gibson Les Paul through a Mesa for last 20 years. Mine never goes out of tune and sounds gorgeous. Only deterrent for me is weight. It’s a back breaker. Never gig with it anymore because of that but I’ll never get rid of it. Love it for recording
When I got my Les Paul 3 years ago it was getting out of tune all the time, more like only the G string but as I was playing and time went on, seems like it’s getting less out of tune. Weird.
I can only imagine how long it takes Glenn to get into character playing a "nice guy". By far the best acting work I've ever seen. Very impressive! 🙌

@Carl Edlund Anderson nope, Chuck Testa.

4 decaf mocha frappes and he's good to go.
I actually own 3 Gibsons. One studio and two standard. Somehow the Studio which I bought used and is significantly cheaper were better to play than my two Standards (both 2018). Next in playability is mya blood orange Standard Les Paul. Worst is the cherry burst which for some reason has a stiff push pull knobs.
Now.... All those Gibsons I rarely use just because the Squire Bullet strat that I bought dirt cheap is far more fun to play.
I think of my Gibsons as an investment just in case I need to repair our roof.
That’s pretty interesting actually, in what ways was the studio better to play? I’m genuinely curious as to how they are built in comparison
@@DoktrDub hard to believe but they just perform well playability and soundwise. Maybe due to the lack of cosmetics the standard has, turning it into just a chunk of wood with hardwares maybe? The pickups are hotter and the action are always spot on. Its quite lighter than the standards too so its more comfy. The frets on the other hand are rough on the edge and still goes out of tune more than my standards. At least those are the attributes of my gibson lp studio that made me say those comments in the first place. Just be aware that these guitars arent made equal and its a subjective experience.
I still love some good old sexy Ibanez S series just for pure wankery.
@@sidpablo fair enough, it makes sense actually that the bare bones no nonsense studio model might actually be a lot more preferred by many people because of its qualities and how it feels even though they tend to be lower end than the standards, also I get the Ibanez love, just fun axes 😃
Guitars may help take the brunt of inflation effects with their value in a shit year this last one has been, but overall they will never keep up. You’re better off selling them and putting that money into an RRSP so you can get ~25% of it back with your tax return (if you have RRSP room).
LOL nice.
This might be my new favorite video of yours Glenn. Keep up the good work and I appreciate the blue collar no bs you present and represent!
He seems salty to me, like the band nerd whose life didn’t work out and blames the capitalist society. Who cares if some people buy nice things or that a brand targets different demographics? Should Porsche stop making cars for people who aren’t pros? (PS - my best guitar is a 2000s Squier lol)
I’ve had my Flying V for 15 years now, but the slogan “Only a Gibson is good enough” always rubbed me the wrong way.
I thought that too. I own and played primarily Les Paul guitars. Then last month I bought a PRS McCarty 594. It's an unbelievable guitar. The 594 is a better Les Paul hands down. PRS has mastered taking the best of Gibson and Fender and putting them into a highly finished package. Highly recommend checking out a PRS out if you're ever in the market.
i've had a US fender P bass , since 1995 , before that i played on an old beat up peavy t-40 some one ripped the frets off of (it was teh bass i learned on). i've owned a Ric , a BC. Rich bass , i've tried all manner of basses at shops over the years though. and i can say with certainty that Gibson basses were by far the worse. I've also dabbled in guitar some never owned a gibson though. genrally their necks felt great to me , that being they were huge honking pieces of wood , but then i'm a bass player so it should feel good to me. that aside i can't stand their bridges , and every one i jammed with taht used them , were always tunning constantly. so in my experience Gibson is never good enough.
@@IndyRockStar that because that guitar was designed for 59 les paul lovers, hence the 594 in the name. you're basically playing a reshaped les paul when you play one of those, imo that's about as good as it gets, cheaper PRS guitars are well just like any other cheap guitar just different looks.
Only a Gibson is good enough

I like all guitars and if someone likes Gibson, that’s cool too.
Me too, as well as my cousin (rhythm guitar), we absolutely love them. Huge Zakk sound out of them
I have owned 4 Gibsons in my life, 1 currently, and zero of them had tuning issues, playability issues, durability issues, etc. I have even gotten a Luthier's comment of, "man the intonation is so accurate throughout the entire fretboard" about two of my Gibsons... luckily I still own one of those. It's just cool to hate Gibson because they had poor quality control for a couple years, many years ago. Don't mind Glen, he's a commie.
@@MrSneakyPants Lmao. Commie? Just because he criticizes capitalism? Hating on capitalism doesn't necessarily make you a communist. It makes you a decent human being. You probably (or wish to) own a company and exploit your employees.
@@SandeshShak no, he's a commie because he holds far-left socialist views. I have heard him aspouse them many, many times on his channel. And by the way, comparing Gibson workers that make roughly 3x the minimum wage in their state (starting wage), and can afford to live comfortably, to sweat shop workers in China is garbage. I bet he thinks it's great to purchase electric cars too, as all the minerals are mined in China by Muslim slave labor. 🙄 To sum it up, you can hold whatever political view you want, but in my experience, those that hate capitalism on their own public forum typically live high off the hog themselves.

Ditto ^ My Gibson LP Studio is probably my favorite guitar I own (although I've got an Epiphone and a Schecter that give it strong competition), but I never have been able to get it to not bind and go sharp after a few songs. But I got it used with the original case and everything for like $700 USD, so I still feel like I got a really good price on it.
I've got 6 of the bloody things, but moved to PRS years ago.
So then why did you buy Gibson??
Can confirm that Gibsons stay in tune. I have a Gibson Les Paul Custom that I tuned back in 2011 and I haven't had to retune once!
How does that even work.. in 12 years zero tunings?
@@ramonvanveghel7521 I don't remember making this comment but I haven't actually owned a Les Paul in like 6 years and it was an Epiphone. I'm sure I made this comment as a joke lmao

This video makes me appreciate my JCX brand strat even more, I bought it secondhand 13-14 years ago, it’s definitely the guitar I play the most and have only recently had to replace the original tuners, but it still has the original nut, frets and bridge (but not saddles). Not much else on it is original however that was out of choice rather than necessity or maintenance

LAUGHING!!! I somehow missed this when it came out. The bloopers were just what I needed 🤣 Hope the rest of your day went better! Thanks man🤘
I never had the desire to own a big G but I wouldn't blame Gibson for not being innovative. Whenever they try something new they fail. And they don't just fail because the new design was terrible but because no one actually wants Gibson to do something different. Just listen to what actual Gibson players have to say. They don't want the innovation, they want the oldschool stuff but manufactured with modern standards. Gibson basically does just that now and players seem to be happy with it. Just watch Ben Ellers recent video about his new Les Paul.
This reminds me of something similar that Ted Woodford said, every time Gibson came up with something new everyone used to bitterly complaint about it, see what happened in the 70s with the "vollute" and stacked body construction on the LesPaul
Best player Gibsons ever made 71to 81, boomers shit on that design. ESP took it and ran with it, and improved on it. Custom shop ESP stuff, is some of the best quality instruments on the market Even the LTD line has better quality control than most production line Gibsons…

I love this. Nicely done. If anything, you went a little easy on them.
If i wanted an expensive headless guitar I'd just get a Kiesel
I used to turn my nose up at Gibson guitars until I spent a couple hours at various shops trying guitars out. I got a LP classic and I've been completely satisfied. My other guitars are Aviator and Mayones. I'm not a lawyer or wealthy but I want my instrument to inspire me, feel good in my hands, and sound good. I have spent 20+ years just buying tons of sub 1k guitars. Now I just want a couple that will feel good and somewhat hold their value. I don't care where they are made. I also don't think anyone should have to justify their gear choices based on their ability, income or whatever. If you have a $300 harley benton and it inspires you fantastic. If you have a 3000 lp but can only play a few chords but you love playing it that's awesome too! It's just tools for your self expression
Agreed 👍
This. I had a couple gibby flying Vs a year or so ago and i sold them for ibanez prestiges. I regret it. Not that the ibanez’s are bad, i just really miss them
i find the sweet spot price range on instruments to be between 800-1600 dollars . you can find some really good instruments in that range with out stomping your bank account. past 1600 you see an exponential increase in diminishing return.
even fender has a few "lower cost" US made models in that price range if you just have to get a US instrument. but in general you can find just about any variant of any model of guitar or bass in that range of price. i've even seen some instruments with fanned frets in that range , and a few with micro tonal frets. So gonna have to agree to disagree with you on this point. past 1600 there's just not much more you can do to an instrument to make it play better than other 1600 dollar instruments. past 2000 and it's purely a name grab buy.
Yea, about 8 yrs back I got a 2007 R8, (used but owned by a drummer who didn't play it). I have had many "other" LP's and this one really is built better, play's better, etc. Something like that camo LP really has inferior parts, things like "Grovers"? Lot's of knock off parts on them. But I agree, get the one you want and are inspired to play.
so the sub 1k guitars didn't feel good? lol
I am so glad I came across this site. Aside from being absolutely spot on about, well, most everything it is also indeed quite hilarious. As a 71-year-old I grew up playing Gibson and Fender. Mostly because all other guitars in the 50s and 60s were trash. Fast forward to 80s and 90s we were now able to buy a "won't bust the bank' guitar that actually played well and sounded pretty good. I have over the years sold off my Gibson guitars and Fenders and now play very playable and great sounding guitars at a most reasonable price.
Thanks, Glenn, for telling it like it is. Cheers from Canada
I’m way too poor to own a Gibson but I love their Epiphones. I used to have an Epiphone SG Standard in Black, sold that and currently have a Les Paul Standard Pro in Cherry Burst. Both great sounding guitars that are built well and don’t go out of tune. You get very similar build quality and sound for a fraction of the cost. With Gibson you’re mainly paying for the name.
Epiphone is 3/4 the guitar for a 1/4 of the price. I got a 2006 Epiphone "custom shop" SG with alpine white and EMG pickups for $600 and it was flawless. I'd buy two of those guitars with the amount it would have cost to buy one Gibson

I have a Les Paul Standard that I absolutely love but Glenn is right about a lot of the criticism. Hell, mine arrived with the pickup selector in the wrong position (goes left/right instead of up/down). How does that even pass inspection??
That same thing has happened on 3 gibsons my brother owned. Never happened on an Epiphone. They just don't give a fuck.
It's all irrelevant bevause it's made in America, so it's still a lot better than those guitars made in the Far East.....right?
That one had me rolling. The point about the CNC machines was right on. Thank you comrade Glenn 🌹
Companies have been using mills and CNC type machines to rough out guitar shapes for decades, even in the 30s 40s & 50s. Giving the CNC all the credit while downplaying all of the finishing work that actually results in a guitar casts too much shade on the people who deserve credit for making the instrument work. This goes to every brand out there including the ones who sell good guitars at low costs. A CNC just roughs out a guitar shaped chunk of wood. It's all the men and women down the line that make guitars.
yes , but didn't you know that chinese cnc machines are inferior to american cnc machines : )
@@legacyShredder1 Finishing work doesn't make a guitar. the accuracy of the construction is what makes it, and that is what CNC provides: carbon copies. The reason that there are even intonation adjustments on old electric guitars, was to make up for the inconsistency of human drilled bridge holes. CNCs were refined to the point that PRS guitars stopped making adjustable bridges, because they could stamp them and still be perfectly intonated because they're made by machine and there's no variance in construction. CNCs are not "just roughing out the shape" they're doing ALL the operations, from shaping to placing holes, to routing pickup cutouts, to putting the fret slots in. Humans move the wood from machine to machine. That's all they do. They're even painted and lacquered by machine. The human element has for all intents and purposes been removed.
@@snap-off5383 Agreed. I toured the Memphis facility when it was still open. Human hands don't touch the guitars until finish sanding and paint. They basically don't get touched until it's QC time.
They're no more hand made than any other guitar on the market.

I have a Luna electric that was designed and made by Dean. It's no longer made because it's one of the guitars they sued over, even though it only vaguely resembles an LP design. I have the matching bass. I actually believe they will be "collector guitars" long before any Gibson made after 1980 or so. They both also stay in tune even with the cheap hardware.
Gibson guitars made after 1980 are already collectors guitars, and many of them go for 10s of thousands of dollars.
I miss Luna:(
@@legacyShredder1 This gives me a sad...
So, I'm primarily a Fender guy myself, but I've always enjoyed some of the classic Gibson guitars, but simply could never justify the price for a new Gibson; but I have found quite a few other options.
ESP has their own JDM brand, Edwards, that are absolutely fantastic. I have their ES335 copy that I paid $1,100 for and I love it. Seymour Duncan pickups, Gotoh hardware, and a carved maple top and back instead of pressed laminate. Essentially the same or better specs than the current 59 ES335 reissue Gibson is doing at 1/5 the cost.
Some of the 70's Japanese guitars are also great bang for the buck. I just picked up a 70's Carlo Robelli SG (essentially a re-badged Greco) for $250. Mahogany body, set neck, Maxon pickups, and someone ever replaced the tuners with Grovers back in the 70's. Or I could buy a Gibson case or guitar stand for almost the same price.....
I live in Japan and have multiple ESPs. No brand makes a better guitar at any price point.
Love my Edwards 335 MIJ. ESP makes great guitars.

that ending bloopers tho fucking amazing im glad i found your channel
Good stuff!
I have a Gibson acoustic I bought at Guitar center that sounds AMAZING! Better than every other guitar in its price range I have played HP7series... But... I went through 6 cases of guitars in order to find one without glue spots around the nut. One, the neck was twisted, another had a hand print in the clear coat on the back. Detailed too... you could find the guy who did it with his finger prints. Another had the acoustic PU dangling inside the guitar unglued and another where the bridge was bulging out. I got one that was PERFECT and it sounds amazing, but that experience made me warry of Gibson as a brand
Yeah their QC is as fucked up as a soup sandwich. In the rain.
Came to this channel for the information, stayed for the humor. This character is so good. More of it!!!
This is amazing!!!
I just got a 2021 tribute and it plays really well. Paid $900 for it second hand.
I bought my tribute for a similar price and use my 2019 Tribute fairly often and I don't have this problem with the Gibson that Glenn and many others claim they have, Is it just possible that the majority of people are idiots and carelessly handle their equipment? I've played many different guitars, Jacksons, ESP, LTD, Ernie Ball Music Man, Ibanez, Yamaha, Fender etc. and none of those brands come close to the tone and sustain that a Gibson provides the player. the G string doesn't seem to go out of tune for me as many complain, I play alot of floyd too and that's alot of bending.
GLENNNNNN!!!!!! You are so right! I figured this out myself over years of wasting money on Gibson. Dean makes way better guitars at a better price point and I am currently playing a custom built guitar that only cost me $400. I wont cry when Gibson dies.
my gibson only ran me about $400 so i lucked out but you right just because a guitar cost idk 1 grand doesnt mean its a great guitar
@@terrymcginnis4633 I am about to have to pick up one of those Harley bentons TBH
Having a custom really wakes you up. Every manufacturing made are trash and shit. Chinese, American, Korean manufacturers. If it's production it's trash.
And the luthier made sure I had everything I wanted, quality is top-notch.
@@bassyey I totally agree man! In all fairness, the propaganda around brand names is really believable until you find out otherwise
One of the best videos right here!
love this and so true unfortunatly, about to pull the trigger on a 1991 Heritage 575.
Glen, could you show us some bass guitars that are not well known but worth buying.
You always show guitars, so give some bass player love. Throw in some amps too.
Seconded
Re-seconded and ... aproved by aclamation?
Sire are making decent basses for a good price
Ask Davie504
Couldn't agree more with this ! Haha ! But, still, I own a 1991 Gibson Explorer, full of chips and dings that I bought for 900 $canadian a couple years ago. It's a beast, plays so well, great sound, and surprisingly stays in tune more than 10 minutes while playing !
The outtakes in the end are always the best
I play a lot of pop punk and punk rock/alternative rock and I love my Gibson Les Paul. Thanks for the video man.
You spent all that money when you're just going to turn on the distortion most of the time? Look at Billie Joe's og strat copy, he played it on some of their best albums and it was cheaper than even a fender
Case in point: i have had my les paul for a few years now, absolutely love it BUT it had an issue with the copper shielding and bad wires so the guitar made a nasty noise all the time if i werent to be constantly touching the strings when it was plugged in. Eventually i got it fixed but it still feels weird that i had to buy new wires and shield the guitar so that it works properly. It should not be needed with such expensive instrument.
P. S. Love the show Glenn, keep them coming.
Bad grounds can happen on any pickup or 1/4” Jack. That’s what your issue was. The ground goes bad and it causes a hum if you aren’t grounding the strings with your hand
As small children both me and my brother broke the headstock off my dad's les Paul. My brother did it first by knocking the case over. Then I broke it, having it slide off my lap trying to play it. It's kind of a legend around our house. Funny it's actually back in the same repair shop right now 30 some years later being refretted.
The headstock broke while it was in a case? Dude, I literally RAN OVER my LTD with a car and the only thing that broke was one of the case latches.
@@BimmyRee as far as I know it was in the case. It was sitting upright against a wall and my brother was trying to climb up it and knocked it over. Not sure if it came out or what happened exactly. I need to talk to my dad about it.
Classic!
Love it.
You know what it's crazy but I have a LP 56 reissue and it stays in tune really well!! (Even with moving it from place to place and down tuning 😳) I love the guitar and even I was surprised!
My first (real) guitar was epiphone sg-400 pro. Loved it. For a few years I was dreaming of getting a proper Gibson SG. Almost even pulled the trigger a couple times, but I actually use the coil split on the epiphone and gibsons didn't seem to have it... Then at some point I got used Harley Benton Amarok 6 for drop C tuning for practically nothing. I've never dreamed of a gibson since. Now my only dilemma is if I should get another amarok (or some other high spec HB) for standard tuning or a Solar just to support Ola.
Solar guitars are sick!
I know Glenn has a problem with Gibson but I have aggressively played down and drop tuned metal on my Les Paul for 26 years and it has performed absolutely stellar and my Explorer is an absolute beast with the Fishman Moderns in it and both were less than $2000 (US). I do own other makes of guitars but my two Gibsons are definitely my favorites. That being said, I found this video very truthful and entertaining.
Pssst…nowadays we just call it metal.
Been playing a Gibson for 15 years half of that time in drop b tuning. Put a jb in the bridge...whole deal cost me 1200 bucks including the jb. It shred. I own carvins, multiple epiphones, Ibanez, esp, schecters and that's just what I own right now and my Gibson is the only guitar that I've played through the finish. Can't find anything I want to play more.
Which Gibson. I have a recent V, but neck is not a good shape for me. 58 explorer is like best for my hands (wouldnt go for Korina, just mahogany)
I bought a 1971 Gibson Medallion Series Flying V, in 1983, for $610.00 US, with case.
I also bought a 1974 Gibson LPC for $ 1,200 , in 1988 , with case.
With today's prices, Gibson's are not worth the price.
For less, I can get a Jackson, Fender or a Kiesel for a lot less ..... Oh Hell ! ..... I'll just get another Epiphone !!!!
Whatever. My $200 Epiphone SG Special sounds great and keeps in tune
So far my favorite video glen has ever made!
That was spot on!
This is hilarious Glenn you are actually a great actor, we should see more of this
Love the "They Live" reference.
Gibsons do actually come with more pickup configurations than 2 humbuckers.
Really? Never heard of one
@@jimpinto3838 Some have 3 humbuckers.
Or what about
The single humbucker
Or mini humbuckers! Lol. Or the classic P90 configuration.
yeah some of them have a bridge humbucker plus another humbucker
I like this guy. Have super nice day Mr. Fricker.
Loved it Glen the suit was a bit wierd at the start but i dont know it makes you seam more oficial
This video is hilarious, but I still love my Les Paul Custom. I play it more than any of my other guitars. It just sounds and plays perfect for me.
Being honest, there are some era’s of LP’s that I own and love, but this is priceless. Love it
Well done
👊
This is fucking hilarious! Just found your channel a few days ago. Really like it! 🤘
Glen needs to be the new Facebones at Mordhaus. 😂 This was a great episode, well done.
Congratulations 🎉

I must have gotten lucky, I have a studio made in 2005, stays in tune, with the vintage tuners, bought used in mint condition. I chalk it up to being a freak of production, many don't stay in tune. I also have an Epiphone that has the Grover tuners, also stays in tune. Both sound good, and after a good bit of fret work on the Epiphone, it plays more or less just as good as the Gibson, sounds a bit different, but it can do everything the Gibson can do, just it didn't cost $1,000+. Made in Japan Jacksons, Mexican made strats and a Charvel, to round out my collection, and guess what? I enjoy and play all of them, it is just the feel of the instrument and mood that influences which one I pick up.
The idea of it has to be American made, cost's $2,000+, or it is totally junk really is pig swallow. Sure, you get what you pay for, but there does come a point where you can be just as happy with a less expensive, well set up and maintained instrument. If it is comfortable, sounds and plays good, and is well made, the name on the headstock matters not, nor does where it is made. You still can be great or suck at playing a $500 instrument as you can a $5,000, just ignore and get past the group think BS, find something that stays in tune, fits you and what you are trying to do musicwise, get it properly set up, and have fun.
I am a Gibson owner and I had a blast watching this 🤣 Great vid as allways!
I have a Gibson LP Standard. I didn't have tuning issues when I got it but took it to my tech expecting him to want to work on the nut or even replace it. He said it was actually cut from the factory really nice. Since then, I've popped a bigsby in it, threw on some 9.5 gauge strings and... I still don't have tuning issues. 🤷♂️
Had a good chuckle at this. I do own a lower end Gibson that I’m happy with, but over the years I’m starting to realize I probably could’ve gotten a Haley Benton or LTD, dropped a few hundred bucks on some upgrades and gotten in the same ballpark for like half the price.
don't fall into the trap of "if I mod it then it will be good". Quality is quality. period. It's no different than buying a Honda Civic, modifying it, and saying it's as good as Ferrari. It may be fast, it may be cool, but it will never be a Ferrari. An HB will never be a LP.
It's not just about parts it's about build quality. Drying process and the quality of the neck.
I'm really in love with the Gibson 335 look and sound. But as a bit of a beginner (on my 9th week of playing), I'm debating between a Gretsch 2622 Streamliner, and A Harley Benton HB 35. Both sound phenomenal! What I love about the HB, is that I can buy several of them to play, and then double as very attractive wall decor :-) I have to make a general observation about guitar prices though. I have 30+ years of flute and saxophone experience, and teach both. If you want to buy a top end professional saxophone, you are looking at around €5k-6k... For a good professional flute you will have to drain your bank account by around €20k to get taken seriously by an orchestra. This makes even Gibson look inexpensive! I'm really enjoying getting to know the guitar community.
Youll be alright with either. Maybe take a Gretcsh, just because of better quality control and better pick ups (its a good brand with good reputation). Electric guitars arent like classical instruments really...most if it comes down to how you feel the guitar and your amp, speaker...thats basically it. You can buy a 100€ electric guitar, set it up and itll sound great on a good amp...later you can change things on it if you want.
With guitars, you pay a lot for the name rather than quality...around 1000€ mark, basically any guitar is the same in terms of quality...some companies just overprice their instruments bcoz of the brand name.
Others instruments don’t have massive adoption as the electric guitar, that bring down the prices, offer and demand
I hope you do more of these
10/10. Amazing video 😭
I have a 2018 (I believe?) flying V, that I bought used for around 850€, would have been around 1400€ new. I absolutely love that guitar and it really does play great, sounds great and surprisingly manages to stay in tune (maybe the V headstock is better than the LP one idk). Now come a few buts: I would never even have considered it for the full price. I also have an epiphone explorer with EMGs that I got used for 420€ (no, this is not a joke) and that guitar is fucking awesome. I'm gonna have to fix a crackling pot and swap out the switch pretty soon (it's ten years old iirc, so that's fair), but other than that it's also just a really nice guitar; for half the price. Now get this: While they both stay in tune just fine, the tuners on the epiphone feel WAY better than the ones on the Gibson.
My Gibson is alright and I got a fairly good deal on it but they are certainly not the holy grail of guitars. That's a pretty damn clear fucking no.
we all love used gibsons and many of us have em. but none of us got it new :D
