- Someone got more than a little upset with my review of the Line 6 Spider V. So upset in fact, they've threatened to come after me and "feed me my teeth."
Well, things like that should be deconstructed and discussed publicly, in my opinion.

Legend has it, Marlon (to this day) is still at his keyboard; trying to think of a clever come back.
Anthony Hopkins recently threatened me. i generally don't take fake celebrity threats very seriously. i take actual celebrity threats even less seriously.
Why? Did you tell him Metallica deserved a better drummer?
I sold my old Line 6 Spider III to a guy for 40 bucks and honestly, I feel like I ripped him off.
guitarguy951 i sold mine for 30 and was honestly scared he would come back and throw it through my windshield
Jesus, and my Fender frontman was only 10€....
You did.
There’s a special place in Hell for you now!
I got sacked from my last metal band for a 'sound that doesn't fit in' by a cabbage with a spider 3 , foolishly I turned up with a a pair of USA Jackson Rhoads and JCM800 Zaak Wylde plus 260 watt 1981 cab....you can't make this shit up lol.
@@brendanoneil3489 I hate when people brag about their line 6 with EVERYTHING built in... That's cute... What do I play? 200watt Kustom half stack...

Line 6 was my first amp
Definitely wasn’t my 2nd
My first amp was a Peavey vypyr 15. I know have a Peavey 6505mh and a Peavey valveking 112 cab. I love Peavey!
NJBoden yeah I'm trying to sell my spider 3 150. No one wants it. It's resell value is shit
@@variancewithin hahahahaa, at least the 15w you could sell for $20 to some kid.
The first amp I ever bought was a spyder 15 watt. I still have it, but it’s ass. I did however get a 1975 Yamaha 30 watt tube amp that sounds pretty decent.
Same. I had the original Flextone - before I knew better.

I don't understand all the Line 6 hate. It worked just fine for an album I recorded recently about a hive of angry bees.
its been reported they use the line 6 spider mark V for sound effects in bee documentaries.
Mike S. That's good that the industry finally decided to abandon the Digitech Death Metal distortion pedal in favor of the much more bee-like Line 6. Good for them
Did that album include a cover of "Flight Of The Bumble Bee's" by any chance? I'd love to hear that on a L6 Spider.
Peter Schmidt It does have that on there, but you can't really discern any of the notes; the user manual advised that I crank the gain knob all the way up and break it off.
Jerrod, might want to use a HM2 in there as well, just for that little bit of extra buzz.
"You compressed it too much" -people who know nothing about mixing
Same with vocalists calling volume gain to sound cooler
You, sir, are able to say and convey the things I lack the articulation to do so. Absolutely brilliant!
To paraphrase my late father…you’re engaging in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
theHlessOne your father was a plagiarist.
His Father would be a plagiarist only if he had claimed to be the original author of the phrase.
There appears to be no evidence of such a claim. :)
Angus Black he said “to paraphrase my late father” mmm, not his fathers quote. Apparently you have a reading comprehension problem. It’s ok, the world is rife with morons I have to put up with, like yourself. Run along little boi.
There's really no need to be defensive or rude. I wasn't rude to you.
Paraphrase means to rephrase using different words so if we are going to take the statement at face value we actually don't know what his Father said.

I love you man. You're like an angry heavy metal Fred Flintstone. I will never threaten you. 😘
To be quite honest, in my opinion line six amplifiers are absolutely fantastic! Though they may sound different than tube amps, that’s not necessarily a bad thing! Personally I think that line 6 is loaded with great tones, with great value for what you get, and I love how it sounds! I respect that you do not like it - but thanks for at least giving it a chance
I can't lie. I subbed not only for your expertise, but your persona as well. Straightforward and truthful. Keep doing things your way.

Where you at Brando? We all know you've seen this video.

Glen you crack me up. When I first came across your vids, I got offended too. (I play bass) but I kept watching because you made sense and made me chuckle. Now as a subscriber, I take most of your gear and technique opinions as gospel. Keep it up bro. F you and good luck.
Wow. This is the first video I've seen by you and you've already gained a subscriber. Going to go watch some of the gear reviews now!
When a bass player has also a degree in piano. And an internet connection
Come on we all know bass players can't afford internet connections. They just leach them off someone else. Cause paying any bill on time is just asking to much from a bass player in the responsibility department.
TheTsunamijuan Maybe it's his weed dealer's internet connection
This is not a bassplayer. As you've seen, he was bitchin' about his beloved guitar amp.

I love how you handled this. Has anyone asked you to review the Randall RX120RH? I'm interested in the amp but I would like a better review than what I've found.

It's like religious logic.
I was looking for a new amp few weeks ago and saw a couple looking for a beginner amp for their kid. I noticed they were thinking of buying a Spider 5 (because of all ads on the walls of that store) , so walked up to them and told it was a piece of shit and offered my old amp (Vox VT20X + footswitch) for the price of a new spider. I quickly showed them the tones of both amps and we made the deal. I got rid of my old amp and kid didn't have to suffer with a Spider 5.
You, sir, are a noble gentleman, indeed.
Guitar Boy You’re a fucking hero
Guitar Boy doing good work man
Did everyone clap?
Did you get banned from the store for stealing a sale from them? Poaching a store's customers is bullshit
thanks a lot for your input on home recording equipment, I have done my research and will definitely buy the joyo and the harley benton for my birthday! thanks and keep being awesome!
I love your reviews and videos dude! Any chance you would have experience with bass stuff from Eden? I'm looking into their Terra Nova module because it can DI with all the EQ their heads and combos have, as well as drive a power amp for when that need arises.
“YOU INSULTED MY GOD YOU’LL PAY” was so intense oh my god, it was awesome.
Yes, awesome. Crom, balls or any other part of him, does not suffer insults lightly.

Hahahahaha yes!
Sick burn bro. I got a Line 6 Spider and a strat for two hundred bucks. I would have paid 200 bucks for the Strat because it's a good one. The spider will do in a pinch such as when I run open mic night locally and I don't want to take out any tube amps but I wouldn't use it for a standard gig.
I love the intro-music on your videos. Just sounds incredible !
Relatively new to your channel, and I love it! What is the outro music??? That blew my socks off!!
I'm not a metal guy, my, DAW, is whatever my camera hears. And yet, I am compelled to watch SpectreSoundStudios videos.
I wouldn't worry until Marlon WAYANS comes looking for you... he's got a bunch of older brothers for backup...
Or maybe Damon Wayans and David Allen Grier from the "men on film" clips from In Living Color, now that would be scary!
I saw your review of the spider 5 and it was spot on, I used to own that amp and when I started to use other amps I realized how bad it sounded compared to anything else I used. I dont understand what is so bad about telling the truth and help other consumers make a better decision. I for one would have been very grateful to have some one like you telling me to buy something else. as a guitarist I'm much happier since I swapped my gear. Thanks for your service
This is so hilarious on so many levels. The title alone is brilliant. Wow, I love this channel.

Honestly Glen, when Marlon Brando reaches from beyond the grave to complain about your opinion of the Line 6... thats pretty cool.
Nice name T Crane lol
The first thing Marlon Brando would look look for when he came back from the grave would be a sandwich. Then he would look for an exorbitantly high paycheck for wiping his ass on screen. After all that, he might come at someone.
Line6 pedals and effects are good but their amps aren’t worth anything more than a practice amp.
The Bogner designed SV100 and DT series tube amps are sick, especially the power sections. The old Vettas and even Flextones sound great too.
The HD100 MKII and the Spider Jam slay pretty hard.
@@ianmartin2924 yeah i got a spider jam its epic
Have you reviewed the small Peavy vypyr amps? I've have an older 15w one for years and i think it sounds freaking awesome for a bedroom amp.
The fact that I tried to give away my Mark V (for free) for two weeks, says everything about this amplifier.
I dunno how anyone could care that much about spiders or if Glen hates something.
FUCK a spider. If I see one, I squash it.
I do the same with the insects as well, not just the amps. :D
He clearly made this video because he is fuckin scared that something might actually happen to him.
Hey Glen. I'm rocking the newish marshall code 100. I'd love for you to review this amp. I love it for all the options. But if love to know your opinion . Thanks, nick
lolol this video was SAVAGE!!! Luvvit!! I loved the shirt you were wearing, and the zero fucks given attitude you had. this is YOUR review, comprised of YOUR opinions on gear and whether or not that gear is worth OUR money. As you stated, you offer alternatives within the same price range that are superior to what you reviewed and didn't like.
I for one respect your opinion, and appreciate the time you've put into the industry gaining the experience necessary to have such an opinion. My opinions wouldn't mean squat compared to yours simply because I lack the time and experience you've gained. For that, I thank you. Also, for what it's worth, as a noob to home recording and amps in general, I've never found a line 6 anything I like better than an alternative within the price range of competitors.
Thanks for what you do man, keep being real, and good on ya!!
Thanks very much!

I'll be honest: some of your videos sound like jaded, know-it-all nonsense. Some are spot on. This though...THIS IS GOLDEN!! You remind me of my guitar instructor back in high school which I think is what got me to start watching your videos. You're bold and articulate and I dig it. Shoot more Line 6 amps, please! 😁
I’ve been using a Line 6 Spider IV in my cover band for 6 years. It serves me well and definitely makes playing multiple styles of music in one gig much easier. The built in FX and the ability to hook it up via usb to a pc for tone editing is a great feature as well. I understand you believe these amps don’t work well for metal, but I will say this... when my lead guitar player is fiddling with his Mesa dual rectifier on stage, trying to get rid of some annoying buzzing that even a noise gate won’t fix, trying to dial in different tones between songs that ultimately make it harder for the sound engineer to keep up, or just plain sounding too thin because he doesn’t have a mess of pedals and fx to compensate for the lack of features in $2000+ amp, I’ll take my 75w Line 6 spider 4 that sounds chunky and brutal as hell any day. Cheers brutha!
The more so called features an amp has the worse it is. I want my amps to have just a clean channel and a three band eq.
@@nilswegner2881 Idk, the Peavey Vypyr VIPs have a lot of features and they are really good for the price.

hey man, mind sharing your vox chain you use for your videos? I like how it crunches your voice when you scream, but emphasizes the details when you speak softly, while staying stable in percieved volume over the whole dynamic range of your vivid voice, really unique sound :) lovely sound for any kind of video for that matter, are you using a lavalier mic? I can see no mic, but I can see what seems to be a distressor and an apollo in the background. anyways props for such nice audio quality in your vids, really appreciate it :)
Buddy, you are great. This video got me hooked. You have the same kind of character as me. Keep it up. We need honest reviewers who don't drool over crap because it lines their pockets. And we don't need anybody that's easily offended. You're a good man. Keep it up. From a fellow Canadian!

Hey Glenn! You mentioned the Mojo Attack. Did you ever demo it? I can't find any in your videos. I got this pedal but I'm not really happy with it. My small 5W Mojo Diamond sounds really great and I figured with 75W I could use it for rehearsal. I can, of course, but somehow it doesn't sound as good as the small one.
Love your channel. Very funny, smart and informative. Perfect presentation. Especially the Pro Tools. That one really hit the spot cause i fell for the same garbage from PT untill I wised up and signed up for Reaper. Keep up the amazing channel. Love every minute

Handled this really well Glenn, cheers from Ottawa.
I currently use a spider IV for my guitar's and I think it sounds fine as long as I turn the treble down some on the amp itself. Maybe I have crappy ears though who knows?
actually i quite enjoy playing thru the headphone output of a fender frontman 10g, into a fender bassman compact, with the compressor turned way up.
So wait, technically this guy has Line 6 Spider as his religion? Hey! Hear that! We have found something genuinely more stupid than Scientology!
"And now, let us hear our lord and savior, Spider mkV on the Super Metal channel."
Aleksi Heikkilä only problem is you couldn't hear what the Lord and Savior was saying through the shitty gain
Maybe, but would you question the lord and savior?
You know, that's a fair point. I don't wish to anger the Line 6 gods, they will send their Pods after me
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, don’t ever fucking change Glenn. We respect your brutal honesty. All the best. 🤘🏻
One of the negative things of today's social media.
People don't realize how much time we put in videos and reviews/tutorials and seeing responses like this is not only demotivating but also scary. People can be really weird.
Most are just nobodies in their moms attic but I would be a bit careful because 1% really follows up
I can't wrap my mind around that.
If you don't like a video just don't watch it or ignore it. And appreciate the videos you do like.
Luckily I hardly get any negativity on my channel but man if it happens it sucks. You spend so much time in it to get it out there for free and are paid back with negativity.
Love your channel although sometimes a bit harsh it's always in good fun (I think). So keep going. But please watch your back. There are crazy people out there
Keep making great videos. Man, I can't believe someone was so passionate about the Line 6 Spider.
Welcome to the club Glen! (not that you weren't there already) I don;t know how many times the magic speaker cables got my Don't Get jacked blog taken down how many damn times...Trying to be gear agnostic and using critical thinking principles, its amazing how pissed manufacturers can get
Well, they pay google and youtube enough to shut YOU down for telling the truth. I lived in Canada, principally Southern Ontario, for 18 years. Middle school through work and graduate school. There are many things I miss, one being the social contract that seems more civilized than the one in Texas where I live now. You nailed one of the reasons.
It strikes me that, as only some people have the “ears” to be producers, maybe some folks have no skills to hear the differences between a Line6 Spider V and its emulated target. And these folks take umbrage with having their lack of skill thrown back in their face by the review. Sigh.
Your reviews uniformly are informative and entertaining. Carry on!

Hey Glenn are there any tutorials for a guy trying to get a studio started? I've only been thinking about this for a few weeks though I'm pretty serious. It's mostly for self-recording and my own bands. If I like it I will continue on to record outside bands. I have about 10k to start. First purchases I was thinking about are Cubase pro, ax fx III, drum mics and stuff for acoustic treatment. I have a pro drum kit, good computer, studio monitors and 2 separate rooms for recording/mixing. One of my biggest issues right now is a lack of good information on studio gear.
Might have to do an episode on that

That would be awesome. Anything helps right now. I feel overwhelmed and lost on the gear situation.
Andy Sneap likes the crane song spider. You can get one for like $6k haha.
I currently use a Line 6 Spider Mark IV what would you recommend as an upgrade for a gigging/recording amplifier on a budget?
Please review the kustom kg1 6"combo amp or another one of their lower end amps! I have faith!
There are two great sounds one can get with a spider amp:
1) Plug in your guitar, start twerking the tone settings, but remember you get the best tones of you switch this thing called a power switch to off. It enables a whole new world of amazing tones.
2) another great sound of the spider is when it lands on the ground after you throw it down a cliff
lol
At first I thought you meant to say "tweaking the settings," but then I realized that twerking on the amp would actually sound better. At least you'd get some rhythmic butt-claps instead of just garbage tones...
Cheshire Cynic sometimes typos are just the best

I've never seen you or your reviews before today, Glen, but I have now subscribed and plan to contribute based purely on your response to this dillweed. I own a small ranch down here in Texas, where I have a 30' x 75' man cave- guitars and guns, mostly. I have amps and guitars everywhere, some good, some great, some unholy piles of steaming shit. I tend to keep everything, as I figure the world paradigm is Caveat Emptor. Usually I can find a place, musically, for even a bad amp(someone below suggested an album featuring bees, for example)- I ended up pairing a spider IV 150 head with a B-52 LS-412 cab and got what I consider to be an amazing amp. I think it's a bit like when we were young- it was a pain to fast forward the cassette or 8 track, or to lift the needle to the next track...so we listened to all of the filler and usually found some "B" side gold. Today kids only buy the songs they already like- the songs the radio told them to like. They miss the hidden cool. Anyone who buys or doesn't buy something based on a single review from a stranger...deserves what he gets...and what he misses. I listen to every review, compile everything. and STILL go try it out at GC or SA before buying it...just as most musicians do.
I never thought I'd say this, Glen, but...Marlon Brando is a pussy. You holler if you need any help, son. We Texans have a little thing we call an "attitude adjustment" for folks like Marlon. Say the word, I've got your back...not that you need it. :)
Does Marlon have a degree in piano?
I'd like to hear how "incredible" his sound is!
This guy doesn’t even deserve your time Glen. Thanks for keeping music honest.
Appealing to Antifa?? He’s talking about the guy wearing a shirt that says “nobody cares that you’re offended” yeah not a chance.
"Get a better opinion" - good advice. Some (presumably) young person hasn't learned about keeping things in perspective yet it seems.
Lmao, could also sound like the biased rambling of a boomer though, I know plenty of older dudes who are like "yeah line 6 is great got rid of all my pedals" because they can't hear above 5khz anymore, and enjoy that the worlds muddiest and buzziest distortion can cover up the mistakes of them playing Hotel California for the 5700th time.
