Love watching these, seeing two kids learn about their dad hits home for all of us, even if our dads aren’t the Intimidator seeing how dad thinks/thought especially though tough times is super cool!

Love how close they are. Had to go through so much together - hurricane Theresa, not getting dad’s attention, losing him and grieving in public…
Owning a company together and doing well. Keep that JRM bell ringing. Off topic, did enjoy podcast 😉

What really stands out for me is that Dale SR. mentions the smell of the water...which I remember so well as a kid on my first fishing trip in a boat with my dad. Sometimes, it's the simple things that make life good. Good stuff from both of you !!

Jr, I've enjoyed hearing about the history you have dug up. I admire what you have been able to learn about your dad, and even Ralph. My dad raced with Ralph at Greenville Pickens back in the early days, where my dad once went through the wall on one end of the track and came back in at the entrance on the other end, and didn't miss a beat. It would be cool to be able to learn more.

This is refreshing to see Dale and Kelley talking about their Dad. I can imagine and I do mean imagine about how Ironhead was thinking when he was injured and healing.

The fact he had just bought a house on the lake, and then gets injured must have really worried him. He always had a hunger to win but I bet that REALLY made him hungry! Plus he had children to support.

Pearson has the best winning percentage in NASCAR. He drove less than 600 races and won 105 of them. I wish he had raced more full seasons than he did. I heard him say in an interview once that he regretted not racing for more championships.

Great stuff! I only became interested in NASCAR (vintage NASCAR only) over the past year. Bought a copy of the Back-in-the-Day DVD which I love and now this, which couldn't have come out at a better time for me! Thanks for doing this!

Dad got garage passes at Riverside in 60s. Pearson standing out side, car on lift. Dad asked him what they were doing and he talked to us for about 15 minutes. (Well, talked to dad. I was 4-6 years old at time)

I like hearing about those earlier days back in 1979 information about your favorite drivers was hard to get a hold of especially in Wisconsin that was cool that there mom would go the house and take care of jr and Kelly so that means Dale Sr was still some what on talking terms with there mom that's cool Dale Sr was a fair person knowing that information "!

It is crazy it worked out the way it did! Writing an article in his rookie year, talking about the drivers helping him out, being on top of the world with a win, and being brought back down with an injury gave fans (then and now) some insight to the whole scene that we would never have gotten otherwise!

Kelly, you're a very beautiful young lady. I know you want take this the wrong way, but when I look at your eyes I see the Man , your father. No disputing it. I've always loved Dale Sr. N always thought, if something ever happened to that man, it will change Nascar for ever. And it did. For all of us that grew up loving Nascar, the day he died took something from us that we will never gain back, in my heart , I know we will all see the Man in Black # 3 Iron Head Dale Earnhardt again.

Gosh this was wonderful - so descriptive you feel like you are there! Just very well done and such determination to succeed, shows you what greatness it requires and what sacrifices you make to be the best, you can't get too close or emotional with anyone, even your own family - he did the best he could at such a young age, so many responsibilities but racing was everything 😎, M in Miami : )❤

Tell the one about your dad paying for a small church to have their parking lot paved, then told them if they tell where the money came from, he'd come back and bulldoze the asphalt

i loved MRN - i was too nervous to watch Daytona all the way thru so i would always have Eli , Jack , Barney - sometimes Glenn Jarrett on in the garage - i was listening in 2001 cause i couldnt watch - i knew it was bad because of the way Eli's voice wasnt right - he knew something was up -

Imagine how many "blanks" could be filled in if the Earnhardt kids had a better relationship with Theresa. Its a shame really. I often wonder if Theresa views these videos and is impressed with what JR has dug up. I bet Theresa could really add to these stories and help paint the picture. What a shame. Picture this: Theresa as a guest on this show...

Funny. Dad would get paper Sunday morning and legal pad. Write out all drivers in starting order. After church, sit at table w radio on and chart everyone. Position at 10, 20, 30 laps whenever they did rundown. Shade through driver's row if out and write what happened. Either that, or get in car and drive until signal started to fade. Either mom would find new station or we'd turn around. Really miss not being able to listen to race on radio without having to pay for it. Think they've alienated long time fans because of that and ticket prices to high for them to go. See it with them closing grandstands at a lot of the tracks, Daytona and Charlotte backstretches, actually torn down seats I sat in for 600!
